Odell Beckham Jr.actually believed that being traded from New York to Cleveland would end the constant obsession with his comings and goings.
OBJ's whereabouts continue to be a major discussion point during his first offseason with the Browns, primarily because he has spent so little time with the Browns. After showing up for the first day of the offseason program, Beckham stayed away from the team until Tuesday, the first day of Organized Team Activities. And, after that one day, he’s gone

Fun facts.
Fun facts.
What does that mean?
Giants record in games Eli has started the last two seasons is 8 - 23.
Is that a fun fact?

and not knowing the playbook? Neither do I.
I'm going to hunt down every one of you after OBJ has 30 more receptions, 400 more yards and 5 more touchdowns than any wide receiver on the Giants.
Actually, he didn't know the playbook. That's why there was so much frustration with him last year.
That wasn't reported as I recall. Where does that info come from? Certainly that would have made Shurmur, his biggest supporter, sour on him. Eli too I guess.
Gordon's particular issues and very brief peak make him a bad comp for Beckham, but the potential was ridiculous.
The time he's going to spend running around putting pins back into hand grenades is going to be make this the year this longest of his life...

Bob Papa on SiriusXM has reported on this as recently as last week while responding to a caller and discussing OBJ with Charlie Weiss. Basically this particular caller was bashing Eli for not throwing the ball to OBJ. In response, Bob pointed out that on numerous occasions last season, OBJ was not in the right position as called for by the play design. As usual, Eli would not throw OBJ under the bus in post game interviews.

We’ll see. He’s played 59 of a possible 80 games in 5 seasons, let’s see if he can stay on the field.

Yeah, he's all heart. Great teammate. At least he left us with this image before taking the last four games of the season off:
This really has been a wonderful, hilarious offseason.
That is a shameful clip. That may be his Cam moment. Both are special players though. But if you have a choice, you trade high.

Interested to see 5 years from now if OBJ was simply a gifted talent who couldn't put it all together a la Josh Gordon.
Josh Gordon would have had to have done anything close to Bekcham's production to warrant such an idiotic comparison.
87 catches, 1646 yards, 9 TDs ...
You can say a lot of things about Gordon, but he is without a doubt 1 of the most talented WRs in the game. Shame he couldn’t work out those “demons” ... incredible talent, on par with the top WRs in the NFL including Odell
Biggest waste of talent I’ve ever seen. “Flash” Gordon - ( New Window )
Odell has had three of those seasons. OBJ has 44 career TDs already. There's no way you can compare Gordon and Beckham NFL career wise. To suggest that Beckham never put it all together is ridiculous.
It's a big part of what makes the whole trade easy to swallow. That's a heartless play out of a guy who choked in his only post season game. We got Dexter, Peppers, and X man for him plus a ton of cap space. That's a fair deal. We get younger as a team and build around defense, like we used to.
If I was in his situation, I would skip all the OTAs..

At no point did I ever say anything remotely close to what your arguing against ...
the rookies show up right? i bet free agents do to...
why not OBJ? does he know the playbook already? supposedly he hardly knew ours.
it's just a reflection on his dedication. no other way to spin it.
i do however remember hearing something about him missing meetings due to a previously scheduled vacation that didn't align with the browns schedule. is that what this is or has that already passed?

No, I wouldn’t care. He’s a superstar vet and as long as he produces when it matters, I wouldn’t give it a nanosecond of thought. He will bond with his mates soon enough. No biggie for this fan

he's a superstar vet as a Giant though. this isn't like Strahan skipping OTA's in his umpteenth year with the giants. he's on a completely different team.
The scrutiny and expectation on the players is not fair based on the CBA agreed to by the players and the NFLPA.
mandatory? different story.
but don't make it optional and then make players out to be selfish or uncaring because they don't spend the whole time there.
Fair point, and I agree. I think most people feel that they would have done the last few weeks of joining a new organization a bit differently than OBJ.
Looking forward to the reaction of the most loyal fans in the NFL, Browns fans. What a missed opportunity for the young man to start fresh in Cleveland like LeBron. 🤓
Is OBJ a great talent? Yes, no doubt. Is he a great teammate? Not even close, and his 'popularity' among his peers is irrelevant to that fact.

The Giants lost that game.
His career in a nutshell
He has said so little, none of which warrants this reaction. People are acting like he pulled a Terrell Owens. Stop. Every single post game interview he's been nothing but a team guy. Even after that Eagles loss he was reasonable and positive.
Look, he's a very passionate, emotional player. He's also a popular target for contempt. But let's stop acting like he's a locker room issue. The team loves him. He's a fixture in the locker room. He could have absolutely handled the interview better. But he so immediately realized that, and stood up in front of the team and addressed them in earnest, remarking that he was very nervous to get up and address the entire team, but also that it was well received. The game they then played was their most electric of the season. He has said so little, none of which warrants this reaction. People are acting like he pulled a Terrell Owens. Stop. What in the fuck could you possibly talking about here?
Thanks a ton for the migraine.
''Listen, I have never disputed the fact that it is not important for him to be here, but it is also important for him to be mentally ready to be here,'' Kitchens said following practice. ''I'm not giving him an out by any stretch of imagination, and nobody here knows the conversations that Odell and I have. I'm just saying it is better for him to be here when he can present his best self - emotionally, physically, everything.
Hmm. I guess he isn't "emotionally" ready to be there. LOL.
Practice? Beckham spends 1 day with Browns, leaves again - ( New Window )
Is Tom Brady in a brand new offense will all new teammates?

I think he’s trying to say he’s a very passionate, emotional player
Being traded is often viewed as a humbling experience. His attitude with Cleveland up to now seems to show he s determined to demonstrate he has not been humbled at all.
I ve wanted him off the Giants for a while. History has enough evidence to show you can win without a diva WR.
And if the Giants passing game is struggling God help this place.

No one said he was an issue for his teammates. He was an issue for those running the organization.
And if the Giants passing game is struggling God help this place.
There's almost no doubt the Browns will "win" the trade in 2019 just like the Chargers did when they put Merriman and co on the field.
The key will be afterward.

The passing game struggled with him on the field. Though more fault of the shitty o-line, and people will freak out here over anything.
I think OBJ lost a bit off of his fastball last year from the ankle injury, I’m curious to see if he gets it back with another year for it to heal.
Come on now, you know that the coaches are not allowed and would not say anything more than what kitchens said in regards to any player not attending a voluntary OTA.
By all accounts, John Mara was not happy with the interview Beckham did last year, but it was not reported until after he was traded. You can not seriously take coach speak and say that is how they feel.
