Adrian Wojnarowski& #8207;& #61490; Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland had his workout with the Knicks today, but New York remains locked on selecting Duke’s RJ Barrett with the NBA Draft’s third overall pick on Thursday, league sources tell ESPN. |
It was Windhorst who said it's being discussed on TV earlier. The idea would be KD gets the 5th year which may be quite important to him given the injury and could rehab for a year with the Warriors and then they'd work with him to trade him to where he'd like to go. He called it a "delayed sign and trade".
We can say F that, but it's not NYK's call. And getting something back makes sense for GSW, and the $ for KD clearly
there definitely wouldn't be a s&t this year because the Warriors can only give him 5 years if he stays on their roster
I got family obligations until 8 or so tonight. Might have to follow via phone.
haha i was a little fired up this morning, lack of sleep

That sucks. You can’t drink for the draft tonight? I’ve got a few IPA’s & some whiskey ready for a night of rumors.
Problem is I go back and forth with hoping for Morant/Barrett.

I think all 3 will be good, but Zion will be great.
could be there at 55
He is an explosive athlete that can shoot the 3 and push the pace.
I would take D'Angelo Russell over Kyrie if I am the Knicks.
I hope Nets go Kyrie and leave Russell out there for the Knicks to grab him.
Move DSJ for picks and let Frank back him up.
KD and Russell would be a nice off-season.
The Knicks would be a potential trading partner for early 2nd round, no?

It makes sense to Kevin Durant. 221 million reasons why.

I take it you haven’t seen Coby White play very much.
He is a point guard or a 2 in the NBA. Zero chance he plays the 3
Agreed.
I've seen this movie before.
He'll almost certainly get drafted, I doubt it will be in the 1st. I think he'll be a steal for someone.

YES!!
I don’t see the point of this. Just hold on to him and hope for serious improvement. He’s still only 2 years away from being a top 10 pick. His value couldn’t be any lower- why sell now?
What could they possibly have to trade for 5 without taking back a bad contract? I'm not trading next year's pick unprotected...

I think it's a cap thing. He's due to make a little under $5M this year. They'd save the money they used picking up Trier's option by replacing that with a second round pick. They're also not all that pleased with his attitude and work ethic.
Knox and a protected first? I have no idea what kind of value Knox has but he was considered a top 10-12 pick in a draft thought to be stronger in the 5-12 range than this year's.
No hint of trading out of number five.
Supposedly focused on Garland, Culver, Hunter and Reddish, with internal division over the best option.

Amend that to say no hint of trading out of five and being left with no pick in the top ten.
Article does mention possibility of Cavs' trading back to eight or ten.

The New York Knicks are interested in buying another second-round pick, league sources told @TheAthleticNBA. Currently, New York has the No. 3 and 55 picks in the draft.
I'd rather just keep him.
