NFT: Xfinity Mobile (Verizon platform)...any experience with it?

FranknWeezer : 5/22/2019 12:27 pm
We have cable internet through XFinity/Comcast. Found out the other day that qualifies us for mobile service through Xfinity Mobile, which utilizes the Verizon network. Prices look really good, too. $45/mo for unlimited data, or pay by the gig if you prefer. No contract. Bunch of hotspots all over. BYOP (bring your own phone) for no fee. $100 prepaid Visa gift card for a new account. And if you want a new phone, they'll buy your old one.

Other than having to deal with Comcast (which I already am, and it's no pleasure cruise), what am I missing here? Seems like it's way better than most other offers out there. Anyone have experience with this mobile program? Thanks.

that is optimistic overall towards Xfinity Mobile but also has some drawbacks. Hope it helps.

Thank you!
I made the switch about six months ago

after having Verizon for many years.

I go by the gig because I don't use much mobile data.

Smooth sailing. Haven't had any issues that have required me to call tech support or billing.

And, even though I kept the same number and am still on Verizon network, my spam phone calls went way down.

As for BYOP, as the linked article mentions, you can bring I-phone but you have to buy Android. But I got a Samsung on a cheap deal that was more than covered by the $150 Visa rebate.

Thanks for posting. Is it true that if you think you're going to exceeed your data (on a 'by the gig' plan), you can just log into your account and increase it to give yourself a buffer for that given month?

I believe you can log in and switch from by-the-gig to Unlimited in a given month if you can see that it's going to work better for you.

I haven't done it, so couldn't tell you how seamlessly it works if you try to switch back and forth.
I had ATT

for many years and made the switch last summer. Its been smooth sailing since then. I notice I get reception in areas where I didn't get it before.

Their voicemail has a nice transcription service which transcribes the vm without you having to hear it. It gets about 90% of the message right. The app can be a little quirky for the voicemail but its fine.

Thanks Zepp. Good to hear.
Xfinity has no decent overseas roaming program

Thats a showstopper for me. With Verizon its an extra $10 a day, the your normal plan applies for minutes and data.
