Nothing makes it go away other than rest. You can't watch TV. You can't drive. You can't do anything that makes you tilt your head up even slightly, like reaching up for a glass or to change a lightbulb.
Nimmo has to learn how to manage it. Even sleeping the wrong way can make it worse.
But it can also go away as quickly as a it comes on if the disc slips back in place when the inflamation goes down
Wright was initially diagnosed with a bulging disc, that later turned into a herniated disc, which was later spinal stenosis.
Maybe completely unrelated, since he had back issues earlier than the herniated disc in is neck was reported, but that seemed like the beginning of the end.
Has anyone gone over the fact that the Mets talked themselves out of a probable win with all the bellyaching about the tarp last night? I excuse Alonso a bit, but does anyone in the dugout know the rules?
They did bring up the Upton game but not sure about this last one
I just have to believe a different manager gets more out of this team and a ton more out of the pen. Mickey seems to just throw a RP out there and hope he gets through 3 outs. There's no finesse no match up moves.
But this is a classic NYM outcome, esp after last game. STL playing poorly, but not poorly enough for NYM w/ their ace, w/ a 2 run lead in the 9th & closer up...still time but well
Sure they are hovering at .500, so it ain't over (as NYG fans we must appreciate this a little), but man it's a tough team to get excited about
This - You have one of the most exciting rookies in the majors this year, the reigning Cy Young Award winner a 2nd year guy who can hit anything and just rakes day in and out and Thor (sorry haters, the guy's very good AND fun to watch)
So there's a lot that makes me WANT to get excited but every time they get close to .500 they implode, and it's getting old.
at some point the manager is the only option left to change. Is it fair? I don't know, maybe not. But this isn't 1 or 2 guys, it's 2 years of BP's full of guys with MLB track records pitching like crap.
If they dont turn it around in time for this series @Atlanta, the division could be lost before 7/20. 4 gamer at Chicago to follow that too. Yankees and Phillies after.
This was the worst day of the year but the team cant feel sorry for itself. The rest of this weekend and upcoming games are crucial.
You need to fire a guy and fathers day is approaching
Just can this inept turd already. I mean how on earth was he hired. As an x's and o's guy, he's is about as lost and out of his depth as I've ever seen a manager. I would never know that Callaway was involved with baseball at ANY level that's how bad he is with his decision making. Some managers play chess, some play checkers. Mickey's playing rock paper scissor.
He will respect his veterans but he won't be afraid of them and keep putting them in roles where they fail.
Familia cannot be the set-up man. That should be Lugo. Gsellman should be the 7th inning guy. Diaz is the closer. Nothing you can do about that. But stop putting him in tie games in the ninth. He sucks at that and did last year as well. Also, the next time he is about to blow a multiple-run lead, don't be afraid to pull him.
I used to be a Knicks fan but after Ewing, who was my favorite player, and the incessant mismanagement of the club, coupled with the terrible product overall (league-wide), I just stopped caring at all. Don't watch basketball anymore, and I'll tell you, I'm getting close with baseball and the Mets. They seriously find the most improbable ways to lose and I have already been through too much with this team.

Ah, but didn't 2015 (and 16) make it all worth it? Ok, so we couldn't take it all the way home in the series and we ended up on the short side of the Thor vs Mad Bum thriller. But those seasons were magical and they weren't that long ago.
Don't know how old you are but we suffered a HELL of a lot longer with MUCH worse teams before XXI and XXV came along which made them all that much sweeter.
Leave the "if you don't win this year I'm quittin you" types for the Yankees and the Patriots. The Mets have always been heart breakers - that's just another reason to keep rooting.
during the madoff years i was 90% checked out - this group of players
is good enough to win so i'll give them a chance until it appears this window has been totally squandered. Sandy had his flaws but he hoarded more young (now aging into their primes) talent than we've probably ever had. JDG, Thor, Wheeler, Conforto, McNeil, Alonso etc.
The Wilpons are awful owners, it will take a herculean effort by someone in the organization to win despite them. I doubt BVW is that guy but you never know. He's been a lot more Omar than Sandy so far as a gm, which is not a good thing IMO.
If he can get rid of Callaway and bring in a veteran manager with a winning track record that will be a big achievement neither of the other 2 ever pulled off.

