Welcome back, Hicksie.
Lasagna scratched from his start - Cessa starting instead. Not clear what the reason is. Per Dune in the other thread - Adams is actually on the lineup card and Loaisiga is not - so, either he's going down, is banged up... not sure. We'll find out soon enough, I'm sure.
Fantastic trip from MIN & gt; TB with the Yanks going 7-3 in that span.
Just a half game behind TB now.
Game might be delayed tonight, but it looks like the rain will be leaving the area around 8. We'll see if they can get it in.
No idea how or when he got hurt, but.. I guess that's just kind of been the theme this year.
Hicks recalled, Tauchman optioned down.
Chance Adams recalled to the pen, Cessa making the spot start.
Seems to be the summary of moves.
Speaking of players made of glass, I also see today where they transferred Bird to the 60-day DL. His time as a Yank is all but up, four years in a row ending very early due to injury.
6p - 100%
7p - 75%
8p - 55%
9p - 35%
10p - 25%
It looks like it's moving out of the area, but probably not until an hour or so beyond scheduled first pitch.
I could see them getting the game in after a delay, but since it's the O's and we've got more games with them, it's probably easy to postpone it if need be.
These are the really frustrating ones. It seems like they just come out of nowhere during side throwing sessions, etc.
It was like this with Severino too. He was scheduled to start a ST game, then got scratched last minute and that was that.
We can survive without him and I don't think Paxton will be out too long beyond his IL span, but man... it's just crazy how these guys just keep getting hurt with seemingly no rhyme or reason.
Hopefully Urshela's regression won't hit too hard.
Oh well, we've been dealing with this shit all year. What's a little more.
Hopefully Urshela's regression won't hit too hard.
Agree - the sooner Andujar has the surgery, the better IMO. hopefully you can have him ready for opening day 2020. Sucks, but it is what it is. I'd rather have it 100% in the past by the time DJLM is looking at free agency again after 2020.
If Urshela tapers off to an untenable level, DJLM can play 3B with Thairo at 2B (until Didi comes back and Torres shifts back to 2B).
We just picked up a triple-A infielder from some other team. Breyvic Valera. (Whoever he is ...)

Wade is probably coming back up. Not ideal... but it's the most logical swap, I would think unless I'm forgetting someone.

per the Post:
The Yankees announced they had claimed Breyvic Valera off waivers from the Giants, and they’ll send the 27-year-old from Venezuela to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, they moved Greg Bird to the 60-day disabled list. Bird, who has said timetables are “pointless,” last played a game April 13.
Valera, a second and third baseman, adds some depth to a farm system that has graduated Gio Urshela and Thairo Estrada, valuable contributors since injuries forced their call-ups.

And he is on the 40 man after Bird was placed on 60 day IL..I don't mind Wade coming up. He is an excellent glove.
As far as Urshela - even if he regresses to .260 or so his glove is still very good. The infield defense has looked soooo much better with Urshela and DJLM it is starke by comparison to last year.
I like that Wade can play all over the field and has speed on the bases - he's just such a weak hitter. His AB's drive me crazy.
But if he's a bench guy and not playing every day, he's fine for now.
It is easy to say that now cause of Paxton getting hurt. But Gonzalez didn't have a place in the rotation. So you would be putting a $3 mill starter in the bullpen with no idea if he can pitch there. All his incentives were geared to start where he would be getting over 300k a start. You might as well sign Keuchel then. Everyone is waiting till after June 2nd so they don't have to give up a draft pick.
Not sure what's going on there, but I guess he's going to be a bit longer. Oh well.
Not sure how the field drains, but they may be better off playing a twi-nighter tomorrow. But it is all about $$$$$$. Last thing they need is a slip and rip injury.
I bet they'll play but won't start until around 730.
As far as Cessa, he threw 3 innings and 45 pitches 5 days ago so im not sure why he can't be stretched out a little more and throw 60 tonight . Boone said he can only go 2 or 3 innings and i dont understand why
Miggy back to IL? Loasiga with shoulder issues?
This season is just unbelievable.
Good news. Should be ready in 3 weeks.
They're going to have to do some work to get that thing dry.

After all, what are paper towels for?
They're going to have to do some work to get that thing dry.
That looks ridiculous. Risking some high priced talent playing in that slop.
The water in the outfield is going to get someone hurt. It's not draining enough. You can literally see huge splashes of water coming out from under their feet every time they walk.
I get that they're trying to get the game played because there are fans there and the teams are out there ready to go, etc... but not only does the OF look dangerous, but the dirt in foul territory is all total slop. Someone's going to wipe out chasing a foul ball. It just looks super sketchy.
On top of that, it's like 40 degrees out.
Asking to get people hurt by forcing this game in.

Baltimore is back here in August. It shouldn't be that hard to make one of those a day/night double dip. The August 14 game is a Wednesday @ 1:05. It's not like this is the last time they're going to be in town.

Yeah but the Yanks are usually pretty good about this type of thing. They'll call games early in the day if they know they can't get it in but the tell tale sign for them is if/when they open the gates.
They usually don't open them if they don't think the can get the game in and once they do open, they'll do whatever they can to play.
Boone until he turns in the player sheet. He should grow a pair and call it off. (If he doesn't, any injury involving the poor field condition is going to be on him.)

Lol. I don't think Boone is 100% in control of the lineup everyday, so I have a hard time believing he'd be in charge of making this call.
