I'm looking for any alternatives other than the traditional arrival and departure areas for dropping off / picking up at Newark Airport. Both my kids live out of state and I'm finding traffic getting to and from the terminals to be getting worse and worse.
I've heard something abt using the short term lots that each terminal has but wouldn't I have to pay (but I think its only $4)? Is there an option of them taking the airtrain somewhere (again, i assume I'd have to pay to get into the P1, P2, P3 or P4 lots)? I've thought abt having them take the airtrain to the airtrain train station but I don't think there is any way to get there by car.
Newark airport is getting worse and worse and worse lately. I'd hate to be from out of town and have to try to navigate it.
I thought the days of the "airport pickup" or dropoff were over.
cheaper than a cab, usually cleaner cars, it's the greener option (if you care about that), reduces traffic, and inconveniences less people (most importantly not you).

Ironically Uber is a major factor in airport congestion to begin with, it's especially bad at JFK

just tell them to take an uber.

Not at LaGuardia (a major cause of traffic). I fly regularly into LaGuardia and there is almost any time of day a 200 person line waiting for cabs.
I hop into an Uber before 25% of that line has moved. They have a specific spot to pick up ubers. it works. IMO.

Both my kids are in their 20's and they've used airtrain / NJ Transit to / from the airport in the past. But my kids have always been 'car talkers', we spent a lot of time driving to and from various sporting events they were in when younger. And it seems will still have our best conversations while in the car.
Depending on day of the week time of day either terminal A or C will be crazy. Terminal B never is to busy. So if its busy have them take the monorail to terminal B level 3 and get them there. Otherwise as stated above departures is the place to pick up.
It is MUCH easier than any of the other options.

The rideshare lot is a good place to wait, if you need to, especially if coming from the south. Fun place to watch airplanes if that's your thing.
