Mac must've been as big of an asshole as the media portrayed him to be. I mean he gets the (the hopeful) franchise QB last year, he gets the BPA in this year's draft, he spends a SHIT TON of money in FA...And they can him?
Don't forget Adams. He had 3 top players "fall" to him and it still wasn't enough.

One disagreement between Adam Gase and Mike Maccagnan/Christopher Johnson...
Gase absolutely did not want to sign LeVeon Bell, per sources. In fact, he made it clear that he didnt want to spend a lot of money on any running back.

Kevin Sirkin @KS1988NYJ 5m .
And now Bell will report to camp in a few weeks to play for the coach that didn't want him...can't imagine anything going wrong here #Jets

Because that's a BS espn/bbi narrative. Clearly they flubbed on Mayfield and got sloppy seconds Darnold and couldn't trade down. Quite possibly because no one could read Gettleman.
Had a very good offseason: got Leveon Bell and CJ Mosley and drafted Quennen Williams at 3, not to mention last years draft of Sam Darnold . Jets are just fcukin dumb
He way OVERPAID for Mosley. The only way the Jets could sign him as he wanted to stay with the Ravens.
He lost out on the LB from Minny, who agreed and then changed his mind.
NO OTHER TEAM wanted Bell. He was literally bidding against himself.
He FAILED to trade back and acquire picks.
A blind squirrel could have made the Williams pick at 3.
You have to give him credit for trading up to 3 last year for a QB (Darnold fell to him), but again, he paid a HUGE price to move from 6 to 3.
Just months after NFLN Draft Analyst Mike Mayock took the Raiders GM job, his replacement Daniel Jeremiah is under serious consideration for a prominent front-office position with the NY Jets, per sources. NFLN Draft Analyst job has become breeding ground for front-office jobs.

Holy shit let this happen lol. That would be ridiculous.

Darnold is still TBD, he hasn't shown anything yet to make someone think he's really good. If he is just a journeyman type guy, then last years draft was a disaster for the Jets
but if in fact the coach and GM were at loggerheads and the situation couldn't be mediated then they had to fire one or the other. Timing is bad but the Panthers fired Gettleman at a similar point in time a few years ago and went on to have a good season.
RE: Got this from my Jets fan friend a few weeks ago
who is close with someone in the jets organization ,this is the email the guy in the organization sent him the day after round one of the draft
Remember after FA when I said i heard there was a rift between Mac and Gase already? Well according to my very reliable source within the Jets organization, not only is it 100% true, but it is BAD! Its stems from a few things. 1) Gase being a type A psycho control freak who is now realizing his loss of personal power kind of sucks and look at Mac as a lame duck GM, 2) the apparent fact that Mac is totally wishy washy and cant make a decision and 3) Free agency. There were two players Gase really wanted in FA that Mac would not go after. One, as we discussed prior was Paradis. Gase wanted him, Paradis wanted the Jets, for whatever reason Mac said no. The other was a TE from Cleveland (cant recall his name) that Mac also said no to. And this really pissed off Gase. Also while the organization doesnt totally blame Mac for the Barr debacle, they are pissed that it made the team look so bad and also that Mac had no plan B and now they still need an edge rusher. Rumor (unconfirmed) is that there was a chance Mac was going to be canned after the draft...again totally unconfirmed.
There was a dinner last Wednesday between Gase, Mac and a moderator to try and mend the rift. i dont know if all is well or not now but that prior Gase was trying to do what he could to force Mac out. So the dysfunction continues....
Other briefs ON The draft not saying all are true, just what i heard.
Big Fred, thanks for sharing. I was listening to Dave Te's podcast before the draft and he was saying that the word was McCagnan was going to be fired right after the draft and that power struggle was a mess.
To not have your coach and GM on the same page, particularly a new coach with a spotty track record, as they put together the team during the offseason and then fire the GM right now has to be a joke move and one which basically signals that Gase is coaching a team that he didn't really want.
At the very least, we can see that Gettleman and Shurmur are on the same page.
but if in fact the coach and GM were at loggerheads and the situation couldn't be mediated then they had to fire one or the other. Timing is bad but the Panthers fired Gettleman at a similar point in time a few years ago and went on to have a good season.
I agree, but that's a pretty bad look since Gase hasn't even been on the job for 6 months. Why hire a HC that didn't have chemistry with your GM? Or why keep the GM if you felt that HC was a must hire?

Fairly sure that DG was fired b/c of the sexual predator Richardson, not b/c of the head coach.
was Carolina fired their GM and went on their merry way and had a good season. People overreact to these things like this especially a guy like Bonigno who seems love being miserable over the Jets. They fired their GM. They will get a new one. Maybe they will be better for it.
He will be in hiding for the forseeable future. That is until Darnold throws a td in the preseason then he will grace us with his presence and predict an MVP season for Darnold.

It's a completely different situation. The GM had built the team with players that the head coach wanted. And the head coach had been there for six years - and went to the Super Bowl in one of those years.
Unless there is some young player personnel guy out there itching to get a GM job, there is no way anyone is going to hitch their wagon to Gase.
And how long does Williams stay around now that Maccagnan is gone?
Popcorn anyone? This should be fun to watch.

Or unless Gase already had someone lined up.

Let the current state of the #Jets sink in:
They
1) Allowed Maccagnan to pick the head coach
2) Allowed Maccagnan to spend all their money in free agency
3) Allowed Maccagnan to run their draft
Now theyve fired Maccagnan
Thats incompetence like Ive never seen before
Because that's a BS espn/bbi narrative. Clearly they flubbed on Mayfield and got sloppy seconds Darnold and couldn't trade down. Quite possibly because no one could read Gettleman.
Where this isn't a story, expect a NYDN reporter to create one out of thin air.
You are trying too hard to troll at this point.

I fear the jets are a lock for TLaw.

Hand of God was obvious to anyone, except many of the coach killer fans on bbi, everyone was shocked by Jones.

Joke of a team lol
I wouldn't put it past the Jets to hire a pro personnel director who is in jail.
