On the heels of the Broxton trade the Mets also announce:
Anthony DiComo

Mets are changing their tune on basically everything.
-Dom Smith will receive OF reps
-J.D. Davis is also an outfielder
-Edwin Diaz will be used for multi-inning saves

The team was on the record against all this in April.

Can 2B
Alonso 1B
Frazier 3B
Gmez - RF
Lagares - CF
Nido - C
deGrom RHP

But I guess we know we cant count on what MC says as much
McNeil *might* still be dealing w/ the ab issue, he's fallen off a little since then. But yeah otherwise wtf
expects to be back tomorrow.
Out here in sunny CA, I listen to Bochy and he talks for 20 minutes and says nothing. "Well, we have to see." "We have options. Options are good." "A lot of hungry guys on this team." "We have competitive guys." "We have guys who want to play."
Media never gets anything from Bochy. In contrast, Mickey self-generates a lot of the "controversy" that surrounds the team. I feel for him at times because he is so in over his head.
Theyd have to spend it for it have any meaning whatsoever.

For $500,000 in international pool money. That's not bad.

AND while it's commendable to get INTL pool money for Broxton, it's not that commendable when they traded 3 players for Broxton less than two months ago.
Good they got something for him
Bad they gave up something for him 2 short months ago
And as Shecky highlights, meaningless if they don't use it.

We have placed Brandon Nimmo (stiff neck) on the 10-day IL retroactive to May 21, purchased the contract of Rajai Davis and designated Paul Sewald for assignment. #Mets
There were some complaints about Rajai Davis and how awful he is when he was signed this offseason. I think a few of us replied "well, he's just AAA depth, if he ever sees the MLB roster, something went really wrong somewhere."
Well... here we are LOL.
We put every infielder out there already
DeGrom should pull a Thor. Throw a shutout and hit one out.
he's banged up.
LMAOOOOOO
Thanks for that laugh!
Sure seems that way!
Ripping it up for the Rumble Ponies the last two nights
Looked like he thought Rosario was running an out instead of a post.
Tho him sitting for a few isn't a terrible thing esp if McNeil is good to go tomorrow
I really can't stand this guy.

Yes, hopefully Cano goes on the IL so we can see McNeil at 2B every day. Get Conforto back and maybe for one game, if Nimmo gets back, we can actually see the Mets best lineup.
Lowrie
Cano
Cespedes
Conforto
McNeil
What else is new?? ... Not that everyone was hitting anyway.

Ru is ready
now pitches that were strikes are balls
Next three innings: 72 pitches
Gagnon and Bashlor. Gsellman has also been incredible.

Rob Gsellman has found himself over the last month. Since April 27, hes thrown 12 innings, allowing just 5 hits. He has walked 5 but he has 12 K. With Lugo out, hes their best reliever at this point if you ask me. He has earned a look for the 8th inning. #Mets
Holding on and winning tomorrow for a 4 game sweep would be even more fun.
Let him work out his shit with a 5 run lead.

The Mets' six-run eighth-inning rally was spurred by Adeiny Hechavarria (double), Todd Frazier (walk), Carlos Gomez (HBP), Juan Lagares (double) and Rajai Davis (HR). Didn't see it coming like that.
9:59 PM - 22 May 2019
Hechavaria, Gomez, and Davis are the types of guys you should always aim to have in AAA. Pros who can play defense and have been around long enough that in limited action they can be effective. Like Kelly Johnson and Uribe in 2015.
Broxton wasn't working and he was complaining - took some balls to cut bait that quickly and as a result Davis/Gomez have both made some things happen and seem to be happy just to be here. Never underestimate the value of showing there's accountability for results.
The BP is rounding into form but would still like to see BVW embrace the mantra that "you can never have enough pitching". After the draft pick compensation goes away it would be great if they could put the (hopefully) increased Cespedes savings into Kimbrel or Keuchel.
Im also not buying his -9 DRS at 3B. UZR severely disagrees with it coming in at a much more acceptable -2.5. Eventually these numbers should converge and stabilize over a bigger sample and we'll have abetter idea but right now the gap is a mile wide.
Also, I still dont think Davis has officially become a everyday player so that's another reason to keep McNeil in LF. If Davis is going to split games with Lowrie and Frazier... both of those guys will only play 3B so it makes sense to keep everyone at 3B. McNeil is 100% an everyday player so you might as well play him everyday in the OF in the position that opens.
That said, of course things will change up from time to time.
Here are his top SP:
10. Nick Lodolo, LHP, TCU -- Lodolo is the top lefty in the draft and will probably be the first pitcher drafted this year, as he's been up to the mid-90s with a huge slider that misses left- and right-handed hitters' bats, with better results across the board this year, including a big cut in his walk rate. He comes from a slightly lower slot than most starters and the slider is often out of the zone, reminiscent of Andrew Miller in college, so there are some very modest concerns about him staying a starter in the long run, but he has at least mid-rotation upside.
11. Matthew Allan, RHP, Seminole HS (Sanford, Florida) -- Allan is the top prep pitcher in the class thanks to a curveball that is plus right now along with a solid-average fastball that's regularly 92-95 mph but that plays a little below that due to lack of life.
14. JJ Goss, RHP, Cypress Ranch HS (Houston) -- Goss probably will be chosen in the 20s, but on merit belongs a bit higher, as the 6-foot-3 right-hander is 91-95 with an above-average slider, improved feel for a changeup and an aggressive approach.
15. Jackson Rutledge, RHP, San Jacinto (Texas) JC -- Rutledge was at the University of Arkansas last spring but transferred to two-year San Jacinto, putting him into this year's draft class, a smart move as he's been regularly up to 98 with an upper-80s cutter, and getting some deception from a short arm stroke despite a 6-foot-8 frame.
I'd be lying if I said I'd ever heard of anyone in the draft before this article so curious if DMM or Mike have any preferences at this stage.

8 bombs already.
8 bombs already.
But does he hustle to first?
Here are his top SP:

9. Alek Manoah, RHP, West Virginia -- Manoah has turned everything up a notch in the last two months of his season. I couldn't have seen him any better, as he was still hitting 95 mph in the ninth inning in a 125-pitch shutout of Texas Tech (and yes, the Mountaineers have consistently pushed Manoah a batter or two farther than they should), showing a four-pitch mix with both changeup and slider working as swing-and-miss offerings. He's physically ready at 6 foot 6, 260 pounds, and other than his habit of pitching exclusively from the stretch, there isn't a concern about his delivery. I think he's the best bet in a terribly weak college pitching crop to become a league-average starter.

Goss and Rutledge intrigue me. Goss has a more solid college commitment of the two, but I think the prospect (no pun intended) of being a Top 12 pick versus going who knows where as teams in the 20's tend to reach for a more signable player if they lack comp picks because of budget issues might entice him to sign for slot or maybe slightly below. Having the 4.99% overage to split among future picks is useful.
I just hope they don't trade him within 6 months for a 36 year old 20M+ per year PED user with a ton of money left on his contract. or a closer.
