Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland had his workout with the Knicks today, but New York remains locked on selecting Dukes RJ Barrett with the NBA Drafts third overall pick on Thursday, league sources tell ESPN.
So it looks like we already know the top 3.

3. RJ Barrett

But if they do... they should work on a swap with New Orleans at 4. Maybe take on Brandon Ingram and/or some of those Lakers future first rounders to go back one spot.

The Knicks supposedly love Morant. If the rumors about Durant are true then Morant's surgery isn't scaring them off. Can't think of much worse inniries than an achilles injury to an older player.
That would seem a simpler solution for all if they want RJ. Perhaps they tried and it didn't come off? Seems unlikely with every other possible scenario being rumored.

trying to move up. That said we also heard they could trade the 4th pick for a vet, so as usual the reports are all over the place.
Im fine with Morant but i dont see this happening. Unless NO is willing to include next years first unprotected i wouldnt be interested in moving from Morant/Barrett to Garland/Culver.

Is whether they use any of their cap space today to pick up an extra first or two. There are a number of teams willing to trade picks to get below the tax level including Miami and Oklahoma.
If they cant sign two stars, they should use all that cap space for additional picks either this year or the future.

Not sure what they are giving. Their worst 1st round is 22nd and i cant see them moving that to move an expiring guy making 5 mill. And there second rounder is in the 50's which doesnt seem like enough.
but you arent getting the 4th pick for DSJ and some future picks. You would have to offer a handful of unprotected picks and even then im not sure NO does it. They want to win soon. Also i dont want to trade a bunch of unprotected picks for Garland/Culver.
I really believe that Barrett's game is much more suited
to the NBA than what he played at Duke. I think he will be a very good NBA player, but if you're the Knicks, you've got to listen to what the Pels have to offer. Getting an extra pick to move one spot isn't the worst haul.
I don't see Memphis passing on Morant, especially after dealing Conley. NO would have to blow them out of the water.

end up with KD and Kyrie when all is said and done. And how well that works would depend on how KD comes back. I mean we would obviously be a better team next season with Kyrie, some good vets im guessing, and Barrett. We def contend for a playoff spot, but thats prolly it. That said if RJ is legit, Mitch/Knox take positive steps and KD comes back at 80% of KD or better then we would be damn good the following season and still have a lot of assets moving forward.
