Is it time to give up on him or hold out hope?
Has to be the worst and biggest decline I've seen for someone who finished tied for 3rd in MVP voting two years in a row.
Unfortunately this also goes back to last August as well and is not just this season where he's slumping.
I have him and neither make any sense. Players almost always return to the norm so it makes sense to just ride out the slump. The SBs are nice though.
I had Scooter Gennett but dropped him due to other injuries, was thinking of picking him back up with him looking like he'll be getting it going soon. My choices to drop are Molina, Garver, David Fletcher or maybe trade Ramirez and Clint Frazier for a P. I was able to pick up Yordan Alvarez and do not want to drop him (keeper league where keeping a FA pickup only loses your last pick).
That's as lazy as it gets for comparisons sake. Sanchez had an unbelievably low BABIP and was hitting the ball very hard last year.
Ramirez on Statcast, hard hit rate is just brutal.
Ramirez then almost made it back to me in round 2. I was salivating at the thought of Acuna/JRam as my first two players - but JRam got taken the pick before me and I wound up taking Javy Baez instead.
I'd say that worked out quite well. I was concerned with the way Ramirez finished last year on top of the fact that he was a bit banged up. There was a FBB thread a little before the season where we were talking about JRam specifically a bit and that was why I passed on him @ 5.
There's really no option right now. You can't drop him. You just have to hope he has a strong 2nd half and finds his groove.
He's scuffling. No real way around it. A wRC+ of 55 is dreadful for him. But he's so much better than this.
My lineup is pretty much unfair right now...
Willson Contreras
Eddy Encarnacion
Javy Baez
Anthony Rendon
Corey Seager
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ketel Marte
Eloy Jimenez
Rafael Devers
Fernando Tatis Jr
DJ LeMahieu
Matt Chapman
Yordan Alvarez
It's only 10 teams - but even in a 10 team, this is a monster.
My pitching isn't quite as good, but it's good enough... 8-2 through 10 weeks. I'll take it.
As it stands I have
Yadier Molina
Mitch Garver
Pete Alonso
Tommy La Stella
David Fletcher
Trevor Story
Clint Frazier
Charlie Blackmon
Avisail Garcia
Dansby Swanson
Tommy Pham
Yordan Alvarez
Eugenio Suarez
Jose Ramirez
Joey Gallo
Arron Judge (DL spot)
I'll have to drop 1 of them when Judge and Gallo come back unless somone else goes on the DL.
7-3 through 10 weeks, though it's points based standings so I'm in 5th and 12 GB right now.
And although I'm happy about it for my fantasy team, Alvarez looks like he's going to be a big problem. 2 games, already 2 HR's. Guy is a monster. Not thrilled about the 'Stros having another big young bat entering the equation. They're going to be very tough to get through in the AL again this year.
As for Marte, the flexibility was one of the reasons I got him, consolations is at least having La Stella (2b and 3b) and Fletcher (2b, 3b, SS and OF). Fletcher isn't giving much in the way of power but has a solid .308 avg. and only 15 K's in 221 AB's and some other solid metrics.

Ketel is having a heck of a breakout year. He's also 2B/SS/OF eligible in Yahoo, which is awesome. I can plug him in all over the place.

The Astro’s literally have too many good young players. Kyle Tucker is another kid that in most other organizations would already be playing OF in the big leagues. Springer is hurt and there’s still no room for Tucker. Unreal. Bastards
Embarrassment of riches over there. They have pitching, too. Going to be a heck of a challenge to get past them this year.
For the Yanks to win it all, they'll probably have to not only take the Astros down, but they'll probably run into the Dodgers if they even manage to do that... which won't be any easier. Ryu is unhittable right now and that lineup is the best in baseball at this point.
That said... many things can and will change as we progress through the season. Should be a fun summer/fall.
