Stephen A. Smith: Yes. From everything Ive heard, KD and Kyrie are planning on coming to New York. 95% Chance they say! Only potential hiccup is KD changing his mind
But lets be fair he has said the entire time he has said he keeps hearing durant and kyrie to knicks, even when he said he heard brooklyn or clippers have a chance..
Not true. Here is SAS In November saying the Lakers were the favorite. "I'm hearing the Knicks and the Lakers, with the Lakers having the edge. That's what I'm hearing."
In December Stephen A. "Kevin Durant is completely playing them. Smith went on to say that Durants people are giving the Knicks the impression that they have a shot at signing him next summer and that hes being told that there is no way in hell that is going to happen.
On May 2nd - ESPNs Stephen A. Smith says there is a better than 50 percent chance that L.A.'s longtime second-banana team lands both Durant and Leonard.
That is not what he said about the clipperdls, he said the clippers feel they can get 1 or the other, he also said he keeps hearing knicks for durant..
and the part about dursnt playing the knicks he said that was his feeling meaning he is worried about that, not that durants people were saying it...
and anything he has said recently durant and irving for knicks..
Wrong. SAS said "better than 50 percent chance that L.A.'s longtime second-banana team lands both Durant and Leonard." He didn't say they thought they would land both he said there IS a 50% chance that they land both. That's from him not the Clippers.
On April 24th On First Take, Stephen A. Smith said he is being told there is a better than 50 percent chance the Los Angeles Clippers get both Kevin Durant and Kawih Leonard this summer. Smith added, he hasnt talked to either of them, but its what hes hearing around the NBA right now.
It seemed like his mood changed as soon as the knicks opened up 2 max slots, before that he was happy and obviously made the declaration he was staying in boston..
Then all of a sudden it changed
The whole thing sounds like Knick fans are being set up
The Kyrie situation has been so weird. I was up in New England that Friday where he declared he would stay & the mood was giddiness. Now most of their fans want to drive him to the airport outta town.
i have friend that works in the media, worked for the sixers for a while, but he told me knocks and pelicans have talked and have scenarios on a trade for each pick the knicks could get..
Told me if they get 4 or 5 it is highly unlikely, 1 through 3 they have scenarios that both teams like...

Would not be surprised at this at all. The drop after Barrett is likely big in most NBA teams evaluations.
Pick # 2 is the one that probably gives both teams the most motivation to make the deal.

It's a 3 player draft. Zion is Tier 1, Ja and Barrett are Tier 2. Then there's a huge drop off with like 8 guys.

i would be fine with any of those 3 if knicks kept the pick
But SAS is so wrong all the time. And when the few times he's ever been right it's based on pure speculation. It's a pure waste of time listening to him except for entertainment.
or a month ago then KD/KI are knicks. Thing is we still have a month and a half and for one of them some basketball games left. I do think that KD could easily change his mind.
Cant wait until the lottery is over, tired of stressing about it and trying to convince myself not to watch it.
Like it or not, Pelicans and Knicks would be good trade partners
if the Knicks land in the top three. If you're the Pelicans you could land Zion/Morant/Barret + two other solid pieces (Knox and Mitch?) + your own top 10 pick this year (someone like Langford?) + Jrue Holiday as a vet leader or trade bait (if you want to go FULL rebuild).
But SAS is so wrong all the time. And when the few times he's ever been right it's based on pure speculation. It's a pure waste of time listening to him except for entertainment.
The pronlem with stephen a hr mentions absolutely everything he hears...
To say the things hr got right are pure speculation is kind of unfair, he has sources he is just blowhard who says everything...

I feel the same way. I feel like if the FA period was starting right now, we probably really would have really good odds at landing KD.
But the fact that we still have all this time between now and then.. and KD being KD, I'm petrified that he'll just change his mind somewhere in between.
So, I'm trying to just not even really get my hopes up... but there's been so much of this noise that it isn't easy.

1 thing that keeps me confident when i start getting nervous about it is deandre jordan..
Knicks told him ok we will buy you out and he stayed, then durant said jordan is in a good spot and he will be fine...
1 other small thing and it is completely reading into his words, whem he was at the garden he talked about the purity and the fans just loving the game and enjiying how the game is played...
Then on the podcast with chris haynes he said he just wants to play free and in a place where the game is enjoyed...
Completely reading into it but it keeps me confident

