Now. I want you all to understand Plaxico was my all time favorite Giant. He made plays and I got excited when the ball would go his way. Eli would throw the ball 28 feet over his head but Plax still came down with it. Great red-zone target for Eli.
I was getting into a heated argument at work today with this idiot who would only talk about Burress shooting himself whenever his name came up during Giants talk. I said, look, this is the guy who caught the winning touchdown in Super Bowl but nope he kept talking about the gun incident.
I said sorry if you are way too moronic to only see the bad things athletes did and youre a Giant fan? Why even bother? He should be a hero to you. And like Coughlin said at least you didn't shoot someone else!
He wouldn't give up and just wouldn't listen to someone smarter than he was. There are ton of other instances, I guess Bill Buckner bobble or Jim Mora playoffs rant defined him over his career.
Now try to understand what I am saying here, what athletes body of work has been canceled out by one thing or one bad play?

No matter how many amazing plays that guy can make, discussions always default back to that damn throw lol.
but that butt-fumble was just as pathetic as his career was. Good summation of the ol "Sanchize"!

You didn't specify that the player had to Canton bound. I'm not going to debate Sanchez's career. But for a guy who has hung around for 10 years with $74M in career earnings while taking the Jets to the playoffs, he certainly should be remembered for more plays and not just running into the backside of his OL.
was also a big fan of the naked gun movies and also thought he was just an actor because he was really funny in that role

I know I just love taking a shit on the Jets. *Pause, Look around* Stupid Jets! [Kevin from SP joke]
But imagine having a conversation in which you just wanted to talk about Carruth or OJ the player. It would be hard.
So Plax gets some of that. But then again so does Pete Rose. You can't see Pete without thinking about the gambling. And Pete was better than Plax by a mile.
Not many, if any, of the were dumb enough to shoot themselves.

Fine you want to be a jerk and make fun of the guy if you're an Eagle or worthless Dallas fan that's fine.
BUT if you're a Giant fan and letting that eat his catch in a magical moment in Super Bowl 42 and his great Giants days, what does that tell you about that person?
For as long as she has been around and all of those accomplishments, first vision I have of her is that little meltdown she had almost a year ago at the US Open.
Something about not getting the right call and how it correlates to her having a daughter somehow? Hahaha.

Are we jealous that they can do things we could never do and once they make a mistake, we're quick to trash them?
Good points.

I think more people blame Pete Carroll for not having Lynch run it.

In Plaxicos case, I don’t think it says anything about society. He was a super rich dude that acted like an asshole, knowingly committed a felony, and managed to make a fool of himself while doing so.
People like Norwood, Buckner, etc... made errors and missed a huge field goal, Plaxico decided to take the gun out and paid the price. It’s only because he is a former athlete that he is even mentioned again, probably also the reason for his sentence. I imagine and I hope you wouldn’t stick up for some Giant player that beats his wife, why waste your time sticking up for a guy who decided to put other humans in harms way? Am I willing to forgive him? Absolutely, he didn’t end up hurting anyone other than himself and the Giants that season. He is still an asshole for doing it.
I think you are looking too much as Plaxico as the victim of cruel and mean fans. He made all his money because of his ability and those fans. He played well for the Giants, but he also singlehandedly probably cost them one of the most promising seasons in Eli’s career. Plaxico goes into the category of Vick and other people that committed crimes, he doesn’t go into the bad moment on the field guys like a Buckner Norwood etc...
Wasn't that Chuck Knobloch? Or the Yankees had two 2bmen that couldn't throw to 1b?
the brasilian team that lost 0-6 to the germans.
garo yepremian. Cam Newton superbowl fumble.
the umpire that ruined a perfect game Jim Joyce.
Grrrr.
Please don't bring this name up.
:-)
Why waste my time? Because he contributed to a New York Giants championship and he was my favorite Giant.
As I said, he only hurt himself. While stupid, it still doesn't erase the memory of the game winning catch against an 18-0 team.
The beating wife comparison was aimless as well. I know you just have that "Stick up for the other guy or go against the OP" mentality the internet has.

If I was the pitcher, the manager, 3rd base coach bench player or someone else not important during this I would've broken Joyce's jaw over this.
Some lousy teammates that guy has had.

Respectfully, I have no idea what you are trying to say. I am not going against you or for you, as I am not arguing any point. However, if you think that all Giants fans have to think he is a hero because of his stint here and just forget about the shooting himself incident, I don’t know what to tell you. At no point was I attacking you, sticking up for the other guy, or anything of the sort. Post what you want, read what you want, think what you want. Good luck
Mickey Owen was the catcher for the Dodgers. Tommy Henrich of the Yanks strikes out for the third out and the Dodgers win. But wait the pitch hits Owens glove and gets passed him as Henrich reaches first base. Yankees continue batting and take a 7-4 lead. Dodgers go down in the bottom of the ninth.
Yankees lead Series now 3-1. They win the next game to take the Series and the phrase “Wait till next year” is born.
