My almost 20-year old, self-wired surround system is on its last legs. And dealing with all of the speaker wires that come loose every time I move the receiver around is driving me nuts.
I was thinking about getting a soundbar, but the reviews seem to suggest for a room of 20x15, the surround system is still the way to go.
However, in looking at the wireless option, many of the systems that label themselves as "wireless" don't seem to be completely wireless.
I'm also wondering with the technology changing so much if I should bite the bullet and upgrade my receiver.
Wired or wireless? I'm not reading that wireless isn't ideal because it can be affected by interference/WiFi connection.
There are a lot of soundbars out now that have the bar, maybe a sub (some have built in subs which might be plenty for a small room), and wireless surround speakers. Unfortunately, I don't own something like that (I do have a sound bar with built in subwoofer, but no surround for a small room and it works great. Not 5.1, but I'm happy with it).