Gonna be a LONG few weeks... but hopefully you're right and things just kind of stay status quo and nothing really changes.
I do believe as of right now, Durant is almost certainly leaning towards the Knicks - I would buy that. I'm just hoping nothing changes his mind between now and when it's time to make it a reality.
getting a top 2 pick will greatly improve chances for KD (if thats even needed). I do think going back to GS is very real too though, the chance at a 4 peat is really tough to pass up.
Gotta be confident man. This reminds me of last spring when EVERYONE had LBJ becoming a Laker.
Unfortunately, being a Knicks fan does not correlate with confidence for me. I lost that a long, long time ago.. somewhere in that mess of years that all blend together where I watched Lee Nailon, Shandon Anderson, Moochie Norris... I can go on forever.
Broken down Penny Hardaway... Antonio McDyess... Vin Baker.
Ugh.
I'm just programmed to assume the worst.
But, eventually our luck has to turn. I'll feel damn good about that if we get some lotto ball luck tomorrow.
I think we are due with regards to the lottery, but KD leaving GS off a title is tricky. Im not so sure he does.
But, thinking back to NYK moves post Ewing, just to name a few-
It all started with overpaying to keep Allan Houston, which led to the following acquisitions to try and make the playoffs/stay relevant:
-Glen Rice
-Luc Longley
-Travis Knight
-Antonio McDyess
-Dikembe Mutumbo
-Clarence Weatherspoon
-Howard Eisley
-Shandon Anderson
-Stephon Marbury
-Penny Hardaway
-Stevie Francis
-Tracy McGrady
-Eddy Curry
-Jamal Crawford
-Jerome James
-Amare Stoudamire
-Carmelo Anthony
-Tyson Chandler
-Baron Davis
-Tim Hardaway Jr
-Joakim Noah
Not all of those players were a disaster. I liked Amare for coming here, but we were the only team willing to pay him. I never loved the 2012/13 era Knicks, but I acknowledge it was a solid team.
The coaches you ask?
-Don Chaney
-Lenny Wilkins
-Larry Brown
-Isiah Thomas
-Mike DAntoni
-Mike Woodson
-Derek Fisher
-Jeff Hornacek
Thats not even getting into the poor lottery picks such as Michael Sweetney & Jordan Hill.
All that said, the luck needs to turn here, right?
I will say the Knicks certainly set this all up the right way... finally.
They did everything they should have done to be in the right position for this summer. So, for once, I actually can at least give the Knicks credit for something.
I can't blame them if they wind up SOL with the 4th pick or KD changes his mind and doesn't want to come here. None of that is really going to be by any fault of their own.
Kyrie spooks me... he just seems like he runs so hot and cold. One minute he's all in, the next minute he's sulky and wants out.
But - there's no way I'm going to be both a beggar and a chooser here. I'd gladly take Kyrie here in a millisecond even if he worries me.
This is it for us... if this doesn't work out and we come out with 2nd and 3rd tier FA's + Cam Reddish, I'm pretty much completely out of hope.
I'll have to dig up my John Starks t shirt tomorrow for good luck.
I agree, it's got to change eventually. The blind squirrel, the broken clock... whichever beaten cliche we want to use here.
We've got to have this turn around eventually and this is for sure the best opportunity we've had. I definitely feel better about this than I did going into the LeBron sweepstakes almost 10 years ago (how the fuck was that almost 10 years ago already?)...
not settling if KD doesnt come. Dont give max many to B players like we did in 2010. Sit on the cap room & build through the draft/collect assets.
YES! YES! YES!
Just because we have a ton of $ doesn't mean we need to throw it at dudes like Butler or Tobias Harris. If we don't land KD & the like but give Buckets a max deal, I'm done...'Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.'
I still have nightmares about that Jerome James signing...
Give me the top two, anything lower I'm trading to the Pelicans for AD. It'd be tough to fit Kyrie and Morant together but I'd at least give it a season. DSJ, Mudiay, and Frank can go.
Just, please, for the love of god, don't let Boston, Lakers or the Mavs get the top two picks.
I don't think the lottery has any bearing on his decision. I think his plan is to sign with the Knicks. But until that ink goes to paper, he can change his mind and go back to the Warriors. I think its Knicks or Warriors and no one else.
I think any pick outside number 1 needs to be in a package to New Orleans for Davis. I love Robinson and he seems like a good kid, but lets not go crazy here. Davis is one of the most complete and talented big man to play in the league. I hate what he did this year, but you can't criticize anything about his on court game. Pairing Davis and Durant together gives them a legit chance to win a championship...

2 guys have already made up there mind they want to play for a 17 win Knick team, with that powerhouse front office of Mills,Perry, and Dolan.
And we're gonna tell you about it every other week
Durant and kyrie to knicks..
kawhi stays in toronto..
kemba to dallas
not going to sign tobias..
Jimmy butler i think stays in philly or goes to lakers..
Klay stayiny in golden state..
Whose left?

Could be important.
Thoughts?
Root for the Mavs not getting a top 5 pick, if they do they keep it
He said Lebron was going to Miami. So he had that right. I think he has a lot of sources.
But KD is enigmatic. If everyone starts saying he is going to NY, that makes me worried
