ruining everything with home runs, he could have hit a single.
If not for all the HR's, I'd say this has been a pretty good performance for the Yanks. Hopefully we'll be able to phase those out and get back to singles as soon as possible... but this is alright for now.
one a more serious note, this has been a great year to watch so far.
We are getting to see some previously unknown to us professionals.
As Paul said, EE has a great eye and a great compact swing. DJ is a revelation to see every day. Urshela showing us what good 3rd base play looks like. Voit has put in the work to be a better all around player. Sanchez putting in a year that keeps promise with the flashes we saw his first year plus better defense and pitch calling.
And the analytics department/Boone has managed the bullpen very well...putting Torre to shame and exceeding Girardi.
Lots of subtle improvements and professionalism to admire this year

I agree, this has been amazing. The analytics department got us Voit! Still impressed by that.
Maury Wills and Rod Carew were two guys who did that. By the end of the year they had ten more singles just off of dribblers no one could field plus errant throws
to have to use Chappy here. But let's just secure this win and call it a night. The rest of the big guns will be rested tomorrow unless something goes horribly wrong.
worst job this year. This guy was on fumes getting out of the 8th. Hale's had about 4 guys way down in the count and could not put them away.
I understand saving the pen, but that was just ludicuis.
have a 7-run lead, taking a chance on saving the pen isn't a mistake at all.
The way some of you guys analyze the use of relief pitchers is really unrealistic.
Fats he was out of gas. It was obvious as hell. Yeah nice to get by if you can, but after Hale couldn't get an out with several 2 strike counts with 2 outs, he should have been pulled. You cannot allow a team like the Astros to hang around. He had some cushion, yes but you not only subject the pitcher to excess pitches, but Sanchez too.
Personally I don’t think they have the pitching staff to make the WS, but they sure do have the bats to do it! I think this team is banking on the bats getting them there. Hoping it pays off!
Death Stars don't hit singles.

I agree this is very irresponsible. Fire Boone, sub Romine for Gary, DFA Stanton and play Clint instead. Boom, championship moves right there.
With this lineup, giving up a walk is like playing Russian roulette with three chambers full.

Boone has done well with managing the pen and not giving up on guys. He's learning every game too.
Nice to have enough runs to make room for it.
Goal is to trade him to a proven playoff winner so we can get a good bunter.
so we have the flexibility to push a run across on a walk, a sacrifice fly, a bunt and a fielders choice come October
Last I heard he was working with Ellsbury's personal trainer.

Has to go the other way. No balls to right. Have to go away from the shift.

where has Bird gone? Is he rehabbing, anywhere?

Thanks. I suppose they are working on their next injury together?

He follows Yankees baseball on BBI. He knows where to go to get the straight dope.(from dopes)
Green throws two shut out innings and G&G go yard.
+1 Stanton is a pro.
For a star he certainly is not a prima donna
No clue what Paul O'Neill was thinking when he said great effort. He totally botched that play.

I agree, FM. Great win. Some team. And here comes da Judge!
1 down, 3 to go.

And they have almost caught the Astros. Think they are percentage points ahead..
Twinkies lost to the Royals. 1 game back in the loss column.
