Had a chance to attend the final day of OTAs for the #Giants, some quick observations...
Coach Shurmur is a nice dude, always lends his time. However, I was surprised he gave such a lengthy answer when asked about OBJ's comments on Baker's arm strength. Next question, move on.

Coach also mentioned that they would be taking a team trip to the Subway Series, to take in a Yankees/Mets game as a team bonding outing.

Daniel Jones was built for gym shorts/t-shirts. While Jones looks more mobile + his throws have more zip, when he gets inserted into action this season, fans are going to realize just how quickly Eli has mastered to get rid of the ball. He was sacked career-high 47 times in 2018.

At RB it appears to be Saquon Barkley/Wayne Gallman as RB1 + RB2, w/ Paul Perkins + Rod Smith competing for RB3 duties. John Hilliman of Rutgers is a PS candidate, while Elijah Penny could make the team once again as lead blocker/special teams role. Barkley = 352 touches in 2018.

WR is a veteran-led pack w/ G.Tate, S.Shepard, R.Shepard, Corey Coleman expected to make the roster. Rookie Darius Slayton will begin as WR5 but could creep up to WR3. UDFAs Reggie White (Monmouth) + Alex Wesley (N.Colorado) are strong PS candidates, looks like bye bye C.Latimer.

UDFA rookie CJ Conrad, who could be a cheaper/younger version of Rhett Ellison, will make a strong case to make the team behind Evan Engram at TE. Scott Simonson will be in the mix due to blocking, while Garrett Dickerson and Eric Dungey appear to be long shots at best.

The O-Line from left-to-right projects as Solder/Hernandez/Pulley/Zeitler/Remmers.
Centers Jon Halapio/James O'Hagan are very close to Pulley in terms of overall skillset, they may be able to stash O'Hagan on PS.
Chad Wheeler and George Asafo-Adjei are expected to make the 53.
@RicSerritella
BJ Hill, Dalvin Tomlinson and Dexter Lawrence combine for a total of 971 pounds of beef up front. Lorenzo Carter, Oshane Ximines and possibly Markus Golden are going to be relied upon to account for getting after the QB, w/ Jabril Peppers being used in occasional blitz packages.
@RicSerritella
You will find plenty of new faces at CB, led by 1st rd pick DeAndre Baker, along with rookies Julian Love and Corey Ballentine. Sam Beal enters year 2 missing all of last season, with Janoris Jenkins (maybe Grant Haley) serving only CB expected to make team with NFL experience.

Rookies Ryan Connelly + Josiah Tauaefa should bring good competition at ILB in training camp, as the Giants have upgraded their depth behind Alec Ogletree + BJ Goodson. Special teams standout Nate Stupar (338 snaps in 2018), entering his eight season, should also earn a spot.
@RicSerritella
DC James Bettcher finally has himself some safeties that fit his scheme in the aforementioned Peppers and Antoine Bethea, it should be a solid unit overall with Michael Thomas able to step in at either role. Safety Sean Chandler has been injured.
He is obviously just guessing at the lineup and who will make team.
Can someone interpret the tweet?
Can someone interpret the tweet?
I think you did a good job interpreting it. That said, rookie QBs in their second week tend to take little longer to make a read than a 15 year veteran. Guy might to check again in a month or two.
I believe management, and the coaching staff are giving Pio every opportunity to win the starting job. Perhaps Pulley starting with the ones has altered his perception of who the starters are.
Clearly Pio may not live up to the coaches expectations.
If O'Hagan is close as an UDFA either we found another diamond in the rough or our would be starters at the center position are lacking.
Maybe the Rookie is the future
And
Has so many definitive statements.....he fits right in with todays beat writers, but to me, he sounds like an idiot.
The center comment is a bit off, however.
- DJ has more zip than the much older Eli. OK. But Eli can get rid of it faster. OK. (Then what is the relevance of the # of sacks last year? - a non-sequitur IMO)
-I'm a huge Gallman fan, but I don't think the #2 back has been settled yet unless Wayne can hold on to the ball the rest of this summer.
- No disagreement on WR. Only an observation that this is a good example of where it is not necessarily the "bottom" that is discarded; the loser for #3 WR may not make the 53. (Too many promising Lieutenants to keep a long service Colonal).
- Simonson vs Ellison is 50-50. But I think Dungey is considered by the NYGs as a "wild card". Shurmur said you can't have too many "players". If he passes that multi-talented test as a "player" he will not count against either a QB or TE quota.
- If Stupar "earns a slot" it will be on special teams. However there is a lot of new special team competition this year.
Other than that, he is right on!

It really is a bunch of non-sense. The conditions last year were different than they will be this year. Just from the beginning of the season to the end of the season last year, the OL was night/day. We had Flowers, Omameh, Greco at one point. We essentially were playing a rookie guard with an injured LT. The rest were trash. By the end of the year, there were discussions regarding what it would take to resign Jamon Brown as he at least demonstrated competency at RG. Now, we have one of the best RGs in the league with Zeitler. The OL this year will be much improved. Eli or DJ should not be facing the same degree of pressure.
Fiddy, this idiot is jumping to conclusions based on one practice he watched
On what planet do you think Russel Shepard is a roster lock, specifically over Cody Latimer or Bennie Fowler?
Besides, it's fed to us through Anak... Our very own draft expert with his own "Big Board" who said in at least 3-4 separate posts how he rated Emmanuel Hall out of Missouri as a viableid round draft pick.
I warned him and others about Hall and why I wouldn't draft him at all, but Anak persisted.
Hall went undrafted.
LOL yeah this.

Weird post...

He's right on that and it's an indication he knows more than what he saw in one practice.
RS is a safe prediction to be on the roster because he and DG have a history and DG likes him.

Interesting point, and I know RS plays STs, but I'm not sure there;s a spot for him based on talent alone. And the assumption that Lattimer is gone? replaced by Slayton? Based on what? Lattimer is also a solid STs guy.
Pulley has been receiving more time with the #1s the past two days.

Russell S doesn't have to make it on talent alone is the point; he's DG's guy. Culture, ya know.
Slayton was singled out by Shurmur for positive commentary and is a draft pick; he's in.
So I'd say Serritella is right about the five apparent locks at WR and that Latimer is on bubble, at least.
He may be premature in pushing Latimer off the roster. Giants only kept five WR on the initial 53 last year but there could be room for a sixth this year, considering Latimer's ST roles.
Pulley and Pio have rotated with the 1s all mini camp and OTA's so it should not be that big of a suprise. Pio came in as the projected starter but Pulley is taking his position day by day. Same thing happened to Brett Jones when Pio got to compete with him for the starting Center job.
I actually had a board...
Halapio can help create movement against strength and will keep the pocket firm. However don't expect much downfield.
Evaluating Latimer and Fowler chances of making roster purely for receiving skills is a definition of shallow stupidity.
Nate Stupar? More like Nate Subpar.
Amirite.
