Gardner hits a shot and that scrub sack of shit makes a crazy catch, then LeMahieu hits a shot directly into the pitchers glove. This after Lindor hits a weak chopped right on the line with 2 outs, then some fucking nobody hits a 2 run homer.
Fucking tired of trash players looking like All Stars against us
The problem is the injuries are finally catching up to them.
They need SP help.
They aren’t hitting...and are not really getting length from starters...
Cessa and Holder need to go, along with Morales...
No excuses I don’t want to hear about injuries. There is still good players two of them are being rested today because Boone thinks it’s September 8th with a 13 game lead inexcusable for then both to be out of the line up and Morales to be playing
The slump is here. There is no way the could have continued to play better than .750 ball. Gotta ride it out.
It was bound to happen, but there’s definitely some dead weight on the roster that is hopefully thinned out soon. Morales getting so many ABs despite being clearly washed up is baffling
Guys like Holder and Cessa keep coming into winnable games and quickly put them of reach. Holder just gave up a home run to one of the worst hitters in baseball
With the uncertainty now surrounding Betances and the starters not giving any length we may need another bullpen arm as well
Is voit hurt?? How does he not hit for that waste there
We keep hearing about analytics and when to rest guys but my question is when will the analytics say to sit Morales? Doesn't the analytics apply to him?
I don't see any good reason why he was in there at DH and not Gary or Voit. If the analytics say they both needed to sit today, I say rerun that friggin data because it makes no sense to me.
It doesn't matter in the least Morales was batting lefty against a righty because he can't hit and Gary and Voit face and hit righties all the time.
Id be careful not to trade out of desperation this season Â
So many injuries to great and young players demonstrated the value of depth and more depth
This is exactly the wrong time to trade depth for a star. Much of our eventual stock of tradeable minors are a year or two away from peak value or even ability for the Yankees to sort their end point potential
Andujar, Frazier, Florial, German, Loisiga, Bird, are all below their value right now even if you wanted to trade them. And some of the folks on that list are beginning to look flawed enough when it comes to competing with the elite teams
Severino and Betances and Judge are too valuable to risk injuries coming back to soon.
This year has to play out however it does. My guess is strong enough to hold off the Rays and Sox but not strong enough to get past the Astros

morales and give Brad Miller his roster spot. Miller is doing well in Scranton since the Yankees sign him in late April . He has about 10 home runs and batting .280 he can play anywhere in the infield and outfield
They have now lost 4 out 5 games to bad teams including two series in a row I had a feeling this team was gonna go into a funk when they lost to price sunday night if they lose to Varges and the Mets mnday I will smash the TV they have a tough stretch coming as well
Although...and this is pure speculation...this injury ridden season is an object lesson to Betances, Judge and Sanchez that maybe its soon time to sign contracts and not take chances? Getting our core locked in makes sense to me
If the same money went to them on team reasonable terms rather than Keuchel then Im fine with that over the long haul
Morales hopefully should be gone when Stanton comes back Â
Maybin goes when Judge is back. Need Romine as BUC, a BU infielder Urshela and Frazier has to stay. Holder and Cessa being overused and exposed. Really need another reliable reliever or SP.CC is a 5 inning pitcher on most days. German starting to cool down. Severino and Betances Big ????.

The idea of you smashing your tv over a June baseball game is so hilarious that I kind of hope we lose Monday
Jonathan Non-Holder struck again,
now lost 5 out of 6 games.
Green against Shane Bieber tomorrow, alrighty now.
The Indians aren't even that good this year, heck Toronto's lineup is scarier than the Tribe.
They have two hitters basically.
Not good news with Betances still feeling some discomfort. I'm starting to think we might not see him or Sevy this year but I'm holding out hope they can make it back at some point.
RE: Sounds like Stanton might be back in two weeks Â
Not good news with Betances still feeling some discomfort. I'm starting to think we might not see him or Sevy this year but I'm holding out hope they can make it back at some point.
I think Sevy will be back. He has had no pain for nearly a month. He just ramped it up to quickly this spring and probably hurt the lat compensating for the shoulder.
Sad news on Dellin. I thought Boone said that the soreness the other day was expected and not unusual...
They certainly need Stanton and Judge quickly. The magical bats have gone quiet. Gary, Luke and Gio a bit sporadic recently.

I'm hopeful Sevy will be back but I'm worried we don't know how the shoulder is. He was shut down because of the lat and once that's healed we still have to see if the shoulder is. Maybe the lat was a blessing in disguise as it gave the shoulder more time. Fingers crossed that's the case.....

I read an article the other day, can’t remember where but in it Sevy was quoted as saying he hasn’t felt any pain in his shoulder at all for 3 weeks
on a 97 mph high fastball. Works out of the jam. Good Job.
Yep. That K was the Green we expect to see. Maybe not going down 3-0 but the battle back and high heat to punch him out.
If he gets going it'll be another huge plus for this team.
Without doubt. Back to sitting 96-97. Control is still a touch off. He seems to have a bit of trouble coming out for the 2nd inning.
Yeah I agree about the second inning with him. Ideally it would be one and done with him but I think they need him in their opener type role for now. I tend to think they're right on that as there really isn't anyone I'd be more comfortable in that role for now.
Once the rotation gets everyone back, hopefully having to go two innings will have gotten him untracked and he can get back to giving us one real good one.
If he's back to the old one good inning Green by the stretch run, I'm good with that.

