Nats will need to eat a lot of money for that to happen. If we are serious about this season, we need Sevy to be our ace and we'll need another top of the rotation starter. I don't mind that Cashman wanted to wait to see if someone from the current club would step up but it seems clear by now that isn't going to happen.
If it means giving up less, hell, take on the money. They need an Ace now. If Severino comes back healthy and in first half 2018 form, great. But, they can’t sit and hope that happens.

Is love to have Sherzer but taking on 150 mil when we'll have to take care of Judge,Gary, Didi, and Betances soon is a lot of dough to shell out.

Pitching problems this team has and 7 games with Tampa and Houston coming the next week.. this team could easily slip into 3rd place. I refuse to bury the Red Sox. They will in this race all season and they Yankees still have to play them 8 times in Boston.
