I hadn't been to the movies in years before we decided to take our boys to see the Grinch last winter.
Holy shit has the movie theater changes. There was a full bar, restaurant and basically anything you wanted to eat. I couldn't believe it.
We did go the traditional route, sneak in Candy and buy a huge tub of popcorn and a large drink. Much like stadium prices, I shook my head when they said $25 for the popcorn and drink.
Much rather wait for a good movie to come up on on Blu-Ray and have a movie night at home. Ends up being much cheaper!
Popcorn isn't that bad. But adults eating candy? Jesus no wonder the obesity epidemic is so bad.
Holy overreaction lol. A bit of candy every now and then isn't hurting anyone. Its all the fast food, over-sized portions of everything, and the increases in depression thats likely had a MUCH bigger impact on obesity than a candy bar at the movies.
And raisinetes..... I have to have those two every time because I’m weird like that. If I’m a bit hungry I’ll either do a pretzel with cheese or nachos.
I have a self-imposed limitation that I don't start digging in to it before the feature film starts (weird? perverse? it is what it is). But my wife has no such compunction so she's skimming the oily, greasy, good stuff off the top before I even get started.....:(
and some diet pepsi

I don't understand candy bars. Sugar mixed with fats so you get an insulin Spike and dump fat directly into storage for what 30 seconds of pleasure. People are fat because they spend all day eating including something as simple as going to the movies.

Whats to understand? Its a sweet treat. That's all. There is nothing wrong with an occasional candy bar at the movies.
I eat mostly organic, exercise regularly and track my calories every day - but every so often I'll eat some peanut M&M's at the movies. Why? Because I like the way they taste.

I love candy. I'm 5'11" 155. Seems to me like moderation is the problem, not the food itself. Candy bars are delicious, just don't eat 5 of them.

I get one of those thick straws and place it into the middle of the popcorn bag and pour butter into it.
Far too cheap to pay movie price for eats. Usually we go at a point where I'm not hungry (don't eat much between meals anyway). Never have been sure of why there's a food and movie connection (agree with the person who was aghast that others couldn't go 2 hours without shoving something down your pie hole..hmmm.pie), although you could say the same thing about a baseball game and I always eat and drink at a baseball game.
Mostly, I surrender myself (and it's quite different from a baseball game) into the movie and the food impairs me from the immersion, sort of bringing me back into the real world and that hurts enjoyability. Finally, I know it's just me (and it might be because of the immersion thing) but I personally find it distracting (and almost rude) to hear crunching, chewing, smacking sounds during the film. Not as bad as the texting or the apple watches lighting up or the talking to the screen or the too loud laughing or......
due to how awful most movies are these days. But when I used to go, if I was really hungry, I used to enjoy those nugget-shaped pretzels with the cheese dip and a coke. Loved those things. Wonder if they still have them.
So we started going off and on after 30 years of waiting for cable. I give in and get the popcorn every other visit. I can't resist the smell of that crap and it's worse than having a couple of big Macs. Something about that smell man.
raisinets are the next best option but popcorn remains the titties.

Sometimes I get a smaller one and a box of junior mints.

It must be all the candy they're eating.
Normally hate that kind of movie atmosphere though.
Or chicken wings.

We need to return to those days.

When Kramer did it, he ended up smelling like Kenny Rogers.

Must be a Mike thing. Also Sour Patch kids. TF is the matter with you people. Popcorn and sour patch kids.
Bringing back shame to this country would be a progressive move.
Amen.
What do I eat when I go to the movies? Dinner beforehand.
Of all the junk food mentioned ... this one I can get behind
I used to bite the tips off twizzlers and use as a straw ... and Dr Pepper is amazing
