Word came out yesterday that Durant is strongly considering the Clippers and that the Nets are an option as well.
-Not sure why this is even news but Begley says if the Knicks somehow signed Durant and Irving they would have to include #3 overall or Robinson in any Davis deal due to projected cap number. Not clear why this is even worth mentioning. The Knicks wouldn't have a package to trade for Davis without including at least one (if not both) anyway?
- As expected, the Grizzlies apparently are all over Morant at #2 so barring a shocker it's Zion, Morant and then Barrett to NYK
I can't imagine living anywhere else, personally. Sounds boring as fuck.

He's insecure. New York is firmly a Knicks town. Always has been; always will be. The Nets get no pub.
What do Knicks fans think is going to happen if they continue to suck and the Nets actually end up being good for a while? You'll keep fans? Its not the way sports work. People are front runners. Especially kids. They like winners. If both teams are good? The Nets will gain fans but will not come close to the Knicks. But team success starts at the top - ownership. James Dolan preferred playing a small room with his crappy brand than watching the draft. Joe Tsai is a billionaire from China who is promising to get any star from Brooklyn into the Chinese market in a big way. Who would you prefer playing for?
I don't hate the Knicks btw. They are still more popular than the Nets, totally indisputable. I would prefer if both teams were good, it would be fun rivalry. But i'd be careful thinking the pecking order will never change considering how bad the Knicks have been and how the Nets have excellent organizational structure now. I do like Fizdale and Perry though. Fizdale was a solid hire, he is beloved by players in the league. Perry has a good rep too.The NBA is better when the Knicks are good.
just one last point - i can't help but wonder if both NY teams should focus on continuing their rebuild. Right now it seems like a slam dunk to try and acquire these elite FA's and rightfully so because basketball is a sport where you really need at least 2 elite guys to win. But if one of these teams somehow signs 2 of these guys, you're handing them the keys. KD had to stfu when going to GS because they were winners already, he wasn't. If KD and Kyrie sign with the Knicks, i feel like they are going to want crazy power. If they somehow end up in Brooklyn, you risk destroying the culture you just spent multiple years building. Stars are so volatile nowadays.
The Nets have been good before while the Knicks stunk. They made multiple finals appearances, not first round exits. Did anything change? If it does change, it'll be temporary and it'll be because the Nets were to land Durant and another star while the Knicks trot out Barrett and Mitch as their two most exciting pieces. When that reign ends, it'll go back to the way its always been.
Never forget.

Not Durant comes. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a Durant + friend signing this summer, but the little bit of lottery luck has removed some of the urgency. I think RJ Barrett is going to be a legit star, coming into this last season he was the guy I was really hoping for, Zion’s play changed that obviously, but Barrett would be a hell of a consolation prize.
I just want the Knicks to be relevant and worth watching again. If they land the free agents then that happens this year, but if they build around Barrett, Robinson, Knox, etc then there is at least hope of a good team in the future.
Barrett alone along with our current cast is not moving the needle nearly enough to be a title contender. We are going to need a couple stars. Its why we cleared the money. The Knicks are well aware of this.
KD is the big peice. The 2nd guy can be Butler, Kemba or Kyrie. THAT along with Barrett moves the needle to contend woth Toronto or Milwaukee for a championship. Now to beat some of the other teams AD may the the trade we'd need to make.
Obviously Barrett alone isn't enough, but he's a damn good start. Look at how competitive Utah is with a Mitchell/Gobert combo, Barrett/Robinson could be our version of that. Not saying Robinson will be as good as Gobert, but I do think Barrett could be better than Mitchell. I would be thrilled with that young nucleus while being in a market that, if they don't land anyone this year, eventually will attract other stars, which Utah doesn't have the added benefit of.

You need to broader your horizons. I lived in Chicago, NYC area till about 23, Seattle, San Diego, and now St.Pete Beach in Tampa Bay. To be fair these are all pretty fun cities and their a plenty of lame ass cities that really wouldn't be for me. You need to realize everyone has different ideas what makes something great.
I'm trying to make it work in the last one because as a fit early 30's single guy who likes to party, it really offers me the most. It is perpetual vacation here and there are a billion things to do as its a massive vacation destination.
TB probably has the best weather in Florida because it doesn't get the ridiculous heat you get elsewhere.
Now yeah if I was looking for art and culture and shit this really isn't the spot for that. But we are talking young professional athletes here.
I've always thought it was a major blunder of the Nets not calling themselves the New York Nets. Everything else, including playing in Brooklyn could remain the same. But by calling themselves the Brooklyn Nets, imo, it limited their potential fanbase, marketing, etc.

New arena, 60 million dollar state of the art practice facility, owner-gm-coach relationship is great, they now play in Brooklyn, good young talent...
the New Jersey Nets were actually my favorite sports franchise growing up, and i still loved Continental Airlines Arena even if it was a dump. We'll see. Will older fans switch teams? No. I've seen enough Curry jerseys, Lebron fans, Steelers groupies and Cowboy lovers in north jersey to know what matters most is winning and doing it consistently. People are front runners.
The Nets would have to be good for a while though. A short window with 2 stars definitely wouldn't do it.

