that too much.
Fucking Edwin
Mike from SI : 6/20/2019 10:26 pm : link
ruining everything with home runs, he could have hit a single.
I love this.

Lethal offense.

Death Stars don't hit singles.

Come the playoffs we will be wishing they had 10 singles. Singles wins playoffs. They should be using this time to practice

If not for all the HR's, I'd say this has been a pretty good performance for the Yanks. Hopefully we'll be able to phase those out and get back to singles as soon as possible... but this is alright for now.

I agree this is very irresponsible. Fire Boone, sub Romine for Gary, DFA Stanton and play Clint instead. Boom, championship moves right there.
Singles mingle.
Hsilwek92 : 6/20/2019 10:31 pm : link
Extra base hits and home runs fuck.
Hal doesn't have the money
section125 : 6/20/2019 10:31 pm : link
to pay for all those lost balls. Yanks will be deducting the price of balls from pay until these home runs stop.

With this lineup, giving up a walk is like playing Russian roulette with three chambers full.

one a more serious note, this has been a great year to watch so far.

We are getting to see some previously unknown to us professionals.

As Paul said, EE has a great eye and a great compact swing. DJ is a revelation to see every day. Urshela showing us what good 3rd base play looks like. Voit has put in the work to be a better all around player. Sanchez putting in a year that keeps promise with the flashes we saw his first year plus better defense and pitch calling.

And the analytics department/Boone has managed the bullpen very well...putting Torre to shame and exceeding Girardi.

Lots of subtle improvements and professionalism to admire this year

I agree, this has been amazing. The analytics department got us Voit! Still impressed by that.

Boone has done well with managing the pen and not giving up on guys. He's learning every game too.

hitting 100 singles to right every day until he is re-made for success.

Goal is to trade him to a proven playoff winner so we can get a good bunter.

so we have the flexibility to push a run across on a walk, a sacrifice fly, a bunt and a fielders choice come October

Has to go the other way. No balls to right. Have to go away from the shift.
Infield single for Stanton!
Mike from SI : 6/20/2019 10:57 pm : link
Can't make this sh** up lol. All the complaints about too many homers and he has a double, a single, and an infield single.
Single!
adamg : 6/20/2019 10:57 pm : link
Stanton is doing what we want! Back to back jac- er singles!

Thanks. I suppose they are working on their next injury together?
Thats what we want from Stanton
Bill2 : 6/20/2019 10:57 pm : link
Beating out infield grounders.

Maury Wills and Rod Carew were two guys who did that. By the end of the year they had ten more singles just off of dribblers no one could field plus errant throws

He follows Yankees baseball on BBI. He knows where to go to get the straight dope.(from dopes)
Never seen Stanton dog it
dune69 : 6/20/2019 10:59 pm : link
on ground balls. Even when he will clearly be out he runs full speed.
Just looked at the pictures
section125 : 6/20/2019 11:00 pm : link
on the OP.
Green throws two shut out innings and G&G go yard.
Any chance Hale goes down

Hale barely squeezed out of the
section125 : 6/20/2019 11:03 pm : link

agree dune
Bill2 : 6/20/2019 11:05 pm : link
he is a professional. One of the reasons he is considered a good teammate (both with the Marlins and here).

For a star he certainly is not a prima donna
Hale
Bill2 : 6/20/2019 11:06 pm : link
does not have options. But he is saving the bullpen for the rest of the series
Geezus

Kinda crappy
Mike from SI : 6/20/2019 11:12 pm : link
to have to use Chappy here. But let's just secure this win and call it a night. The rest of the big guns will be rested tomorrow unless something goes horribly wrong.

No clue what Paul O'Neill was thinking when he said great effort. He totally botched that play.
That may have been Boone's
section125 : 6/20/2019 11:14 pm : link
worst job this year. This guy was on fumes getting out of the 8th. Hale's had about 4 guys way down in the count and could not put them away.
I understand saving the pen, but that was just ludicuis.
When you..
FatMan in Charlotte : 6/20/2019 11:17 pm : link
have a 7-run lead, taking a chance on saving the pen isn't a mistake at all.

The way some of you guys analyze the use of relief pitchers is really unrealistic.
Chappy hitting 102?
adamg : 6/20/2019 11:17 pm : link
He should really slow it down a bit. It's unfair to the other guys.
I much prefer Boone's
adamg : 6/20/2019 11:18 pm : link
one batter too long, to Girardi's one batter too early.
Nice win!

I agree, FM. Great win. Some team. And here comes da Judge!
Great win!
Dave in Hoboken : 6/20/2019 11:21 pm : link
And Judge back tomorrow. BOOM.
Meh, no harm no foul
Hsilwek92 : 6/20/2019 11:21 pm : link
Score looks closer than it really was. Yanks scored in bunches when it counted and the Astros didnt.

1 down, 3 to go.

Fats he was out of gas. It was obvious as hell. Yeah nice to get by if you can, but after Hale couldn't get an out with several 2 strike counts with 2 outs, he should have been pulled. You cannot allow a team like the Astros to hang around. He had some cushion, yes but you not only subject the pitcher to excess pitches, but Sanchez too.
Back to 20 games over .500, too.

I'm more with FMiC on this.

But I don't think it's worth getting bent out of shape about either way. It's a great night to be a Yankees fan.

Twinkies lost to the Royals. 1 game back in the loss column.
Yanks looking really good right now!
prdave73 : 6/20/2019 11:37 pm : link
Personally I don’t think they have the pitching staff to make the WS, but they sure do have the bats to do it! I think this team is banking on the bats getting them there. Hoping it pays off!
