So how do we feel about BJ Goodson?

In his 3rd year Goodson played in 15 games and started 13. He finished the season with 44 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 qb hits and 1/2 sack. He also recorded 2 int's.

I know quite a few here were high on him last year before the season started. So are you still high on him for next season? Were you underwhelmed with him last year? Does he beat out the competition in camp and start the season?

I thought he was rather quiet last year and didn't make enough impact plays. I know stats don't tell the entire story but it's going to be interesting to see if someone leapfrog's him on the depth chart.

So DG and company must see something in him.

Agreed. Also, he only had 1/2 of sack. Makes me wonder if thats due to scheme or just his lack of ability to get to the passer?

He is not somebody I would spend a lot of money to keep unless he takes a big step forward this season and actually stays healthy. One of my camp battles I am most looking forward to is Goodson vs. Connelly. I knew little about Connelly on draft day but the more I read about him and watch the more intrigued I become. This defense desperately needs an answer at ILB and hopefully they finally hit on a day 3 LB.

Would not surprise me to see Giants extend him before the seaason's done on a minor deal

To me Supar is a JAG. Goodson is a little bit better than that.

I think he's a solid MLB, 2 down type guy

If you need a LB to cover sub him out and put in a different guy. He's definitely a guy who can contribute.

Many of us on BBI were excited about, thought was a good value pick and would be our middle LB for years. So far he has been:
1. Injured too often
2. Underwhelming when healthy
3. To often has been out of position to make a plays
4. Is a liability in coverage

IMO, he has not lived up to expectations

Has Goodson done anything to warrant a second contract?

He is another in the long line of JAGS that have come through here. He has done very little, stinks in pass coverage as well. Lets hope Connelly gives them something.

A thumper when he makes tackles in run game. Deficient in pass coverage and teams take advantage against him in passing plays in the middle of the field. Just a 2 down MLB. We could do so much better.
