German vs. Hess
73 degrees and mostly cloudy at first pitch. No threat of precipitation.
Love the CC. But this has to be his last year...right?
It is - he's announced that he's retiring after this year.
Hopefully the big guy can go out with a ring and finish strong, but he's definitely just a 5 inning guy at this point and really can't give us much length and he's just throwing tons of cutters and mixing in sliders - he's a 2 pitch pitcher.
HoFer in my opinion. Hopefully he can go out on top.

Him getting a ring would be cool. A ring in his first year on the team (2009), and a ring in his last year on the team (2019). 10 years apart. There's something very symetrical about that.
Delusional... damned auto correct
No way DJ is sitting - he's been our most consistent hitter all year.
It'll be tough to sit Gio, but I would imagine most games will have Didi manning SS with Gleyber @ 2B and DJ at the hot corner.
Gio will mix in and get games at 3rd - maybe on days where DJ is spelling Luke @ 1B. But DJ absolutely has to play every day.
But, yes that pitch to Shaw was intentional, IMHO. He never made another pitch inside aside from one slider...
Betances will eventually be back, too.
Kahnle has really worked himself into the higher leverage spots too, though - he's been fucking awesome.
Very strong bullpen. If Green returns to form and Dellin comes back strong, it's the best bullpen in baseball. Even now, it's either NYY/HOU/TB.
One more, Chap.
14 over .500.
13 wins in the last 16 games.
LFG.
- Britton's "a little beat up" (won't say what) so stayed away from him tonight, expects him to be available tomorrow
Good thing Paxton is almost back
Boone is great with the media overall but really struggles when discussing injuries. I'd be worried about Britton at this point.
Sounds like he's going to miss his next start, at least.
Not really worried about Britton, though. He'll be back tomorrow according to Boone.
still pretty impressive considering all the great sluggers in the history of the AL!

He is something special, that's for sure.

Gotta love it. Now let's get the brooms out tomorrow and get to 15 over before heading to KC.

"good news" on Britton - available today. Was beat up after throwing in both games of the double header last week, plus throwing in 21 of 41 games. Maybe a bit of tired arm. He was a bit wild the other night.
Chapman looked a bit off last night. Good thing it was the Orioles or he'd have been in trouble. They helped him out on the 1st two outs swinging at ball 4.
...in the batter's box today.
As my coach used to say, "If you dig in now, you will be plowed."
Stay loose my friend.

He got brushed back a pitch or two before his second HR and it didn't matter.
If they throw at him today, I'd bet there's a brawl with Voit leading the charge. You know Luke hasn't been happy with the way he's been pitched to lately and then the one behind his head last night.

I still think Green hit Shaw on purpose.

Agreed. I don’t think they’re trying to hit Luke on purpose, but it seems the book on him has become to bust him hard inside off the plate to shake him up. since he’s been hammering the ball away. He’s seen several brush backs as a result.
Not a stretch to think they’ll take a shot at Torres too...downside of playing a scrub team with nothing to play for, they don’t care if one of their guys gets suspended.

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you it's not a stretch to think they'll take a shot at Gleyber. It would be complete bs if they did, since it's their pitchers who are throwing the gopher balls. I just think if they sunk to that, the Yanks wouldn't stand for it and push back big time, and not just by hitting one of their players with a pitch.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out today.
