I know its been discussed but I cant stop talking about this kid. I think we got the steal of the draft with him. I watched him for years at ND and he is worth gushing over. I know we picked Baker rd 1 but this kid could be very special. To get him in rd 4??? AWESOME!!!! To the other teams that passed on him in rd 2 and 3...SUCKERS!!!!!
Plus this kid is a real team player. CB...FS he can play where ever he is needed. If Baker and Beal work out to be good starting cbs then we can use him at FS.
Good in man or zone...Breaks up passes with ease..
Needless to say I will be watching him very close in his first camp. We got a baller with this kid.
here is his draft profile...Higlights to come..

love baby!!!! - ( New Window )
I assumed he’d go during the early round 2 CB run ... Love and Connelly were a great way to start day 3
Slot CB/FS and eventual Bethea replacement @ FS
I was just thinking, why did we draft Baker and Ballantine because all we needed is Love.
After awhile, I was just like, man, this dude is always in the right spot!
:D
How so? McCourty was a first round pick, Love was a 4th. Not seeing the player acquisition connection.
I expect the 2020 Secondary to be:
Love & Peppers at S
Beal & Baker outside CB
Ballentine/Haley @ Slot
Lots o’ young/talent/potential

Can't help but think of Devin McCourty.

A low 1st rounder. Neither were combine freaks, more cerebral CBs who are versatile enough to plug into to FS. If Love ran under 4.5 40 he would have been a 1st rounder.

in terms of value. I still cant believe that he fell to the 4th round. He will likely serve as the nickelback this year with a chance to replace Jenkins next year. He might also be a candidate to move to FS next year. He will receive a lot of playing time this season regardless.

I have a feeling that either Love or Ballentine end up at safety.

Good call ... in Bettcher’s scheme they’ll likely play a couple different roles ... he’s had formations with like 4-5 “safeties” on the field in the past
Love both of these players ... pun not intended but sort of
Totally agree with the Jones comment. All the talking heads giving the Giants a bad grade for this draft based on DJ when the rest of the class looks so promising. There is never any guarantee on any pick but for crying out loud anything I read and hear about the other picks is very promising and none were reaches Love for example was a steal and you gotta love the Baker pick. Xman may not contribute much this year beyond specials but looks like he's going to be worth his spot too.
I believe next year we may have the best secondary in the Nfl.

Lawrence & Hill
Golden, Ogletree, Peppers, Carter
Jenkins Baker Beal Love Bethea
could be a fun personnel grouping like the photo linked

In regards last years draft, we got Barkley with pick number 2 - never drafted that high before. Hernandez could be a solid LG, no one else has proven anything, Hill maybe... Lauletta looks like a wasted high 4th rounder so far.

Hill was better than maybe. He seems like the real deal.
Love...exciting and new.
Plays CB. Can play Safety, too.
And Love...fell to the 4th Round.
What a break. He was still around!
The Giants...drafted a whole new crop of CB's.
First Baker. And Ballantine who they picked, Day 3.
In between they got lucky and Love was still on the board.
And Love...can play in the slot.
A Swiss Army Knife...that's what Bettcher's got.
It's Lovoooooove!
Go get the ball, it's Loooooooove!
Baby don't hurt me?
Sorry could help it
:D
The '85 draft gave us one starter, Bavaro.
I still wanted a RT or center hope Remmers and Halapio
are healthy Halapio has to win the spot Remmers
just need to be above average .
