I do like the rookie allocation which takes all the hold-out crap out of the equation....especially when the rookies play more from game 1.
This is by far the greatest development to come out of the new CBAs over the last 15-20 years. Summer Holdouts completely ruined football teams year after year. Mostly Everything else about the CBAs sucks but this isn’t one of them.
the guys who participate in OTA's without a contract. What happens if they get hurt? Is there some prearranged agreement regarding money?
They do sign waivers.
And I assume buy a short term policy in case of injury.
While it's called a waiver, the agreement that drafted rookies sign actually places an obligation on the team to continue to negotiate in good faith.
And, in practice, this has meant drafted rookies who get injured get paid according to the established salary slots.
So they don't need to buy insurance policies.
UDFAs don't have the same protection.

I assume though it doesn’t preclude a player from buying one. If I was a top pick worth The cost for peace of mind God forbid a catastrophic injury were to occur

I do NOT miss the hold-outs.
It's probably not uncommon for a CB to idolize Deion.

As much as Revis was a high pick not even the Jets knew Revis was going to be the Revis we came to know when he was drafted.
