Given the line, what will Barkley achieve this year?

Face Pepler : 5/13/2019 6:17 pm
How many yards rushing? Yards from scrimmage? TDs?
I am really excited to see what Saquon can do in his second year behind a better line in an offense that will unquestionably run through him.
What are your predictions?
1850 / 2600 / 13

Not bad
5 yards/carry last year

behind a bad OL

Sky = limit
HOF type season
The_Boss : 5/13/2019 7:55 pm : link
1500-1600 rushing yards
700-800 receiving yards
20 TDís
3,000 Total yards from scrimmage

book it. From my lips to "touched by the hand of" gods ears.
Starts out like a gangbuster....

300 yards rushing over first 2 games....150 yards receiving. Then sustains a leg injury....limps to the end of the season with like 500 yards rushing.

Obviously not rooting for this but it's probably more likely than him gettin 3,000 yards from scrimmage like some are suggesting.

if so and he just repeats what he did last year i'll be happy.
A) We really don't know how this OL will perform
BlueLou'sBack : 5/13/2019 8:47 pm : link
yet. It's not exactly a reincarnation of the Rams lines that blocked for Dickerson or the Electric company that blocked for OJ.

Second, defenses will have their sights set on stopping SB 1st and foremost, until Eli tears some one or two teams up through the air, you can bank on that shit game 1 down in Dallas. Bet the house on it. Is this OL good enough to handle a D stacked against the run? Lordy that remains to be seen.
Itís on Coach S

Has a reputation for running a good O from Minn. He better learn from last year with SB. Please show play action on 1st/ 2nd down to keep the D honest. The loss of OBJ shouldnít prevent an NFL team from completing a GD !! - first yard on first down pass to the TE with a QB pulling in $ 20 million. For fucks sake. Dallas is literally going to be laughing at our O the first series while looking at Eli stating- we arenít scared of you whatsoever.

What the hell dude?
Eric Dickerson rushed for over 2000 yards

in his 2nd season in the NFL. The Giants are going to run the ball a ton and this line is going to help Barkley a great deal. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him rip off a 1700 yard season and if everything breaks right, a 2000 yard season isn't out of the realm of possibility.
If Engram can play like he did the end of the year. He had almost 600
fredgbrown : 5/14/2019 12:54 am : link
yds in 11 games played. He has to stay on the field and get 800 to 900 yds that would help out Barkley a lot.
It quite possible that 2018
ron mexico : 5/14/2019 6:33 am : link
Will be his best statistical year. And that's ok.

I've seen countless Giants get thrown under the bus for not meeting fans unrealistic expectations after a strong start. Hope that doesn't happen here.
I expect him to have a great year
Milton : 5/14/2019 6:42 am : link
I'm sure his numbers will be excellent, but if the result of teams putting eight in the box and shadowing him with a safety is that our receivers all have career years at his expense, then who cares if Barkley breaks no records.

Shurmur will need to find creative ways to get him the ball in space, but part of that is being creative about getting the ball to other playmakers when Barkley is the focus of the defense.
It may take the oline 4 games
section125 : 5/14/2019 7:29 am : link
or so to get in sync. The entire right side and the center have not played together.

I would expect SB's numbers to be slightly better than last year.
Tough to say since yes the OL is a little better

BUT the receiving threat has diminished. Teams will stack the box against the Giants this coming season for sure. I, a fan of the run game, am thinking the Giants will have to prove they can still throw the ball to keep defenses honest. Their pass game will be short to intermediate routes so get use to that now. Lot's of dump-offs. There's nothing wrong with that and I don't know why people complain so much when it happens. It still gets the ball down the field and as long as the passes are caught, it can be as good as running the ball. The Patriots have thrived on this for Brady's whole career.

However, teams were already stacking the box last year towards the end since OBJ wasn't playing. Against the Redskins (2nd game) I counted up to 10 in the box to try to stop Barkley and they still couldn't do it. Give this man some daylight and he will still average 5 yards per IMHO. As always, I fear the Giants will still not favor the run like they should.

A legit deep threat would go a long way (only a little punny). Can Cody Latimer lock down that role?

Come on, admit it. That is exactly what you're rooting for.

Bingo. No matter how good your OL is, it's math - if you have more guys to tackle than they have to block, you're probably going to win. We need our wides to step up, that will make teams think twice about stacking the box.
All teams will be stacking to stop him, until Eli and the passing game
SterlingArcher : 5/14/2019 12:25 pm : link
proves they are any good they won't back off.
my guess...

1500 rushing, 9 tds; 1100 receiving, 6 tds; one fumble
