Saw them tonight at the Beacon. Awesome acoustic guitar duo. The encore included a snippet of their Metallica Orion cover Orion Metallica cover - ( New Window )
Just saw Matthew Logan Vazquez on Thursday at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. I still don't understand how this dude is so underrated. Former lead singer of Delta Spirit, member of Middle Brother and now solo as MLV. So talented and my wife described.... "one of the most consistent rock performances year after year". Trailer Park - ( New Window )
An actual treat on Thursday was that Matt brought up his old guitarist from Delta Spirit and they played this song, which is one of my favorites. They haven't played this song in four years since Delta Spirit split ways.... such a great song. California - ( New Window )
I got to catch Brian Fallon at Crossroads in Garwood (former lead singer of Gaslight Anthem) and while he's got tons of songs that I'd suggest everyone listen to, I'll link one that I love that he played with a band they called "molly and the zombies" Red Lights - ( New Window )
These guys are awesome live Small Talk (Feeling Control) - ( New Window ) Same here. I saw them at Maxwell’s in Hoboken shortly before they closed the place down and man did WD put on one of the most spellbinding performances of my life.
Yessir they are. "D" is one of my favorite albums of the past 10 years.
Joe Robinson with Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross.... Â
Just released their latest album. Going to see them in June in Prospect Park. Can’t wait.

One of my favorite bands but I'm afraid they don't replicate their sound well live. The drummer is still the shit, but there is something too sterile and contained about their performance.

Agree with this. They reminded me a little of Depeche Mode version 2 when I first started listening to them, and then I save them live.
Not close to Depeche Mode live - and I'm not a huge Depeche Mode fan, but anyway, I like the National somewhat, but not great live.
Their songs just don't come across well live without the production, and they're not presented with an energy to compensate.
Radiohead can get away without the production value from their album because their live dynamics are awe inspiring. The National kept making me wish they'd turn it up 30%.

Not quite the Beach Boys....
I believe this was recorded before the Beach Boys.
It was an old song even then.

Take Back the Power
Good pipes for a female ska/punk lead if you don't find her annoying.
The Specials would be proud, and they'd hate her. Rancid founder is their producer.
