NFT: Kyrie to Nets; Durant to Knicks?

PhilSimms15 : 5/19/2019 10:35 am
The Boston Herald claims that there are rumors that while Kyrie and KD want to team up, Kyrie wants the Nets and KD wants the Knicks.

What I don’t understand is why the Nets would want Kyrie. Kyrie will get a max. Shouldn’t Russell also get a max? And of course Dinwiddie is also a good player at the point. That would be a ton of money invested in the PG position.

So even if Kyrie wants the Nets, do the Nets, and their fans want him?
Link - ( New Window )
It is based off of 1 agent apparently
nygiants16 : 5/19/2019 10:52 am : link
The same source said he has been told it is a smokescreen, who knows..

Is the nets gutted really that much better than the knicks?
Also if kyrie really wants the nets
nygiants16 : 5/19/2019 10:55 am : link
makes the report that durant is recruiting players make sense...

also remember the reports about kyrie to nets mainly have been his "people" pushing the nets and him wanting the knicks
.
threeofakind33 : 5/19/2019 10:56 am : link
Nets fans do not want Kyrie without KD.

Unclear if the Nets org wants Kyrie.
If this was the opposite
nygiants16 : 5/19/2019 10:59 am : link
durant wants nets and kyrie wants knivks it would make more sense..

Kyrie to the nets makes no sense for both parties
Good, give me KD and Kemba

Agree. Want no part of Kyrie

Also, to build.

I don’t think the Nets are the second unnamed team in that article. I think the second team is the Clippers (ie they only want Kyrie if Kawhi says he wants to play with him in LA).

The Nets front office is one of the most leak-proof in the NBA. This kind of stuff almost certainly isn’t coming from them. No one seems to have any idea what Brooklyn is aiming to do. All of the KD/Kyrie/Butler to the Nets talk seems to be coming from the agent-side.

Nets FO may want him over Russell or they may have crossed him off entirely. No one knows.
Im not sure

I wouldn’t say I prefer him, but he may be a better fit for the Knicks with KD, assuming he comes. Kyrie is younger and a much better player so that trumps all. There’s just something about putting Kyrie with Durant that scares me. They are both incredibly thin skinned and Kyrie in particular is extremely moody and things could go downhill quickly if they start to struggle.

I’d still take Kyrie but I absolutely understand others preferring Kemba

Kyrie and AD

I really don't want any part of Kyrie either. He is an injury prone malcontent. I will not sell the farm and all our future draft picks for Anthony Davis.

They need maintain a healthy balance of draft picks and free agency. My dream acquisition is; KD, AD and draft Morant.
you're
MookGiants : 5/19/2019 12:26 pm : link
not winning a title with Kemba as your 2nd best player. We already know that you can win a title with Kyrie as your 2nd best player because it actually happened.

I know Kyrie turned a lot of people off this year, but there's no debate who is the better player. Sure, there are some issues and risks involved with Kyrie, but I have no interest in Kemba.
I don't think
MookGiants : 5/19/2019 12:30 pm : link
there's anything Kemba does better than Kyrie.

Kyrie is also 2 years younger.

I understand peoples concerns with Kyrie, but I don't understand people preferring the lesser player.
I would be upset at first
hitdog42 : 5/19/2019 12:48 pm : link
Then warm up immediately to the kyrie dlo swap as I’m quite certain they wouldn’t do that if there were not more things on the follow.
Performance team and coaching staff would be a big sell for kyrie
If we didnt get Kyrie..
Italianju : 5/19/2019 12:53 pm : link
Id rather just use some cap space to absorb AD or a similar type deal. I’ll roll with DSJ for a fraction of the cost. I don’t mind Kemba but I’m not maxing him out.

Says there were rumblings that durant and knicks had secret meeting and have handshake agreement
I wonder if they're weighing
bceagle05 : 5/19/2019 3:03 pm : link
making an AD trade first and absorbing him into their cap, so they won't have to gut the roster just to match salaries. New Orleans may have even told the Knicks they're not interested in Knox and/or Frank and won't accept them for the sake of matching salaries, so do the trade now. Knicks could sign KD and have a decent amount of money to add a couple of role players.
So when does the tampering
hitdog42 : 5/19/2019 3:21 pm : link
Investigation start if that is the case lol

Last 3 years...

Kemba: 241 Games
Kyrie: 199 Games

Kyrie (24.5 PPG / .552 eFG%) has been a better scorer than Kemba (23.7 PPG / .518 eFG%) these last 3 years. Kyrie is a little better at everything outside of but Kemba has been far more durable recently.

Durability edge combined with the fact that Kemba seems to be a superior teammate are a decent argument for him over Kyrie.

Kemba would not be a terrible 3rd option. And he would LOVE coming back to the Mecca.

While this may be true, Kemba has never gotten to play with an in his prime LeBron. I mean, who is the best player Kemba has ever played with?

Kyrie is CLEARLY the better player, and younger, but he's also a weird dude. I think he'd be fine as a 2nd banana to KD, but you do have to consider how his personality fits into a locker room. It didn't work very well in Boston this year.
All the questions about Kyrie have to do with his head

Magic Johnson destroyed Pelinka on First Take.

Knew it was only a matter of time before Magic spoke - that bizarre presser wasn't gonna cut it. I'm loving this Laker dysfunction.
Magic was told by people in the league and media
bceagle05 : 5/20/2019 1:50 pm : link
that Pelinka was spreading stories about Magic not working hard enough (though it's probably true). Pelinka wanted his job. I'm sure Phil and Rambis will straighten everything out in Lakerland.

Kyrie's argument will always be whipping Steph Curry's ass so badly in the Finals that the next season when the teams faced off again, the Cavs made Klay Thompson guard him. As for how he's viewed as a teammate, his situation was basically a lowercase version of KD's in Golden State. It was just missing the blatant Draymond Green "We don't need you" blowup. However, all the young kids on the Celtics obviously felt that way. They're as much to blame as he is. I'm not worried about Kyrie once he's finally in a situation of his own choosing.

That shot he buried in game 7 was easily the most clutch shot in the NBA in the last decade. The fact that he had the balls to take and make it with Lebron on the team should tell you all you need to know. he can be a weird dude, but there's no arguing with his #'s.

Kyrie offensively can take over a game when he's in a zone. And we know he is a gamer. I like his game on the court alot. Apparently so does KD.
Durant starting to fire back at people (including Broussard)

It is funny he attacked him for that but didnt attack him for saying durant is recruiting people to knicks...

Itnis funny for all the talk about him to knicks he has not attacked a single report about it
Some conflicting reports but

so it's probably nonsense. I don't expect him to be a Knick next year though.

You aren’t getting anything quality in a return and his value couldn’t be lower, therefore I would hold on to him. I actually think he will play better with better scorers on the team.
Holy crap

Durant is one of the weirdest

Athletes I’ve seen when it comes to pressure.

He clearly feels pressure from the media and fans. The way he responds on twitter against guys like Broussard is one thing, but creating burners and coming at fans? That’s soft. He cares a little too much.

But then he goes out and delivers in the playoffs and especially Finals. Cavs D sucked the last couple of years but he still eviscerated them to secure his status as an all-time scoring machine.

Odd dude. Him and Kyrie as the faces of a New York squad would be interesting.
I think the Dubs success without KD
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 5/20/2019 9:01 pm : link
these last 4 games only makes it more likely he's gone. I still think he's a 99.9% a Knick come 7/1.