I'm just about to turn 43. Been watching this team for decades. And no, the Giants have never made me suffer this much for this long. There's only so many implosions I can take, compounded by some truly shitty owners.

Theres really no comparison between the NY Mets and NY Football Giants. Both won titles in 86...one team has done jack shit since then and the other has one 3 titles. Not even in the same stratosphere.
2015 was a nice surprise but most people forget how abysmal most of that season was before their miracle stretch in AUGUST. The post season was a great ride because our team was build with great pitching. But soon enough the warts of our team showed up in glorious fashion. That 2015 team could have been the beginning, but Sandy went out of his way to make the team WORSE. Sandy literally watched how the Royals team played their way into consecutive World Series and said Fuck it, Im going in a different direction.
As predicted, 2016 sucked and we didnt even make the postseason...so not sure about that one. The Wilpons dont give a shit about their fans or putting a competitive team on the field. They have zero connect to their fan base (as evidenced by the shrine to a DODGER player front and center in their stadium). They are crooks, thieves and liars. At some point, you grow up and look to eliminate frustration stuff like the Mets from your life. And thats us mid-80s fans.
I personally think the Mets are going to be in trouble soon. Outside of the mid-80s generation of fans, who else do they really have?
have a locker at Citifield? He hasn't played a game for the Mets.
I think the Mets forgot about half of "pitching and defense wins championship"

#Mets D:
* -53 DRS, last in the NL, 2nd worst in #MLB
* -7 UZR, 3rd worst in NL, 7th worst in MLB
* 50 errors, most in NL, 5th worst in MLB
* 132 DPs, 4th fewest in NL, 12th fewest in MLB
This is a huge contributor to the pitching problems in general, bullpen and rotation.
Over the past decade this franchise is among MLB's worst in D & BP
we lost in the WS bc of defense and BP. I don't think it's an aberration that every year our BP fails us. And what's stranger is those are 2 of the cheaper areas to fix with $ than starting pitchers or power hitters. But maybe that's the trickle down effect of constantly playing guys out of position or living with defensive flaws because we were always desperate for hitting. Duda to LF, Murphy in LF, Conforto to CF, Flores at SS, Cespedes to CF, resigning Bruce, and now adding a 36 year old Cano.
The BP this year (and last) shouldn't have been as bad as they've been and each year had an almost entirely new group of players. Most disappointing area of Callaway's tenure is how he's gotten less out of almost every pitcher he's coached vs. prior, with pretty much the only exception being JDG last year.

Brandon Nimmo has been scratched from the Syracuse lineup tonight with neck soreness. Hell be re-evaluated tomorrow, but thats obviously concerning.

Yeah as Pete was going on I was wondering why he is pushing to play regardless
(Actually had a short power outage so missed it completely)

hanging in no-man's land is the worst.
And they don't even have a lot of tradeable players to be sellers if the next few weeks don't go well.
Frazier? Vargas?

As for the manager, nothing left to say. He was a nothing last season as well. I have no idea what the point is in continuing on with him.
This was the worst day of the year but the team cant feel sorry for itself. The rest of this weekend and upcoming games are crucial.
The bleeding must stop now.
No wait
Decades ago.
So once again, it comes back to the cheapass Wilpons.
Talk about pennywise, pound foolish. The stands will empty by July.

Jed Lowries status remains very unclear and its not clear which injury or how many injuries hes dealing with
Brodie Van Wagenen said Lowries left side has caused him problems. He declined to elaborate.
Lowrie no longer has a locker in the Mets clubhouse at Citi Field.
