Stephen A. Smith: Yes. From everything Ive heard, KD and Kyrie are planning on coming to New York. 95% Chance they say! Only potential hiccup is KD changing his mind
could somehow end up with Durant, Anthony Davis, and Ja Morant instead. But they would have to give up their draft pick for Davis - so it could never happen.
Just driving headlines in a Monday. I doubt KD has decided yet or will before the season ends. The Celtics will try to force Kyries hand before the draft so well have a sense of what hes doing by then.
it's hilarious he refers to KD possibly changing his mind as the "only potential hiccup." That wouldn't be a "hiccup" - that would blow the whole thing out of the water.

Not that I think this is likely but in terms of it being doable I think it is doable. Instead of the 2nd pick if we give them Mitchell,DSJ,Knox etc. and a bunch of other 1st round picks (we have like 5 in the next 3 years) that should rival any other offer out there.
But I think Durant wants Kyrie on this team.
But Durant, Kyrie and AD is also doable (and I think more likely) . And depending on what pick we get tomorrow will impact what else we would have to trade for AD.

I was thinking the same thing. Not only is that one gigantic hiccup, it gives SAS his excuse for if it doesnt happen. Hes got everything covered. If it happens, hey I told you all! But if it doesnt, hey I told you all he may change his mind!.
the #1 pick, I hope they keep Zion. It's feel really nice to have a young player on the team that could develop into a next generation superstar to supplant any FA we're lucky enough to get and act to lure FA here in the future.
I don't mind Kyrie. I think he'll be a fine #2, but my concern is that he and Durant are primarily scorers. We need to get some guys who can do some dirty work.

Good point - that's why RJ Barrett may not be a great fit in that circumstance. Culver, Hunter and Reddish are better complements - even Garland shoots it well enough to play off ball, though two small guards wouldn't be ideal.

If Kyrie comes as a package deal then only Zion IMO is worth potentially NOT trading for Anthony Davis. Otherwise trade for another top 5 player in the NBA in AD over a redundant Morant (due to having Kyrie) or any lesser prospect picked 3-5.
But lets be fair he has said the entire time he has said he keeps hearing durant and kyrie to knicks, even when he said he heard brooklyn or clippers have a chance..
anything else is sweet. If I had my choice I would much rather have Kawhi Leonard over Irving but if Irving is what gets Durant to come here then sign me up.
Here is SAS passing off information as new despite it being reported for weeks. Once Durant puts pen to paper SAS will take full credit for breaking this news weeks earlier.

Kawhi and Durant would be the ideal pie in sky scenario. Because on paper they are the best 2 way players of the whole group.
But apparently they don't like one another and Kawhi is more interested in West Coast. As much as I would love it dont see it happening.
But lets be fair he has said the entire time he has said he keeps hearing durant and kyrie to knicks, even when he said he heard brooklyn or clippers have a chance..
Tomorrow's draft could play a huge role in piece #3 . Either via trade or the player we draft and keep. Top 2 would be amazing.
That if we were to get Kyrie we wouldn't need to trade Mitchell in the deal to get AD. Zion I could go either way but you could definitely make the argument to keep him outright over trading for AD. And giving him in the deal minimizes the future firsts we would need to give up too.
But lets be fair he has said the entire time he has said he keeps hearing durant and kyrie to knicks, even when he said he heard brooklyn or clippers have a chance..
Not true. Here is SAS In November saying the Lakers were the favorite. "I'm hearing the Knicks and the Lakers, with the Lakers having the edge. That's what I'm hearing."
In December Stephen A. "Kevin Durant is completely playing them. Smith went on to say that Durants people are giving the Knicks the impression that they have a shot at signing him next summer and that hes being told that there is no way in hell that is going to happen.
On May 2nd - ESPNs Stephen A. Smith says there is a better than 50 percent chance that L.A.'s longtime second-banana team lands both Durant and Leonard.

