Battle of lefties. Braves up 2-1 early. LGM!
The beat reporter who just went away for two weeks on paternity leave may get Wally Pipp’d
PS. Kevin Burkhardt’s career arc is still stunning

Ward + Taylor Rooks = 100 out of 10 scale
Then you have Rosario run us out of 2 out, runner in scoring position opportunity.
This is how you wind up with only 2 runs on 8 hits and now we are primed to lose this game in the bullpen.
We should have 3-4 runs ourselves at least.
Yes!! Too bad Rooks left for national job.
His fastball hit 97 mph and was regularly at 95-96 mph. He blew Freddie away on a fastball when he was sitting dead red.
This is a guy who used to throw 90-92.
So, Mets need to have more guys like Lugo and Gsellman who come up through the organization. I have not read any stats but it seems to me that those type of guys are almost always converted starters. At least it has been that way for the Mets. Can anyone think of a minor league reliever who had sustained success with the parent club?
I'm hoping Flexen can be one of those guys and I could also see Dave Patterson being a guy who flourishes in middle relief.

Need a mix of both. The Yankees are proof having a great bullpen is easy and pretty directly correlating with spending money. They had Betances and Miller, they added Chapman traded him and added him again. They added Robertson. They added Kahnle. This past offseason they added Britton + Ottavino. Every year they add multiple high end arms. That's what allows them to develop the young guys like Jonathan Holder slowly in low pressure environments.

Wilpons are not going to spend on relief pitchers like other top franchises. They will always try to get by with lesser guys on short-term deals. You might hit on one of those every once in a while but mostly you do not.

They, along w the other SUCCESSFUL large market teams do this annually. The Mets will always be a half ass Yugo joke as long as the Wilponzies are owning the team and still barely afloat from bankruptcy.
Blevins on the other hand has been pretty awful.

I think it will be the reverse in the second half. Swarzak was awful in Seattle and will go off track again.
Blevins tends to go by halves. Awful one half and lights out another.
traded for this guy
And another Mets pitcher, not so much
