So, without any context besides that video it sure doesn't look like it was a robbery, Ortiz has his back to the guy.
So, maybe there is context we don't have that the guy tried to rob Ortiz and came back pissed off.
But why report it as a robbery? Early incident incorrect conclusion? Certainly possible, happens all the time these days.
Or maybe there was a prior altercation/incident we don't know about yet.

for the first time .It was a cool experience .The hotel took us to a huge old church and shopping mall about an hour outside of Puta Cana .Going there in the Mini Bus and driving through some of the towns I could not believe how crazy the drivers were .They just didn’t give a shit .I never saw anything like it .It was nuts .Guys on mopeds were cutting off cars and buses .Guys in cars were cutting off people on mopeds who ride with no helmets lol .It truly has to be seen to be believed .Also I saw a lot of baseball complexes .I don’t think they were MLB affiliated but they looked like training centers .On the way back after we left the mall and were driving back to Puta Cana we passed an open field and there looked to be like 10 houses close together where people were living but it was kind of strange because it looked like the houses belonged in mountains and not five minutes from a shopping mall and town where there tons of people where. These people were washing their clothes in the water and there were no tv antennas on top those houses .It was strange lol
