As fans of the Giants I feel like we are in a win - win situation this year. Even if our season is over before it begins like it has been over most of the last 6 years at least we will get to watch our shiny new toy QB. There will be a reason to watch the games other than well its Giants football, only 16 weeks as year, better watch I fucking hate when our season is over by Thanksgiving, it is so depressing, especially lately we have been one of the first teams completely out of it on a regular basis.
it wouldn't surprise me if we are 4-6, 5-7, and still don't see are new toy...

LETS GO!
lmao
Having said that, this could be a year of frustration for many. Here's a situation:
Giants start out 2-5, losing a couple of games with Eli throwing 3 picks and decide it's time to switch to Jones. What happens if they go 6-3 with Jones looks like the real deal? It could be really frustrating that the switch wasn't made sooner.
A lot of other similar situations could arise. What about if we start out 9-4, then lose the last three on some combination of bad ref calls and an Eli clunker or two, missing the playoffs? Are we going to be happy that we miss the playoffs, picking 19th in the first round next year and never got to see Jones play?
As usual I'm hopeful and excited to see another season of Giants football, but one thing I've learned is that this team that I love so much will never run out of ways to leave me unsatisfied and/or frustrated. Doesn't always happen, but it certainly can.
The house has all of our money
Your second situation is highly highly unlikely with all the youth and new pieces on defense.
