NFT: Dehumidifiers - Worth fixing or buy another?

a Frigidaire and it stopped working a few days ago and it's only a year old. I'm trying to get some help from where I purchased it.

I'm going to pick one up tonight. If it breaks in 2 years I'll just return it. That's the beauty of Costco.

costco.. i didnt think about that. Good point

....and it’s still going strong. Make sure any one you get has a dust filter. The one I had before that (LG from Home Depot) didn’t and the motor burned our in a year, just past warranty.

...they just license their name to generic Chinese garbage factories.

check with your local utility company for rebates.

I just picked up this exact dehumidifier from Costco and it works great! I have it pumping water up through a drain hose into my slop sink. No need to empty the tank.

There was a massive recall a few years back that impacted a ton of models. I was about to get rid of my old one when someone mentioned the recall. Turns out mine was on the list and they sent me a brand new one after providing proof.

+1 - mine wasn't even listed but Frigidaire sent me a new one when I called to complain after it went out a little over the warranty period.

These things are all made like garbage. They didn't want the old one back so I cracked it open, the coil had developed a small leak and lost all the refrigerant. Definitely not worth having repaired, and I ended up chucking it figuring it wouldn't be too long before it lost whatever refrigerant I pumped into it.

I had an old Kenmore that lasted 15 years. Now, it's like they have a 3 year expiration built in.

Frigedaire at best buy. I read online that modern dehumidifiers don't last long, so I went ahead and got the 4 year warranty for 60 bucks.

my basement is a wet basement so i will just buy one from costco and that way i know i can return it hassle free. Do i need to save the box?
