Wheeler vs. Tanaka
74 degrees at first pitch, no chance of rain.
GO YANKEES
Get your head out of your ass Tanaka

Or should have caught it to end the inning. I'm being a bit hard on him especially after the long layoff, but I'm used to seeing him make plays.
Wheeler can stay in Queens. I've seen the awesome arm, no results show before.

But allstarjim say ZOMG Wheeler's the awesomest ever! DON'T YOU KNOW HE'S HAD TO FACE THE MIGHTY NATS 4 TIMES ALREADY????
It is normal around here.
Wheeler pitches around Hicks to get to Voit.

Careful what you wish for....
I think his confidence is on the fritz. He's pressing. Trying to hard to be "himself" after more or less declaring himself different and unchanging.
I think it has all snowballed from that one game in Houston early on, the one where he dove twice and missed twice.
Dogs n cats - living together!
MASS HYSTERIA!
8-4
He still pays homage to

Exactly. He was a media darling before that, and a pariah afterwards for not speaking with them. I honestly don't think he realized what he was in for when the NYC klieg lights were trained upon him. He'll learn.

Greg: "I really like Stroman and have long wanted him on the Yankees"
Also Greg: "Wheeler is mediocre and will likely always will be."
Stroman: 3.75 FIP 1.322 WHIP, 8.8 H/9, 0.8 HR/9, 3.1 BB/9, 6.9 K/9
Wheeler: 3.56 FIP, 1.226 WHIP, 8.4 H/9, 1.2 HR/9, 2.7 BB/9, 10 K/9
Go figure.
I already explained why I don't really give a shit about FIP. Also, one pitches in the AL East, one pitches in the NL East. Which do you think is a more difficult environment for a pitcher?
Fuckin' lame. "But but but I don't LIKE that stat!"
And btw, Wheeler pitching in the NL East definitely has had it tougher. More teams with deeper offenses in the NL East than the AL East, who have the Yankees and Red Sox.
The NL East have the worst offense in baseball in the Marlins, but the other 3 teams are really good offensively.
And Stroman has 3 starts vs AL East opponents this year, 1 vs the Red Sox, 1 vs the Rays, and 1 vs the Orioles...give me a break.
On the flip side, Wheeler has already faced the Nationals 4 times, the Braves once, and the Phillies twice (as well as a start vs the Marlins). There is zero question about it, Wheeler has faced a much tougher slate of games thus far this season.
I can't wait until Wheeler slaps the Yankees down tomorrow night.
Yeah but to be fair he thought the game was going to be tonight and not this afternoon.
I think he's definitely gun shy/ leery of contact with anything out there,i.e. a wall or another player.
It was like he had that one all the way and caught a glimpse of Hicks and got spooked or something, then realized he was ok. Luckily enough the ball hung up enough for him get his bearings back and make the catch.
It sure wasn't pretty and there's something going on with him out there I'm not sure reps will cure. I think it's more like getting through this season, putting the concussions behind him and getting his mojo back out there. I hate to say it but it's almost like he's playing scared out there. Maybe scared is too severe but too cautious maybe?
Hey man, blame the guy who was puffing his chest out yesterday. If you do that and your boy gets torched then, yeah, you're in for a mocking.
My point about Wheeler stands - he's a great thrower who isn't a great pitcher. Lots of Ks but lots of hard contact as well.
Weren't you a Mets fan completely ecstatic with their 11-1 start just 14 short months ago?
Guess Wheeler is pitching the 2nd game, too.
But ryan is right, the BP has sucked the past week.
Not for nothing dude, but what did you expect?
And yes, I am a Mets fan and was very happy with their start. Was I supposed to be mad about their start? Find some better material gents.
Yanks are a much better team than the mets...i don't get what you want me to say about it
Yup, his heat was going to carry them and setup the Yanks to be thrown off tonight by Vargas and his off speed stuff.
Sounds like a good theory but so far the Yanks have handled the heat from Wheeler. We'll see later about Vargas.
Like I thought coming in, these Yanks aren't fazed by anyone and just play who's next.
We are all very aware that there's another game this evening. That's how double-headers work.
