I'm guessing that I missed something pretty obvious, but it won't stop bugging me.
So Thanos snaps away half the human race at the end of IW. Five years later, the remaining Avengers figure a way to snap everyone back. So, when the smoke clears at the end of it all, is everyone who came back five years younger than everyone who didn't get dusted in the first place?
Right, this was sorta gonna be my follow up. MJ and Ned are still high school age teens in Far From Home. I guess it's as simple as assuming they also got dusted at the end of IW.
I guess I have a harder time wrapping my mind around the idea of a world where, one day, half the people disappear, and then, five years later, they all come back, not having aged. Is Cap too old to run a support group helping people adjust to this sort of thing?
Opens the door for a lot of questions. Basically, introducing a half-baked time-travel arc will do that.
The time travel stuff is a bit confusing.

will answer some questions. Apparently Aunt May survived the snap so she is 5 years older than she was in Homecoming.

They confirmed that Spiderman's best friend was also dusted as are several of the main characters from Homecoming. There will likely be a couple of characters that survived the snap and have moved on but the main ones that we saw in the trailer were also dusted. It will be interesting moving forward showing the ramifications of the snap and reversing of the snap. They will not just move on and act like nothing happened luckily because that would be an awful decision.
I just hope that they don't carry on the Sakovia accords story line anymore. These people just brought back over half the planets population so they should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want lol.
The time travel stuff is a bit confusing.
The directors said he returned from another dimension solely to give Sam the Shield.

I'm assuming he was living on the same timeline as his younger self.
Years ago, I think I remember reading that "Timecop" - the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie - handled time travel better than any other movie ever had. I wonder if that still holds true.

Yes but his younger self was still trapped in ice in the other dimension.
Its irrelevant. Marisa Tomei doesn't age any way :-)

How'd he show up back on the bench waiting on them with the shield? Had he been living in the world with them the entire time knowing what would happen?? Or did he come from a different timeline?

That movie is awesome. Underrated and it's got Sloan in it.

Correct, neither do Kate Beckinsale, and Diane Lane.

So essentially old cap was there the entire time while they were fighting Thanos both times?

That was my theory, yes. Granted, I only saw Endgame once, and I try not to think too hard about time-travel/alternate dimension plot elements.
Also, they killed present day Thanos at the beginning of the movie, then they had to kill past-Thanos when he came into the present. Whats to stop an even earlier version of Thanos coming into the future ?

No, he just came back basically to drop off hte shield and say goodbye. Then he somehow went back I believe. How did he do it? I have no idea.

Thanos wasn't aware of time travel and doesn't know how it works obviously so a Thanos from another dimension can't just come into this one.
No, anyone who is still in HS with Peter was dusted while everyone who survived the snap will have moved on. Ned was dusted.
My assumption is that Ned and MJ were both dusted, which explains why they're still in high school in Far From Home. That by itself isn't a huge stretch, but how many people other than Ned and MJ are in Peter's inner circle?

The directors confirmed that Ned was dusted. They also said that anyone we see in HS in Far From Home will have been dusted as well.

I imagine there will be sequels ( prequels ? ) that explain how Cap put back the infinity stones.

he would need the Pym particles to do that, remember? 2014 nebula took the particles from present day nebula

Cap was living in an alternate timeline with Peggy. He still had the device with him. He lived his life with her and when he felt the time was right, returned to drop off the shield to Sam. He could have returned at any point to do it, but he waited until he was ready, and he always new what time he had to go back.

Yes but they had present day Nebula's wrist device which enabled them to go into the present day. That occurred in only one this timeline so once Thanos was killed in this timeline and his entire army dusted there was no way for another Thanos in another dimension to travel through the dimensions.
So yes Peter Parkers "inner circle" like Aunt May, MJ, Ned, Flash and Betty were dusted.
Yes, the dusted would be returning to odd circumstances like a widow who remarried and whose spouse returned or an older sibling who is now an younger sibling who is now the younger one or has a new sibling, etc
The Directors have said that Cap has created a branch universe where he lived with Peggy and he returned from some point in the future into the 616 universe. They have said it will eventually be revealed how he did so.
My speculation is not another Cap story but perhaps some character who later will also jump universes and we can assume that's how Cap did it.
The Russos have said there could be a story in Caps new universe so we can speculate as to what that might be. Maybe he creates Shield with Peggy, saves Bucky before he becomes the Winter Soldier and becomes his partner in the like the comics and they take out Hydra together etc i doubt any of this will ever see a film etc Perhaps as tie in comics or the animated series on Disney Plus.
Old Cap is not from a different timeline, he created it when he went back and didnt return. His past is still what we saw in the movies up until he departed it in Endgame.
My thought on Winter Soldier knowing is that he understands. He too is a man out of time and lost his past and he knows Steve from childhood so he understood Steve was going to stay. If he had been chosen to return to the past he probably would not have returned either.
As far as Spiderman goes the time jump helps set up a way to bring in other characters like Gwenn Stacey, harry osborn and Miles Morales who were to young to be part of Peters group before.

