Cilantro can enhance a meal. However, when it is wrong, yuck! I don’t begrudge anyone who chooses to leave it out.

Salsa, guac, pho, peruvian green sauce. Adds a refreshing clear note to dishes. Nom nom nom.

If you have certain alleles, cilantro tastes more or less like soap. If you don’t, it doesn’t.

That is not all there is to say, but it could be a big reason that people are split on the issue.

Don't wash your face? I've had my mouth washed out with soap as a kid but you can still taste it as an adult when cleaning yourself.
