Didi belongs there & Hicks much lower,6th or lower.I understand getting the LH bats in to balance the lineup but Hicks & his lifetime .235 BA are not what a #3 hitter should be!

Because Hicks' OBP the last two seasons was .372 and .366 while Didi's was .318 and .335.
Where did all these Hicks haters come from the past two days? Dude has one of the best eyes on a team with plenty of good eyes.
Maybe it's just his slow start average wise, but once he gets going... and batting him third is only going to help everybody including Hicks.
Not a hater, just an observer. Also, don't grasp why they're starting Stanton in RF when LF is going to be his semi-permanent position. Why not just let him start there & get comfortable?
I imagine it's because he has the best arm of tonight's outfielders Â
Yeah,so simple SMH LF in Yankee Stadium is one of the toughest fields in baseball We have take Gardner for granted all these years. Stanton was a DH most of last year,so he needs to be in LF all the time he plays to acclimate himself. Maybin has done a good job in RF,it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. But again,it's simple as that right?
I just hope if Sevy comes back he doesn't pull a Â
Wheeler. Wheeler was lights out second half of last year as Sevy was the first part of the year. Both have since had horrible stretches. Its not like they put together Verlander type years and then hit a rough patch only to rebound to their previous form . We shall see what Sevy brings to the rotation. There was a brief moment when we all thought we had a beast of a pitcher

What answer are you looking for? Greg gave you a logical reason.
I actually disagree with Greg. I think they're putting Stanton in right because it's the easiest outfield spot in Yankee Stadium. Maybin is in left because he has better range imo. I don't think the arm is the deciding factor.
So, I think you're right for the wrong reasons and Greg vice versa...

Did you watch the playoffs last year? Frazier should be playing, not an overpaid strikeout machine
If you took Frazier's strikeout rate and applied it to Stanton's total plate appearances from 2018, you'd reduce the total number of strikeouts for the season by...
12. Or one every 13.5 games. Two per month.
And that was one of Stanton's worst years in terms of K rate (only his rookie year was worse). If you simply applied Stanton's own career K rate to his plate appearances from last season, you'd reduce his strikeouts by 14.
Stanton merely regressing to his career average K rate already solves the problem more effectively than playing Frazier.
Get a better schtick, or learn something about baseball.

Maybin is a CF worthy OFer. So yeah, Maybin should start in LF. Stanton was a RF with the Marlins so the experience makes it easier for his return.
. Does it even matter why he’s playing RF tonight?
See that's the problem on BBI If someone has a different POV,they're pissy. I've already explained why I believe Stanton should be in LF,it's in the thread!

Nope, your response to his opinion was bizarre, including the “SMH”. Couldn’t care less who’s right since him being in RF doesn’t matter to me.

When someone dismisses what you've said w/a "Simple As That",an SMH is far from bizarre. You can disagree w/my POV but respect that it has merit, even if you don't agree with it!
What do you think the roster move will be for judge?
I imagine Maybin gets traded. As well as he's played, they might get an interesting return on him.
That might be a bit of a gamble, since we don't know how and how long S&J will play.
I could easily see them sending Cessa down at least for a few days and see how it plays out. They've got Hale and Cortes Jr to eat some innings if need be. Cessa just feels like overkill right now and less important than Maybin IMO.

Cessa is out of options. So they can't send him down either. Out of everyone you mentioned in your post, only Cortes has options and could be sent down without losing them.
But I think they're preparing to send him down. They stretched him out a bit last time out. He went 5+. I wouldn't be surprised if they had him do another long relief appearance and then sent him down to make room for Judge.
One of Cessa/Hale/Cortes should go to activate Judge. Sacrificing Maybin to keep all 3 of those middle relievers up with the big club doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Hale also should have options left.
I thought Cessa still had an option left but I guess not so then it's probably Cortes Jr going down. Personally I'd keep him and Hale up and just DFA Cessa but I don't think the Yanks will do that.
I do agree keeping all three up and losing Maybin doesn't make much sense.

Fantastic?? He’s a career.230 hitter. He’s been back over a month now he’s batting .204 I’m tired of the excuses for this guy on here. I rather have Maybin in there.

Only Cortes and Holder have options. Both Hale and Cessa are out of options.
Like everyone else, I don't see what Cessa brings that others like Cortes, Tarpley and Hale don't.
Unfortunately with CC and Happ, they need the extra BP guy to make up for their short outings. They could almost designate Hale or Cortes as the 2nd pitcher behind CC and then live with the other 6 guys in the BP. However Cortes is very similar to CC in that he throws a lot of junk with a 90 mph FB. With CC everyone knew he was a 6 inning at best pitcher. I'm sure they expected Happ to be able to go 7 often.
Maybin is 32 years old and has never posted stats close to this Â
In fact, Hicks' lousy start to this season is only slightly worse than Maybin's career numbers - .204/.301/.367 for Hicks this year, Maybin .256/.324/.372 career. Hicks is also easily the superior outfielder.
What do you think is more likely - Maybin regressing to his career norm or Hicks not improving to his hitting of the past couple of seasons?
numbers were only bested by a guy named Trout last season - he was the #2 CF in the AL statistically speaking. We can throw his defense against any CF in baseball.
Hicks got his big contract, got hurt and is pressing to live up to the contract. He will settle out. I think dropping him in the lineup so he can relax and ambush pitchers looking for a breather at the bottom of the lineup will get him going. IIRC even with the .204 BA his OBP was .100 higher. So he is still working the count.
It will be the same with Stanton and probably Judge after the long layoff. Didi was a bit of an anomaly with his hot start.
Could be that the Yankees analytics plus pitch recognition hitting coaches have been able to improve talented but undercoached hitters
Voit, Urshela, Hicks ( until injury), Maybin, Judge, Sanchez is not an accident?
Wish they could do the same with their starting pitchers a la the Astros.
As far as the progress post long layoffs for Didi, Hicks, Stanton and Judge...its starting March spring training for them. Normally, you would expect them to round into form in May.
Spraying fan frustration on threads as they come up a normal decades long hitting curve is a leading indicator of baseball IQ?
Guys, they likely wont be in a groove until August. And for some guys who had the kind of injury to Judge...it could be next year
Increasingly likely we wont see peak Severino or Betances this year
they have not completely overcome previous inefficiencies in the minors vis a vis in pitching development. Takes years to develop pitchers, so it may take a bit longer to see results as they chose different style pitchers using their analytics dept.
Voit was always a hitter - his MiLB #s show that.
IDK what they saw in Urshela.
But I agree that with Didi, Judge, Stanton and Hicks all need patience by the fans. I think Didi was hitting for quite awhile and saw a lot of batting practice prior to activation so his bat was sharp. It may take until ASB for the others to catch up to MLB pitching which has had 3 months of play so "green" hitters are doubly behind.
Oh piss off Dookie
99 isn't far behind....
Yeah anywhere from this weekend to next week.
I imagine Maybin gets traded. As well as he's played, they might get an interesting return on him.

You cannot be serious. Were you one of the ones who said Romine is better than Gary? Or just a miserable person in general?

Frazier has K'ed in 31% of his at bats this year.
Stanton K'ed in 30% of his post season at bats last year...
But continue your point...I am waiting for it...
