I was born and raised in the DC/MD/VA area (though my family is from New York) and neither of my parents are football fans, so going to games as a kid wasn't really an option. I've attended a few games against the Redskins here in DC with some friends and I still get to see every game thanks to the internet and streaming, but I've never had the chance to be part of the home crowd.
I can't be the only one. Anyone else never been to a home game? Or do I need to hand in my Giants fan card? :)
I’ve been to a few preseason home games and several away regular season games. I hope to get to a home game while Eli is still the starter this year.
It was a HUGE deal for the Niner fans, with plenty of TV camera crews in the parking lots, and -- bored -- I got the idea of having everyone cheer for the "Niners at 9:00." So I left my car an looped the parking lot telling everyone to cheer. Sure enough, everyone went crazy at 9:00 p.m., and clips were on the 11:00 news. I was even interviewed by one station as the guy who'd started it, though I admitted I was just a bored Giants fan.
The game? A defensive struggle with five interceptions from Simms and Montana, and we lost 21-10. Still haven't been to the Meadowlands.
I wonder if anybody here saw them in a preseason game in Ithaca against the Falcons in 1966, which technically would have been a home game. I was there.
I've been to quite a few away games.
Btw, the Giants have never lost while I was in attendance
1981 vs Rams, December, cold and extremely windy. Very low scoring game. My buddy and I froze our asses off, seats were in heaven. Giants won though, 10-7.
2003 vs Jets. Santana Moss caught 3 TD's. We still won, in OT. Collins, Barber, Shockey, Toomer days.
Aside from a road game in Philly in '84 (which we also won), think that's it.
At Cleveland, 2016
At London against LA Rams 2016
The cool thing is ? Every game I've witnessed in person they have won. (except the preseason game in 2016)
Still want to go down to NJ for one with the old man, I tell him every year, lets wait and see if the Team is worth the trip, i'm not dropping over a grand to watch them get curb stomped.
We were ~6 hours from the stadium, 4 kids, and dirt poor. When I finished training, and moved to NJ, I had him come down to see his granddaughter and celebrate his birthday (September 1). I got us 2 tickets to the Giants/Skins game in 2008.
I tricked him by saying we had to pick up a carpet for my daughter. He was getting upset and kept saying, "we almost there?" I asked what he was so concerned about he said, "the game is coming on".
As we drove close enough to see the new stadium going up I asked him if he knew what it was and said "a stadium". I said, "that's the Giants' new stadium, but we're going to the old one". I've never seen him so happy.
Definitely something I'll cherish forever.

That's a great story HoustonGiant. I have been to so many games with my old man that I take for granted that there are Giants fans all over the country (and world for that matter) who have never gotten to experience a home game in person.
Saw them play in Atlanta in 1988. That was the game Carl Banks intercepted a pass with a minute left to win the game. Of course with my keen judgement, I decided to go to the men’s room so I would be ready for overtime, and missed about the only exciting play of the game.
I had PSLs in Charlotte, and saw the Giants down here a few times.
cjac -- I'd make him sing for his supper

hahaha
Honestly, over the past few years I haven't been that pressed to try and work it out because the Giants have been so bad. Its just sort of one of those things that pops into my head every now and then, and then life gets busy and I don't think about it for a while again. Its also difficult to find a sitter for our daughter who is special needs (not complaining, its just reality) so that can be an obstacle at times as well.
Yes!
We were in the 2nd row at the 10 yard line. I remember he looked at the ticket's face value and said, "$84.95 (or whatever it was) !!! You shouldn't have paid that much!!!"
I told him, "Don't worry, that's not what I paid." LOL, if he knew.
I will never forget the verbal abuse Jets fans were giving us ... right up until ...

Moved to L.A. in '92 and saw the Rams beat the Giants in Anaheim in the early-mid 90s. Giants fandom has been a TV experience for almost all of my life, and most if it in regions where the Giants are not on every week. They were on pretty often here when the Rams and Raiders left and before the Rams and Chargers landed here. Now that there are two teams here again, I'd have to think about Sunday Ticket if they ever make it available via streaming.
too poor in college when I lived in Richmond VA.
Now, I'm in central maryland but I'm rather indifferent to it because I'm 100% convinced I'll enjoy games more in a local bar with other fans then going to a game with hours of commute, poor food/drink options, and an inferior view of the game.
Not to mention, the older I get, the more I hate people.
The first time I heard "down in front" for cheering, I'd be checked out.
It was one of my very favorite days ever.

I'm older and lost the NYG vs Dal game (my preference for various reasons) (as well as Pat vs Ravens) by 1 vote (see my other thread if you want)... but if you got a crew/fam/etc road tripping to games are worth it ... memories and good times ... moments in life ...
