My wife is making me me 7, 6 and 3 year old go on Sunday. Her family goes every year I can't get out of it this year ( I have tried). We will be driving our minivan and I will need to swallow many beers to deal with crowds etc... My wife is driving I need advice on the best way to go (getting vip tickets a hotel nearby anything) money isn't really a factor but I hate crowds and noise.
Please help any advice is helpful and unless I drop dead we have to go.
It was the please that got me?
Thx in advance
Who is flying is important. NOBODY, definitely NOBODY tops the U.S. Navy & Marine Corps Blue Angels. They have the finest, most entertaining show in the air. It features some really close quarter flying that most non-pilots really don't appreciate, plus their C-130 Fat Albert puts on an amazing high-angle rocket-assisted take off.
The Snow Birds (Canadian Forces) are very entertaining, too. The U.S. Army's Black Knights parachute team is worth paying attention to. The Red Barons are another really good flight demo team. And some of the individual stunt fliers do some truly amazing things in the air with their planes.
Use good sun screen, wear sunglasses and a brimmed cap, take some shade if you can, plenty of water if you can bring it in, and wear comfortable shoes for walking around. Portable chairs are a good idea if they let you have them.
Find a good place to sit to view the action in the air, and relax and enjoy it.
Really? I bet they were bigger back in the day but doubt they are gone. Planes and what not doing flybys, some higher end maneuvering, helicopters etc. Back when I was a kid I think the big ones were the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds, but also I remember seeing a harrier take off / landing. The link below has a more typical air show event w/ the jets in formation w/ color trails at the start
What I DO want to see today tho is the Red Bull air race - looks like fun at least for one go. You can fast forward to 3:45 for that

I would like some feedback from people that go esp with kids. There could be upwards of 200K people there this weekend.
Where to park, stay, paying for VIP shit etc...
Thx again

No Blue Angels this year. It is the Thunderbirds.

I want to go to the air show in Oshkosh Wisconsin in July. It's the biggest in the USA (world?), but rooms are booked years in advance. That's a deal breaker for me.
I was in NYC last week visiting family and we had a great time on the US Intrepid aircraft carrier/museum. The thing that I appreciated the most was walking around on this huge deck, in the open air in NYC, without a car in sight. It was quiet! We got tickets on the Internet and went to the front of the line at the Intrepid.
Possible solution: Find an alternative air show to go to, where travel and hotel accommodations are easier to handle. Almost anything has to be easier than Nassau County.
Just a thought, this way you can avoid the chaos and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
You had asked about VIP tickets, below is a link