Broaden my horizons? I went to college in the midwest. I spent a semester in Europe. I've been to both US coasts and a couple dozen countries.
My horizons are pretty broad. Haven't found a place that compares to NY.
Demanded a trade in 7 days else he’d go back to Europe
KP - ( New Window )
Also, if you have the money these guys have, NYC is spectacular. Tough city if you’re middle class but at the high end, with jet access to warm weather places, not much better.
Last, the Nets are so far from the Knicks in terms of popularity; it’s a joke

Houston said the Knicks believe they have done all necessary to attract KD but ultimately, Durant will decide and that decision is not made yet.
Houston said all this talk about meetings and a deal lined up are BS.
I think Durant’s a Knicks unless he changes course and stays in GS. But that feels more and more unlikely, especially with them winning the way they are without him. And I also think a part of the warriors actually want him to leave.

Guy is an overrated injury prone clown
This move is also about off the court stuff, lets be honest if it was vest chance to win he would stay in golden state...
going to clippers really makes little sense if you think about it
Exactly they can not under any circumstances portray it as a 'done' deal in any manner. For him to even say 75% is pretty telling.
The other guys Kawhi and Klay I dont think have any interest in coming here. But I could see us as a top destination for the other guys.
Which leak specifically you referring to?

Ah the Kleinman stuff. Gotcha. Yes timing is interesting.
I always said that if he leaves GSW then i thought the knicks would be where he went. I just wasnt sure he was going to leave GSW, but now im thinkin that is very likely.
Are these cores that much better than the knicks?
Nets: Levert, allen, kurucs, dinwiddie?
Clippers: Sga, lou will, harrell
I dont get how those cores are ao much better?

the knicks showed zero system- with their current team. they didnt run offense, which made chuckers look statistically ok--- and they had the worst record in the league.
so yes 2 playoff teams that have systems, where players have performed in relevant NBA games....the media will talk about them more favorably.
the nets with Levert (playoff team starter) Allen (playoff team starter) Dinwiddie (top tier 6th man on playoff team) Joe Harris (playoff starter- though shouldnt be on a very good team)--- is viewed more favorably. that is why during the season i always found it odd for the knicks to not even try and run a system while tanking.
does it mean the nets or clippers are amazing? no... but it shows they know how to play basketball
Harris would be gone because he needs to leave for the nets fit 2...
The system those teams played mean absolutrly nothing, because next year the system will be completely different..
bringing up last years system means nothing if ypu are trying to sign 2 max players...
Now if you are talking just adding 1 guy sure the system you played comes into play but when ypu have to gut your team the system means nothing
im just saying Knicks fans shouldnt be surprised its perceived the situation is worse as a starting point. the knicks ran no system and lost most all of their games.
the nets run a system that allows more marginal talent to play very well if they fit the system--- its viewed well and resulted in improvement and performance.

you think he is going to run the same system with durant and kyrie?
even dantoni doesnt run his system with harden...
Durant and kyrie are not going to try to fit into his system, they are going to play the way they have always played

this year and last year. its atkinsons system... with a bit of mike D.... Coach bud... its an actual system.

he would adapt the system- like good coaches do.
spread the floor, shoot 3s, kyrie with the ball in the dlo role- very very similar to what he does---- with more sets for KD
i dont expect these guys to end up both being nets--- but it would be a great problem to have adapting that system.
the the rockets not shoot 3s and play fast paced? mike D just adapted some.
But if they gut the team to fit 2 guys they will not play the same way, they are not going to be the same team that is my point...

they shoot a ton of 3s but they do not play 7 seconds or less, they play 1-4 iso ball
My point was adding 2 guys is not going to how they are currently constructdd that was my point

In all fairness- yes those players are much better than what the Knicks have to offer.Clippers would have Shamet too.
I really hope the Knicks players make a huge leap, but a lot of them haven't even proven they aren't bad, let alone good contributing NBA players. The Knicks young players do have potential, but they have an awful lot to prove before being compared to the above players. Lou Will, Harrell and Dinwiddie are legit NBA players...Lou Will was a fringe all star this year.
If Durant comes to the Knicks ( and I think he does), it's not going to have anything to do with the Knicks current roster.

i agree knicks is all potential i never said they were better, i just said i dont think it is so over the top better that peoplr make it out to be...
and remember i said before the kp trade no chance durant comes to the knicks, never thought durant was coming before the kp trade
Smith would be an inferior version of Kyrie, Knox would be far inferior version of Durant, and Trier probably ends up being an inferior version of Barrett. Not sure you want all six of them in your rotation. At least Dotson and even Frank bring some different things to the table, and of course Mitch. If not Anthony Davis, a smaller scale trade or two should be explored to balance out the roster a bit.
The Pels can send him somewhere else for next year but it's entirely in AD's control after that.

If you get Kyrie you will need a decent backup with the games he misses and DSG can be that
I think if we dont make the AD trade the knicks move on to Beal. And unfortunatly i think if they dont get Beal them move onto the next guy and so on. If they get KI/KD they are going to add another player, i just hope the player is a stud like AD/Beal and not like Aaron Gordon or Kevin Love.