Cortez doing well as the 2nd man in also. I did not think much of him at 1st. But he's done well.
Kay has to stop with the "juuuust missed." Both of those pitches were nowhere near strikes. 1st was low and away and the 2nd was in the other batter's box.
Trash hitter after trash hitter burned them. I had to look up Mike Freeman because I've never heard of him in my life. He's a 31 year old minor league lifer who had 1 home run in 146 MLB plate appearance before today, a sparkling .515 career OPS. How on earth do you give up a 2 run homer to that clown????
And now an error from Didi of all people....holy fucking shit, this is the most disastrous series I can remember. Cleveland's lineup fucking sucks ass. There is absolutely no excuse for getting lit up by these jokers over and over again.
This team has fallen back down to Earth and then some. Â
Frustrating weekend...really, a frustrating week...but a gutty win to close it out today.
.
Maybe some of the veterans in the BP should take notice,

it always seems like ball 1, ball 2.
Like Ottavino today for example, than throws a 3-0 cookie for a HR, geez.
Wow, can't believe Didi butchered that play in the 9th.
Glad they pulled it out in the 10th, that would have been
ugly to lose that game. Here come the Mets, very quick homestand.
makes a bad week a little less bad. Still tied for 1st and Boston 7 back. After this week I'll surely take it.
Same here.
It wasn't pretty but it was gritty and showed some backbone. Much better flight home now and some relief for us as well.
Here's hoping they get back to tacking on runs like they had been. They were so good at that when they were rolling and this counting on one inning bs has got to stop.
They were taking the fight outta teams by scoring a run here and there while leading but now they're giving teams some life. Let's get back to stepping on throats with this homestand starting with the Mets.
Cimber can be brutal on righties with that frisbee slider especially when he gets ahead in the count. Frazier laid off those 2 sliders just outside, got it to 3-2 and then drove a pitch he could handle for the sac fly. Really mature AB
has bothered him the last 3 starts. As he got into the 3rd and 4th innings the strain started to bark and that is where he kept losing it. I was wondering if he was getting tired in the last two. Kind of answers the question. So by not saying anything and trying to push through it he may have injured himself. Hopefully it will only require a missed start or two.

Yea I read that. It definitely makes sense as he seemed to start ok in these starts and then lose it by the 3rd or 4th inning.
looks to be a long reliever. I see a legit starter. Using him as long relief is wasting him. He has that easy power even with the awkward fall off at the end. Hopefully this is only a two or three start shutdown.
Unlike Loaisiga, I see a decent future with German.
has made big strides this season. But he's getting hit hard third time through the lineup. OPS against of I think .944 the third time through. Of course, every SP sees that number increase, but that's going to be the challenge that could set him apart as a true top of the rotation guy, or just a solid back end starter that needs to be carefully managed by the 6th inning.
and in his first full year as a starting pitcher. He is capable of adjustment, of building up his stamina, etc etc. Doesn't mean he will, but let's not pencil him in for either ace or 5-inning starter just yet.

Not an ace, but I could see a legit #3 with the stuff to top out at a #2. His control improved markedly from last season, so I don't see him as a 5 inning starter, either. Health is everything and will determine his ceiling or legitimacy.

I think the big issue is that he has missed a LOT of time with injury over the past several seasons. I think that caused people to think he will not be able to "hold up" over a full season.
Last year he also had some issues with the "one bad inning" complex- and some issues with command.
With that said, he has always had high end "stuff." He could stand to master another pitch, just to make the hitters think a bit more and get them not to sit on the FB.
On the other hand, if he stays where he is right now and stays healthy (meaning he throws 160-180 IP a year), he's no worse than a #3 SP. However, IMO, if he can add a 3rd pitch that is more than a "show me" pitch that he can get swings and misses with, he can be a legit #2 SP- and MAYBE a #1.
IMO, it just comes down to health and whether he can stand up to 180 IP on an annual basis.

His numbers went up big time since the injury started. So I don't know if that skewed the stats because of it.
He was sporting a high 2 ERA until the KC game when the injury appeared and had only given up 6 HRs iirc until that point.
But it is part of the learning curve. I'm sure between fatigue and resulting sloppiness the OPS would rise later in the game.

I think a big part of it is that he is really relying on only 2 pitches. He needs a 3rd pitch that he can get consistent swings and misses on (or get strikes).
Hitters are smart- you can fool them on one or two pitches, but after they have seen everything you have a couple times, they adjust. If German develops a consistent 3rd pitch, he could really be dominant. He could go with his best 2 pitches the first time or two through the order, then shift gears and mix in the 3rd pitch to keep hitters off balance later in the game.
Very nice to see Didi being productive right outta the gate.
Eerily similar to last night. Get two early and then drop it into neutral. Frustrating to say the least as they should be carving this guy up.

5-0 - passed the sketchy 2-0 point.
Here's hoping the crooked number today fares better than the 2.

His best pitch is his slider now. It is a good one.

It is not. He is dicey most of the time and that was an easy hopper that Didi 99xs out of 100 is an out.