That is not what he said about the clipperdls, he said the clippers feel they can get 1 or the other, he also said he keeps hearing knicks for durant..
and the part about dursnt playing the knicks he said that was his feeling meaning he is worried about that, not that durants people were saying it...
and anything he has said recently durant and irving for knicks..
Agree with the idea that if Durant comes nothing else matters. That is an incredible prize. Would obviously love Kawhi or Klay but its simply not realistic.
I think the Kyrie criticism is getting a little overblown. That season in Boston was just bad from the start. Don't forget how well he played last season before getting hurt. And that injury was the result of an infection I believe, not a chronic knee issue...
I know these guys aren't perfect, but you have to keep things in perspective on Irving/ Kemba/ Butler. The Knicks would potentially getting an all nba guard as their 2 option. And all they have to give up is cap space. Lets assume the Knicks win the lottery and get Zion and sign Butler/ Durant. You have the makings of an excellent defensive team with Butler/ Robinson/ Durant/ Zion. That's incredible rim protection and if Frank can even put together a semblance of offense, you can roll out 5 guys that can really D up. I personally would love to watch that....
If they get Durant, I wouldn't be opposed to foregoing the max guys and signing a couple FAs while maintaining some cap flexibility. Beverly, Brogdon, Green, Millsap, Cousins, Gasol are all guys I would be interested in if they could sign 2 or 3 of them....

Wrong. SAS said "better than 50 percent chance that L.A.'s longtime second-banana team lands both Durant and Leonard." He didn't say they thought they would land both he said there IS a 50% chance that they land both. That's from him not the Clippers.
On April 24th On First Take, Stephen A. Smith said he is being told there is a better than 50 percent chance the Los Angeles Clippers get both Kevin Durant and Kawih Leonard this summer. Smith added, he hasnt talked to either of them, but its what hes hearing around the NBA right now.
It seemed like his mood changed as soon as the knicks opened up 2 max slots, before that he was happy and obviously made the declaration he was staying in boston..
Then all of a sudden it changed
The whole thing sounds like Knick fans are being set up
The Kyrie situation has been so weird. I was up in New England that Friday where he declared he would stay & the mood was giddiness. Now most of their fans want to drive him to the airport outta town.
i have friend that works in the media, worked for the sixers for a while, but he told me knocks and pelicans have talked and have scenarios on a trade for each pick the knicks could get..
Told me if they get 4 or 5 it is highly unlikely, 1 through 3 they have scenarios that both teams like...

Would not be surprised at this at all. The drop after Barrett is likely big in most NBA teams evaluations.
Pick # 2 is the one that probably gives both teams the most motivation to make the deal.

It's a 3 player draft. Zion is Tier 1, Ja and Barrett are Tier 2. Then there's a huge drop off with like 8 guys.

But SAS is so wrong all the time. And when the few times he's ever been right it's based on pure speculation. It's a pure waste of time listening to him except for entertainment.
or a month ago then KD/KI are knicks. Thing is we still have a month and a half and for one of them some basketball games left. I do think that KD could easily change his mind.
Cant wait until the lottery is over, tired of stressing about it and trying to convince myself not to watch it.
Like it or not, Pelicans and Knicks would be good trade partners
if the Knicks land in the top three. If you're the Pelicans you could land Zion/Morant/Barret + two other solid pieces (Knox and Mitch?) + your own top 10 pick this year (someone like Langford?) + Jrue Holiday as a vet leader or trade bait (if you want to go FULL rebuild).
But SAS is so wrong all the time. And when the few times he's ever been right it's based on pure speculation. It's a pure waste of time listening to him except for entertainment.
The pronlem with stephen a hr mentions absolutely everything he hears...
To say the things hr got right are pure speculation is kind of unfair, he has sources he is just blowhard who says everything...

I feel the same way. I feel like if the FA period was starting right now, we probably really would have really good odds at landing KD.
But the fact that we still have all this time between now and then.. and KD being KD, I'm petrified that he'll just change his mind somewhere in between.
So, I'm trying to just not even really get my hopes up... but there's been so much of this noise that it isn't easy.

1 thing that keeps me confident when i start getting nervous about it is deandre jordan..
Knicks told him ok we will buy you out and he stayed, then durant said jordan is in a good spot and he will be fine...

2 guys have already made up there mind they want to play for a 17 win Knick team, with that powerhouse front office of Mills,Perry, and Dolan.
And we're gonna tell you about it every other week
Durant and kyrie to knicks..
kawhi stays in toronto..
kemba to dallas
not going to sign tobias..
Jimmy butler i think stays in philly or goes to lakers..
Klay stayiny in golden state..
Whose left?

Root for the Mavs not getting a top 5 pick, if they do they keep it
He said Lebron was going to Miami. So he had that right. I think he has a lot of sources.
But KD is enigmatic. If everyone starts saying he is going to NY, that makes me worried

As for FA, I think a lot of these guys have already made up their mind where they're going.
