Fantasy Football this year

Is Saquan Barkley the consensus #1 player?

I was talking to a friend the other night and, bias aside, we couldn’t think of another player we’d rather have with the 1st pick.

What say you BBI?
Yes

.
Barkley in a PPR league for sure.

In a non-PPR league, I'd still take him #1, but many people would take Zeke.
A couple of sites that I've seen
MadMax : 5/20/2019 5:48 pm : link
list the Elliott as the number 1 player. But, I would take Barkley all day long, especially in a keeper league.

had a fantasy article last week and rated Barley as the top pick for 2019.

Barkley
Agree

But I think his receptions are way down and they will work him more so overall touches will be down.
I'm in 1 league

that I put together almost 20 years ago, that I quit being the commissioner of almost 15 years ago and have been trying to quit since over 5 years ago.

I told them I'm not playing this year unless they can guarantee me Saquan is on my team.

Can't stand the shit anymore, but if I had Saquan...
If not #1, then very close...

will depend upon how pre-season plays out with the other guys in the league and whether we think Barkley will see a lot of passes.
Truly depends on scoring settings.

Some leagues lean heavily towards QB’s then I would be inclined to take Mahomes
It's Barkley or Zeke at 1
YAJ2112 : 5/20/2019 10:41 pm : link
and I'd say Barkley is the safer option.

Mahomes at 1.1? Unless it's a 2 QB league, you're doing it wrong.
I don't believe it's at all debatable.

I got offered Gurley plus a draft pick swap for Saquon last November just before the deadline and declined without a 2nd thought.

And I'm really concerned about Gurley.

FWIW FF Toolbox has Saquon as the top player in both standard and PPR.

Standard has Zeke 2nd, then Kamara, Mahomes, and McCaffrey rounding out the top 5. Gurley right now is 10th in standard.

In PPR, it's McCaffrey, Kamara, Elliott, and DeAndre Hopkins following Saquon in the top spot.

Saquon is a generational stud, and it's being reflected in fantasy.

I think he's going for 2200 plus yards from scrimmage this year, assuming 16 games, and 20, yes 20 TDs. I think we're going to start seeing some LaDainian type scoring, and that's because DG has guys blocking all over the field. Saquon is going to break a lot of long ones this year.
who's the rookie RB this year?
Platos : 5/20/2019 10:59 pm : link
i think david montgomery is the steal this year. love how he runs.

What do I do with Gurley?
Mr. Nickels : 5/20/2019 11:51 pm : link
I am in a keeper league.

I probably am just keeping him.

Well, the poster did say if it were a league that was skewed toward QB play. If that were the case, I can’t argue with their pick.
It would have to be some serious skewing
YAJ2112 : 5/21/2019 11:28 am : link
And not just 6 pt TDs. I'd still be hard pressed to see passing on a top 3 RB for again QB likely to come back to the field, especially with no Tyreek.
Mahomes
pjcas18 : 5/21/2019 12:00 pm : link
is clearly the #1 QB this year, but that puts him best case top 20 in a QB heavy league (6pts per passing TD), considering him #1 is an awful move IMO.

If a league scoring system favors passing stats, then you should actually wait to draft a QB as late as possible.
Would like to throw this out there

While I do think that Saquon and Zeke are the top choices, I would like to say that from studies I've done I've come to find that in just the last few years wide receivers have become equally important as running backs in fantasy football. The long-held notion was always that running backs are the most valuable players in fantasy football, and you're more often than not better off starting RBs in flex spots if you've got them, because of their sheer number of touches they get in the run and pass game. But the NFL has become such a pass-first league that I have found placing emphasis on getting a deep WR corps (especially those slot guys who catch like 10 passes a game) is a very good strategy these days (I placed 1st in one of my leagues and 2nd in the other last year, not bragging just saying I do know a little about what I'm talking about!)

LOL, way to take 3 years of intense study to catch up to 2013!
