I'd split up Judge and Stanton.

That lineup is ridiculously good. And that's with missing Andujar! You can sort of see why Cashman didn't feel the need to got get either Harper or Machado. A non-move that's looking pretty good right now as both have struggled this season.

I see the potential for back to back strikeouts being a detriment to them back to back but I also see the pressure they'd put on pitchers. I'd imagine it would be pretty daunting to see them back to back and then followed by Sanchez.

By the time a pitcher got past those guys he'd be pretty spent mentally IMO and I'd imagine physically he wouldn't be in great shape either. If those three even touched him up a little, the rest of the guys following will be feasting.
Probably close to

the real lineup. Voit batting 5th or
6th...ridiculous
right now
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 6:50 pm : link
Sanchez is K'ing more than ever. Voit likely needs to slot in with Gregorious between Judge (Gregorius) Stanton (Voit) Sanchez.
Does a strikeout count more than a regular out?
Tesla : 6/13/2019 6:53 pm : link
If not who the #$%^ cares if a batter strikes out or grounds out, unless there's a man on 3rd with less than 2 out. And if there's a runner on 1st with less than 2 out a K is infinitely better than a double play ball.
Why is Tauchman playing
Mike Graves : 6/13/2019 6:53 pm : link
Frazier plays the OF and you keep Urshela at 3rd. DH voit. Urshela should not be taking out of this line up it’s ridiculous now

Because he's been slumping.

Yes there is a difference. Fielders make errors. Strike outs have almost 0% chance of helping except on a dropped strike with a passed ball. A ball in play has a chance for an error. Only thing detrimental on a ball in play is a DP.

I'm not talking about balls in play vs. K's. I'm talking about a guy who hits .260 and K's a lot vs. a guy who hits .260 and hardly ever K's. What's the difference?

Judge hits around .280....is that worse than a guy hitting .260 who rarely K's????

You did not say that and even then you are still wrong about Ks. Nothing good happens from a K unless you are the pitcher.
Now, everyone whiffs, that is understood. But wouldn't you rather see Judge make contact every at bat? With his power he can flick his wrists and hit it 400 ft.
K's need to go
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 7:50 pm : link
maybe next year Manfred can change up the baseballs so they pop a mini-parachute about 20 feet from the plate.
re: K's vs ball in play ("BIP")
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 7:57 pm : link
With shifting and players often out of their regular position, I'll take a BIP every time (unless Morales is hitting, or someone else with cement kicks). If you watch the Yankees over the past few months you can see how many games we have won by playing small ball.

I really hope Judge and Stanton can real it in a bit. With the new magic baseballs they almost don't have to do more than poke at the ball for it to go out.
were there fireworks before the game?
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 8:11 pm : link
why anyone older than 6 wants to see fireworks is beyond me.

So Nova is going

to pitch his one sterling performance tonight?
Man Gardy can still
section125 : 6/13/2019 8:41 pm : link
fly.

Another RBI from Frazier who I think is batting over .400 w/RISP.

Maybe Maybin is in trouble......
no way Frazier is going down to keep Maybin up
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 8:46 pm : link
we have Gardy for defense. Without strong starting pitching, we need bats every night.

They do have Tauchman just in case of injury if they let Maybin go.
I think we got all the value out of Maybin and Morales

Yeah, Maybin has plenty value as a reliable 4th OF. Morales is below marginal at this point. And Maybin is better than Tauchman at this point.

As Gardy mashes again.
What is the deal with the pitchers looking in their hats?
Jints in Carolina : 6/13/2019 9:30 pm : link
.
Happ being stupid.
section125 : 6/13/2019 9:30 pm : link
Yeah walking Jimenez is the thing to do to get to a .190 hitter. Then throw 4 straight offspeed balls to that .190 hitter.

I just don't understand why we didn't go after Corbin and Kikuchi who had upside and then paid Happ like he is someone we will rely on in the playoffs.

I wonder if when they unintentionally-intentionally walk someone(pitch around) if the lose their feel. He was pounding the zone until that inning.
Happ

running out of gas. I hope they don’t blow a 4-run lead for the sake of getting Happ the win.

Sucks. Charlie Morton same age was cheaper and is 8-0 never should of resigned this guy and took a chance on Morton
It's sad that I'm already wondering
illmatic : 6/13/2019 9:57 pm : link
how difficult it will be for them to get out of the third year of Happ's contract.
Strange, strange signing Happ was for more than a year.
Dave in Hoboken : 6/13/2019 10:03 pm : link
Hell, the first year isn't even looking like anything to write home about. Ooof.

Can we please get a good pitcher and enough of these mediocre at best pitchers like Happ, Gray, current day CC, etc. Christ. Get a good pitcher in here.

There were some injury concerns with Morton. No idea if we were ever interested but I found the amount we signed Happ for to be ridiculous regardless.
Hicks looks lost
section125 : 6/13/2019 10:30 pm : link
tonight. That was ball three, but close and he looks uncomfortable.
I say it every GD game
RasputinPrime : 6/13/2019 10:30 pm : link
if these fucking donkeys behind the plate would call the zone, hitters wouldn't be in bad counts and wouldn't be striking out this much. There might actually be plays in the field to enjoy.

I remember watching This Week in Baseball and homeruns were not the only highlights. Now when i watch highlights, it's basically an exercise in who hit the homers.
