Engram explains why he hasn't been around ....

Manny in CA : 6/10/2019 10:19 pm
Next to Barkley, he's the "goose that laid the golden egg" - Basically, he's the guy who is being counted to take up the big play slack now that OBJ's gone.

It sounds sensible health wise + that leaves more reps for Conrad

If he stays healthy, he’s going to have a big year.

Like Pro Bowl worthy season. Probably won’t get selected unless the team record is on the plus side of .500

Kittle made it. 2nd Team after Zach Ertz. He was 2nd Team All-Pro, too, after Ertz and Travis Kelcie.
Disregard.

Just got the context, 90.
Sounds like he hurt his hamstring again

That's why he's not participating:

@JordanRaanan

Evan Engram has been nursing a hamstring injury. That's why he's missed OTAs and minicamp. Giants are being smart with him. Coach Pat Shurmur said he fully expects him to be ready for training camp.
I don't think Engram is being counted on for anything

He's had trouble staying healthy and when he is healthy, he has trouble catching the ball (and I'm not talking about tough catches, either, I'm talking about 3rd and 3 and he runs a pattern just past the first down marker, but drops one right in his hands). And he is a poor blocker.

But he is fast. Straight line fast. There's not a lot of wiggle to his game.
I agree Milton.

I don't think the coaching staff is particularly enamored with him.

I still think, if Conrad turns into a viable player, Engram could get traded. Ellison/Simonson/Conrad - a workmanlike TE group that is balanced enough for a balanced/running offense.
he didn't explain much of any thing
fkap : 6/11/2019 5:27 pm : link
says the past injuries are over, but doesn't explain why the Giants are being cautious.

One of the other reports indicate he's nursing a hamstring injury.
He missed one game in his rookie year.
Klaatu : 6/11/2019 7:21 pm : link
He missed five in his second year. That hardly makes him injury prone.

He dropped a lot of passes in his rookie year, much more than you would have figured, since his catch rate in college was 70% (with a true catch rate of 80%). As an NFL rookie, 56%.

But in his second year, his catch rate improved to...wait for it...70%. Also, his ypc went from 11.3 to 12.8.
The guy is an absolute terror running crossing routes.
