NFT: I broke up with my putter today at lunch

jc in c-ville : 6/19/2019 3:13 pm
Found myself at Dicks and was specifically looking for a lob wedge. Mission accomplished- nice sale too.

Then, as I went to pay for it, the putters were upon me.

Hit a few, meh.

Found the Ping PP60 Pistol.

End of story.

To my former Cleveland putter, I never truly felt comfortable with you.

Have a nice life.

went to demo some Taylor Made M5s and P790s. Walked out with a new TM Spider, replacing my two decade old Odyssey putter.

Now, just need to go back and update my clubs
all kidding aside

I've been using the same Ping putter i purchased in 1994

the only thing i've changed is the grip.

Pistol grip is excellent.

Been playing with an Odyssey two ball Fang putter for a couple of years. Had a problem with it and sent it back to Odyssey for repair. In the meantime, I took a Scotty Cameron I used to putt with and regripped it with the pistol grip. Making everything with it, I mean, unprecedented success for me. Now the repaired Odyssey is staying in the bullpen until the Scotty loses its magic.

In reality, does a Scotty ever really lose its magic?

Any idea which style you went with? They have a few different types of Sigma 2's.

Most feel too short for me, or something not quite right.

Still looking, maybe I'll try Dick's.

to the new putter. It'll just be one of a large collection before you're done.
Good luck with your new putter

So you got a Ping PP60 Pistol at Dick's Sporting Goods. Was a background check required? Just kidding.

As Bill in UT mentioned, one generally ends up with a whole bunch of putters over time. I have several Ping Ansers that worked very well for several years. Even tried the oversize grip on two of them (ala Phil)and that worked well for a bit.

Next tried two Scotty Camerons and they also worked well for quite a while. Remember, it is never the player, it is always the equipment!!

Play well with your new toy.

Alltime fave putter. Now finding a consistent grip I like whenever er it needs to be redone is another story.

Many have gone to my kids and friends. A few remain in my locker in the event I would like a reconciliation.
It’s all about the grip IMO

I have and Odyssey 2-ball backstrykeand was going to upgrade. Put a PistolGT SuperStroke grip on it and it felt like a completely different putter.
