Vegas sets odds for Giants to win NFC East in 2019 at 14:1

BlueLou'sBack : 6/15/2019 12:16 pm
Might be one of the best season's bets. Computer simulation models have simulated the Giant's chances at 22.5% right in between 4:1 and 5:1.

I'm normally not a gambler, but I'm thinking about dropping $100 on this one.

Thanks to whoever mentioned it some time ago, and found 15:1 odds for the Giants.
There is no way any reasonable computer simulation

has given us 4-1, 5-1 odds to win the NFC East.
There is no way the Giants are winning the East unless

the Cowboys or Eagles have serious injury problems. Or DJ has the greatest season of a rookie QB ever.
I might lay some cheddar on that

Here's my source:

How they ran their simulations, IDK, but the strength of schedule factors in heavily it appears. Giants have what - 6th easiest? schedule in 2019.
Giants may be a best bet as division champs - ( New Window )
There have been
Gman11 : 6/15/2019 12:32 pm : link
bigger worst to first turnarounds in the NFC East in prior years. If they show a better offensive line and a resemblance of a pass rush I don't think it's out of the question to win the division.
Yeh if strength of schedule factors in heavily that makes sense.

Is there an online casino where you can place a bet on this?

would probably be a better bet.

I actually like Jones and am hopeful this team is finally moving in the right direction, but I think it would take a miracle for the Giants to even win 8 games this year

Eli’s finished, Jones is a rookie, zero pass rush.

If Jones is the real deal I wont care that much about the record this year, just get him as much experience as possible this year.

The roster still isnt any good. The coach is still a loser.

Theres reasons to be optimistic about the future finally, but I dont see any reason to be optimistic about winning a division title in 2019

You shouldn't have used the word "optimistic" anywhere in your post. It's oxymoronic.
Giants futures are always overinflated due to the NY market, but
Zeke's Alibi : 6/15/2019 1:46 pm : link
this year I think 15-1 is pretty spot on. Probably because every one is down on them as a whole. The Giants probably could win 10 games if everything breaks right and they stay healthy at some key positions and players. The only chance we have of winning the East is if we stay healthy and the Eagles and Boys have injuries to key positions and players. That represents our 7 percent chance.
I am not high on the Giants chances this year...
AdamBrag : 6/15/2019 2:51 pm : link
but the NFC East is always tight and the Giants have a soft SOS. This seems like a very solid bet.
Would argue that
Dankbeerman : 6/15/2019 3:10 pm : link
Our odds to win the super bowl would be higher then to win the division. Would have to start fast and stat strong for the whole season to take division with 2 above average teams in it.

We have a better chance of catching lightning in a bottle and going on a run then being a top end team from day 1

Yeh if I had to make a futures bet I'd probably lean superbowl at 125-1. If they were good enough to win the division with a young team like this you gotta like those odds. Plus this opens them up to a much more likely wild card spot.
I got 75:1 odds for the Giants winning the SB.

I put $20 on it in Vegas a couple of months ago. Why not?
22%ish sounds right for me.

There are a ton of close games in the NFL, and every year a fluke team makes the playoffs. I think the Giants will be awful next year, but yeah, there's some chance they're not. I won't bet on the Giants out of principle (I don't want to be doubly angry if they lose or suck), but if I didn't have that weird principle, it seems like a decent risk. Don't put your mortgage on it, but if you're not hurting for money, throwing a few bucks at that seems reasonable.
For everyone talking about the schedule
Gatorade Dunk : 6/15/2019 3:38 pm : link
Do you not realize that the entire division plays the same schedule except for two games? And while the Giants have the easiest of those two games, the other teams in the division have the benefit of playing the Giants, whereas the Giants, by definition, do not.

The Giants' ability to win the division will rest entirely on their own merit in doing so, because the easy schedule is a tide that will lift all the boats in the NFC East.

I am convinced that a large majority of the fans have no clue how the schedule is set, based on the endless complaining when the schedule is released every year

For NFL. People might not remember this but there were quite a few articles last year during camp that Mahomes was really struggling, throwing INTs all over the place. He winds up the MVP.

You never know what’s going to happen. Who knows if Wentz holds up? No one knows how many cowboys will be arrested or suspended. The redskins well....

In order to win the division... we are going to have to get lucky, a couple breaks, and some players really stepping up. Probable? No. Possible? Sure.
Do you have to go to Vegas to make the bet

But in looking at it. I thought in a bad season last year they matched up well with Dallas, Philadelphia and Washington

There were other factors in that. For Giants it seemed like a tale of two seasons last year. The first half when the offensive line was in disarray, and hen the second half when the line improved and the offense shifted to be more Barkley centric. In a 5 win season they lost to the division winners by a total of 8 points, destroying Washington in the second half and really owning the eagles for the better part of 3 quarters in the second contest(still not sure why they got away from Barkley in that one as he was dominant).

I think the poor play of the offensive line really handcuffed the Giants early on, and on defense they simply lacked players. The line looks to be even more improved than it was in second half of 2018 which is great news for Barkley as I think he is the best weapon in the division. I think despite the losses of Vernon and Collins the defense has more tools for Bettcher to work with although they are very young and unproven. The oline and defense seemed to be the two areas with the most room for improvement and it looks as though the Giants have made strides in both those areas, I think they definitely have the personnel to offer up Dallas and Philadelphia stiffer competition in 2019 so I see no reason not to be optimistic.
James Bettcher's first season came with giant limitations - ( New Window )
I’ll put 100 on that tomorrow.

There’s nobody scary in our division.
It's not the worst bet
AcesUp : 6/15/2019 11:15 pm : link
Divisional longshots are one of the exploitable futures plays given the league's volatility. The short 16 game schedule, roster turnover and injuries make year to year projections flimsy.
Glad to see some optimism here.
TMS : 6/17/2019 12:02 am : link
Think the Giants are much improved personnel wise this year. Worry about how long it will take for them to get it together as a team with all these new faces. Like last year it may cost us early.
