When the New York Giants used the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Clemson defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence, the armchair NFL general managers on social media attacked the pick immediately.
Meanwhile, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman and his scouts stuck to their draft board. They had Lawrence rated so highly for one key reason that had nothing to do with what everyone already knows about him as a prospect -- that he can shut down the run. The Giants noticed something else on game film and it's the same trait they noticed with 2018 third-round draft pick B.J. Hill. Both Lawrence and Hill are massive defensive linemen, but they've also demonstrated the one trait Gettleman believes can be honed in on and will help each player evolve as a pass rusher in the NFL -- they can "flip their hips..." |

Check the video that I posted. In it, a perfect example of Hill flipping his hips was on a spin move rushing uncontested to the passer. I'll try and cue it up.
