NFT: Atlanta restaurant recommendation for my Stair race

Big Blue '56 : 6/19/2019 8:55 am
I’m a stair climb/ Tower runner and compete in races throughout the country. Last month I raced up the 86 floors of the Empire State building (that’s their cut-off for the climb) and this Saturday I’m doing the Peachtree climb (72/73 floors) in Atlanta. I won’t have a car and will be staying at The Westin Peachtree Plaza..Would love a suggestion for a Thai or Italian or any restaurant that offers vegan options. You guys are great at this.

Thanks in advance.
Your not going to be happy with those options

You need to get BBQ while you are there.

My favorite breakfast place of all time is the Buttermilk Cafe out in Buckhead. Best pancakes on the face of the planet!

Fat Mac's BBQ is great. Also, since your downtown, the Varsity is famous for their burgers.

I would also check out a Steakhouse. There a few real nice high end ones in Atlanta. Cut's or Hal's Steakhouse are great.

If you want like a bagel or bagel sandwich, try to locate a Goldberg's Deli. They are all over the place.
I just realized you asked for Vegan options

I don't have many of them.

I love pasta, so that would work
Good luck in the over 80 division.

You're in the south, get the fried chicken, not joking you can get a meat and three vegetable for under ten bucks. Try Mary Mac's Tea Room on Ponce de Leon Ave.
Forget the vegan options.

It's a staple in ATL and many famous people show up there.

I second the wings. Best dry wings I ever had were there.
I dated an Atlanta food critic

and she highly recommended St Cecilia.

They specialize in pasta and seafood, and offer gluten-free options. They're also close to the Westin Hotel.

If you're craving Asian food, Buford Hwy is the place to go.
Atlanta Fish Market

is really good if you are looking for any fish.
Wow! Stair climb. Good for you BB'56!

Uber/Lift in the Atl is great.

If you are in a group or with your wife/gf then I highly suggest Barcelona tapas and wine bar. 2 locations. Great foot to share. Just order a bunch of plates and everyone is happy. Outdoor seating is wonderful this time of year. Always packed so make a reservation.

You won’t regret it.

Disagree. If you want tapas, go to The Iberian Pig in Downtown Decatur. It's technically closer to you anyway and isn't a chain like Barcelona.

Otherwise, Fat Matts, Community BBQ, or check out the food at Ponce City Market right off the Beltline.

agree on ponce city market. General Muir is fantastic, near emory university. But probably not the most vegan-friendly place. I haven't personally eaten there but Soto Soto in Inman park was named one of the twenty best Italian places in the country in a NY post article I read a while back. If the weather is nice and time permits I strongly suggest taking a stroll on the belt line. Beautiful and you get to see Piedmont Park which is great.