One point- I don't think Aunt May got dusted. I suspect that we have seen a hint of this already in the preview were Happy and Aunt May share a moment- and Peter Parker suddenly realizes something is going on between them. Hard to set that up if she was dusted.

knew Cap was on the bench and told Sam to go ahead and talk to him. It was never really shown how Bucky really knew that though. Also wondering how old Cap even knew Sam if he was from a different timeline but as mentioned they'll go back and try to explain all of this.

That makes more sense. It's basically all in the pivot when Prof Hulk explains the time travel to Ant Man in that one scene but then I over think it.
Before Cap went into the quantum realm to return the stones he spoke to Bucky briefly and Bucky said that he will miss him. It wasn't a joke it was genuine which proves that Cap told Bucky about his plans but not Falcon.

She was dusted. The Far from Home director confirmed.
According to a recent Fandango interview with Far From Home director Jon Watts, we have some clarity about the fate of Aunt May prior to the upcoming Spidey film. Here’s what he said: "She disappeared and came back."

Now that Tony is gone Happy is looking out for Peter because of how close he was to Tony. After spending time with Aunt May they must have developed a relationship over the past few weeks. I don't think Peter goes on a trip to Europe a few days after returning to school. It must be months later when this happens as it makes no sense to have this trip shortly after the dusted students return.

I think the mystery is how did Captain America return to the 616 universe from the different universe that he created. That we dont know.
Perhaps its from the "holes" from the Snap that allows the Elementals and Mysterio as described by Fury in Far From Home.

I think Mysterio is going to turn out to be a fraud as in the comic books. I do have a feeling that the Snaps will be the explanation for the creation of the X-Men and or the introduction of other villains like Galactus and Dr. Doom.
In Thor: Ragnarok, Odin states that Mjolnir was a tool to help Thor control the lightning, it was never the source of his strength. And Thor is the God of Thunder and is able to control Thunder without Mjolnir as it had been destroyed by Hela earlier in the film.
I'm confused as to what exactly controls the lightning.

In the first Thor film, when he took away Thor's powers, said "whoever holds Mjolnir, should they be worthy, shall possess the powers of Thor"
So when in End game, Cap was worthy, he was able to channel Thor's powers when wheilding Mjolnir.

Whether or not Mysterio is a fraud, the Multiverse is coming. Plus it is Fury that explains the holes from the Snap.
They explained in Endgame that Thanos snap emitted more Gamma than anything ever and by the end of the film there would be 4 snaps (Thanos in IW, Thanos destroying Stones, Hulk & Iron Man) within about a month. Although Thanos second snap is off Earth. You know some ramifications will be felt for that.
So when in End game, Cap was worthy, he was able to channel Thor's powers when wheilding Mjolnir.
Yes, he was worthy, we get that. My question is, what harnesses and controls the lightning?
We've seen lightning used as a weapon both with and without Mjolnir.
In the first Thor film, Thor was stripped of his powers and Mjolnir was repossessed by Odin. He no longer had use of the lightning. I can only imagine the powers are somehow stored with in Mjolnir.
In Ragnarok, when Thor didn't possess Mjolnir (since it was destroyed), he was still able to harness the power of Thor and control lightning.
It seems like an inconsistent use of lightning.
Thor was born with the power to channel lightning, as the God of Thunder. When Odin stripped him of that power in the first movie, Odin infused\cursed that power within Mjolnir. Odin was testing Thor and if he changed his "childish behavior" from the first film and showed he was worthy, Mjolnir would restore his powers.
When Hela destroyed Mjolnir, Thor lost that avenue to channel the lightning through his hammer. Although when Odin died, parts of Odin's powers went back to Thor. That's where that line in Ragnarok came "Are you the god of hammers or are you the god of thunder?" Odin wanted Thor to refocus his powers internally, since he relied to much on Mjolnir over the years. Thus Thor got a power boost at the end of Ragnarok.
In Endgame, when Cap was worthy of lifted Mjolnir, Odin infused\curse, was still on it since it came from the timeline of the second Thor film. Thus Cap was able to wield thunder with Mjolnir.
At least that was my take on it.
