honestly, I had hoped the Giants would take a crack at him at guard to see if there is anything left to work with. The best example of a Giant who had talent but didn't put it together at tackle was William Roberts. Roberts struggled at right tackle in 1987 when he was forced into action after Karl Nelson got sick. And in 1988, he started as a left tackle and struggled there. It wasn't until later in the season did Parcells try a new combination- moved Jumbo to left tackle. Started Reisenberg at right tackle. Played Roberts at left guard. That became the group that finally clicked.
Now, Flowers has shown little indication that he is bothering to learn any technique. So it might all be for nothing, but you can hide some of his problems at guard if he can get at least some of the techniques down (until he runs into an Aaron Donald type).
consistently shit on him. He doesn't play here anymore, he still has a job for now in the NFL that doesn't involve the Giants, so who cares.
Eh, fuck him. Some guys just arent good enough, thats to be expected and thats reality in the NFL. A lot of great college players just dont make it at the NFL level, even high draft picks.
But this slug quit on his teammates at the end of the 2017 season. Im glad the Giants will get their shots against him twice this season.

I think the vitriol towards him from Giants fans is the fact that he just didn't give a shit and let everyone know it.
I remember the Giants approaching him about switching to guard or possibly RT and he flat out refused. Maybe he has matured a bit and realizes that he is no longer on scholarship with an NFL team and may need to move or he will be out of the league.
I thought he'd be a good run blocker inside, still do.
but Washington drafted Brandon Sheriff 5th overall, told everyone they saw him as a tackle rather than a guard, and then switched him to guard after 2 ish pre-season games.

Its not like he was the type of player who worked hard and just didn't have it physically. He just didn't care enough to be good. He didn't care enough to help his team win.
So yeah, I'm going to consistently shit on him every chance I get because he's a bum.

I thought they always planned on moving him to Guard after they drafted him?
Regardless Scherff has been to two pro bowls and the Skins couldn't pick up his 5th year option quick enough. He is going to get paid next year because he is a top tier guard.

The end of 2017 thing has been debunked like 1 trillion times, so I won't go there again.
... that was the first play of the fucking season smh🤦♂️
You could just feel that play was an omen. At the time you're thinking, "OK, move on, next play"; but deep down you knew it wasn't going to be a good season.
"The challenge, he said, will be getting Flowers to adjust to the faster pace at which guards often play. Since they have a smaller area to protect, the rush comes at them faster than at tackle, where players have more time to set their feet for the rush that usually starts on the outside of the defensive line."
Flowers doesn't have the foot speed or balance to play tackle. Guards need even more of both. Flowers is sort of like James Brewer. Fantastic strength going forward, but not enough lateral quickness.
RE: I always thought Flowers showed plenty of promise

This makes sense and is a lot more insightful than the "he's lazy and stupid" takes that seem to dominate any discussion about Flowers.

Well, if he starts for one of the Giants' rivals on the OL it could benefit the Giants. And yes, I know the next gif shows him at tackle, but even at guard he's going to display poor footwork, technique, and hand placement.
Maybe in his next football reincarnation, he will play DE.

Both of which I project to be a MAJOR weak point next to an OC in Roullier that I don't think is very good...and next to LT Williams who has said he wants out.

I agree. Wished they would have at least given it a shot at G. It's not like we had world beaters at G he would have displaced.

In this video, he's fooled by a fake to the inside. I would have thought he would know enough to keep his opponent in front of him at all times as opposed to anticipating his opponent's move.

gotten to the point where some fans think Flowers was ruined by the Giants??
Holeeeee Shit!
It's the fanboys still crying in their #13 jerseys who think the Giants are now evil incarnate.
Moreso its gotten to the point that fans cannot give a comedic shot to how the franchise has failed over the past decade without it being taken with a proper grain(s)of salt.
Every now and then, take it down a notch and realize that our guys suck at this at times. And then hope that history repeats itself as the franchise seems to bounce back and surprise us all, making it all worthwhile.
He never did that here. He had a piss poor attitude, did not pal around with all the boyz, and did not have the drive to succeed

Now a Redskin, this could come back to haunt us...
Many here thought he needed to be moved inside, but I just think he's a bad football player.

I doubt it. All evidence seems to point to him just not having it in him.

Oh please.

Thanks for the laugh.
It was no secret that the Giants coveted Scherff.
I expect him to be as big of a bust at guard as he has been at tackle. I hope that he does start all year.
WAS has the potential to be really, really bad.

Holeeeee Shit!

You'd better learn to develop your own from guys with tools, or draft them in the 1st-2nd rounds.
