85 years old. One of the true legends of the game.
RIP to a great player.

He didn’t have the talent of some of his peers, but he was smart and his toughness was under appreciated.

Pretty much the same here, Bill, including those grainy shots of Lombardi and Starr and Kramer in the giddy flush of victory.

Being Vince Lombardi's QB for years, not to be underestimated.
RIP to one of that era's greats.

How many rounds did they have back then? Today he would have been an undrafted free agent - who might never had been signed?

Winner of the first 2 SBs. Lombardi had a great team back then.

RIP legend.
Bart Starr was the leader

of some of the best teams in football history. He was very consistent on the field and very classy off the field. RIP to a good man.
I believe he's the only QB to ever beat the Giants....

I think there were only 12 teams when he was drafted so he would have been a pick in the 190s. That would have made him a 6th round pick today.

RIP legend.
Bart Starr was picked in the 190s in a 12 team league. Today, that

Would be 6th round.

Sid Luckman with the Bears in '41 & '46 is the only other one to do so.

My favorite Bart Starr line ever was when he talked about Lombardi; "When he told us to sit down, you didn't look for a chair"
Always respected him

Even after he beat the Giants in '61 and '62, and with our bottom falling out in '64, it was fun to root for him and the Packers against the hated Unitas Colts and Cowboys--to say nothing of the upstart AFL--for the rest of the decade.

RIP to the real deal--man and quarterback.
Yes, I always rooted for him and the Packers...

once the Giants were out of it (which, in the mid 60's, was always) especially against the Cowboys. Great clutch player. At the time, he was never put at the same level as Unitas, or even Gabriel, as throwers. He couldn't scramble like Tarkenton. All he ever did was win. A great quarterback of a great team. RIP.
RIP Bart

I had heard he had Alzheimer's, saw a report awhile back on him. So I am not really surprised by the sad news.
Even though he beat the Giants a couple times in the playoffs in the early 60's when I was a 'youngin,
always had great respect for the man.
More importantly, so did Vince Lombardi!
