Actually for my 17 year old daughter who saved up enough of her own money to purchase a tour there and with perhaps 1 day free from the larger tour group is looking for a reasonable but "cool" restaurant to visit with her chums.
Ironically, I have been to Barcelona only once, on my honeymoon 18 years ago, and my daughter was conceived there almost certainly.
I'm sure she'd prefer a place with a hip vibe even more than outstanding food. After all, she only has half my genes.
I gave her the dad 'safety first' lecture twice, and reminded her of the movie "Taken" and that I am not even remotely like Liam Neeson... Obviously I trust her to be careful and vigilant.

EL QUIM DE LA BOQUERIA - http://elquimdelaboqueria.com/?lang=en
BAR PINOTXO -https://pinotxobar.com/
El Xampanyet Tapas Bar (gothic quarter) - small, local, busy, hectic, but once you get a seat, an awesome atmosphere and food. It is a bar as well, so make sure to poke your head in and get on the wait list. It seems like they have no order but once you are on the list, you'll be good. I would describe the food as what I'd expect authentic tapas to be. Perhaps the two standout dishes that our group enjoyed were the pork with padron peppers and the squid calamari. I'll reiterate - hectic, small, lively, but enjoyable. https://www.elxampanyet.es/
Tapeo Tapas Bar (gothic quarter, right across the street from El Xampanyet - This is what I would call a modern take on tapas. Still small plates, lots of great food. I would suggest I liked it better here than El Xampanyet. Not quite as packed in but still packed. The beef cheeks, patatas bravas, and Iberian pork ribs. You can make reservations here I believe. http://www.tapeoborn.cat/tapeo-del-born-en.html
Casa Lolea (gothic quarter) - we had lunch here. They are well known for their sangria; which is very good. They bottle it and sell it as well. The food was great. http://casalolea.com/?lang=en
El nacional - we did go there. It was a very cool space. It is an old auto warehouse converted into about 5 or 6 restaurants on the edges and a central bar area. We went to the seafood place, it was good but not a highlight. It was a cool place to go and have a drink at the bar for sure. Perhaps one of the other restaurants is better or perhaps it was just average service we had that took some of the shine off. https://www.elnacionalbcn.com/en/
I will report back if she uses the advice and then reports back to me.
Thanks again.
I'd highly recommend Canete, make a reservation first, the decor is elegant and definitely not hip but the food is excellent and approachable.
Have to hit up the two best tapas bars in the Boqueria, El Quim and and Bar Pinotxo.
Arume/Cera 23/Viana are sister restaurants I think, all of them are very good and won't break the bank. Speaking of which, Disfrutar was excellent but I went to Enigma because I couldn't get a table at Tickets, and it was a big letdown.
Don't forget Churreria Laietana for churros.

Full disclosure, I didn't end up doing this because my work covers my phone. But this is the one I was considering. We flew into Barcelona and you can pickup at the airport (as well as Madrid and Paris). Something for your daughter to consider if it isn't too late. My co-worker put me onto this when he was in Europe a year ago.
She knows. My wife and I told her the story many times already, how she was born 9 months after our honeymoon, so we know where she was conceived.
And it won't effect her appetite, she's 17 in every demeanor. Packs it a away for a slim reed of a gal.
Gotta go there.
I already received a ++ review and a food photo and a ++ on the Sangria (white) from my daughter re Lolea.
Thanks again!

You are most welcome, I am glad your daughter enjoyed it!
