Aaron Hicks says hes been trying to play through a right (throwing) shoulder injury the past week and a half. Asked if he thought it could be an IL situation, he said no. MRI showed simple inflammation. Hes on Day 2 of a cortisone shot. Told me he thought hed be in lineup tmrw

I hope that's true. Kay didn't say anything about cortisone or possibly being back tomorrow. Guess we'll see. Hope that's true.
Jeez. Can we ever just get a player back without someone else getting hurt in exchange?
I feel like almost every time we re-activate one of the walking wounded, someone else gets banged up.
Wanted to see the full strength lineup this weekend, but I guess we'll have to wait. Good thing we held onto Maybin.
I know. I was hoping we'd be at full strength today, too. I get Voit having the night off. He's been playing alot recently. I just hope Hicks is alright. He's banged up alot.
RE: Only 7 more years of this with Mr. Hicks, by the way.
Lol. Idk I like what hicks brings to the table and a get it was a good deal. Did it really need to be 7 years? Just seems alot for a guy who gets hurt every year.
It was a pretty huge letdown to see this lineup posted after considering all the possibilities over the last few days once Judge returned. Gardner batting 6th???? Ahead of Torres? WTF???

No DJ, Hicks, or Voit. To be fair, Voit and DJ have been playing fuck-ton recently. Still sucks. But tomorrow's lineup should be the one we've been waiting for...hopefully.
I'm not sure that we'll ever see our A lineup. Not kidding....they are completely obsessed with resting players. Plus with continued injuries.....I'd think we might bet the A lineup once or twice this year, that's it.
they get hurt cause the baseball season is endless. That is why Cashman built depth and his analytics department is constantly looking at players. One of his many recent under the radar moves was getting Breyvic Valera as infield depth. He is hitting .385 with a 1.195 OPS at AAA. He could be another Urshela.
Hicks is also signed to a very reasonable contact given he is almost a 5 WAR player.

They aren't obsessed with resting players. They are obsessed with keeping players healthy over a very long season. We are only in late June. They want their A lineup to be killing things in October.
RE: Kay just said Hicks is day to day with shoulder inflamation.
I'm not opposed to giving guys a day off.....but I don't recall a team doing it as much as this team does. I could certainly be wrong though.
I agree that we need to keep an eye on October, but I'm sure you recall how critical home field advantage was vs. the Astros in 2017. It literally decided the series. We are tied with them in the standings, and the games vs. the Astros could easily determine which team has home field advantage when we meet in October. So I don't agree that tonight is the time to rest two regulars (Voit, DJM) when Hicks is already out.

We also have a lot of depth which is unusual. Eyes on the prize...healthy October!

I think they're using a lot of biometric data to determine who needs a day off. They collect a lot of data about players and recovery time using markers that tell them which athletes need more/less time to recover and how long they can go before needing a day off. Given their injuries I'm not sure it's working well for them so far, but I'm pretty sure they set a plan for each player and try to stay true to it whenever possible.
is kind of a weird-looking lineup even given who's in it and who's not. However - in Boone (and analytics) I trust. Can't complain about the results so far.

I think we'll see Judge in his customary #2 spot for the majority of the season. IMO, Voit gets bumped down behind EE.
I'm with section. I really like Voit 2. He seems to do really well there. Don't know the numbers...
I liked him there too and agree he did well there but IMO he was just a temporary placeholder for that spot until Judge got back. I think Judge will be back in the two hole before long.
I can see Luke batting there when Judge gets a day off though.
but watching these judge pre game interviews, Judge's barber needs to find another profession. If its a teammate doing it, he needs a pro, Sides of his head arent faded evenly. Very distracting
unless these balls are being redesigned to minimize injuries to pitchers (which I don't believe is the case), then I really resent MLB for choosing to go this route over easing up on regulating drugs that are designed to keep players healthy and assist in their recovery.

You would rather the players dope up? Is that what you are saying?

Remember what Pettitte said he was taking and what Cano alleges he was caught for having taken? There are alot of drugs that do little to no "doping" but do a significant job at helping players recover and stay healthy through the insane 162 game grind. I'm sick of not getting to watch some of the game's best players because they can't stay on the field or watching players unable to stay in the game in their early 30s.
Can you imagine how many greats would never have enjoyed long careers in the 60s and 70s if they were being forced to stay so clean that they almost certainly would never be able to play more than 140 games a season for more than 10 years?
i'll take PEDs over PEB(aseballs). I don't recall any pitchers griping about the use of any drugs. I read about pitchers griping about the baseball.
That is nonsense. Players ingesting some form of testosterone is not anything that should be condoned because not everyone wants to take them. It is not healthy.
That's gotta be the longest one yet this year for a Yankee no?
I think so. They said 3rd longest this year.
I couldn't take any more of Kay so I've had it on mute since the 2nd inning.
3rd longest for a Yankee or MLB? I'd imagine that's MLB as there can't be many guys hitting them that far even with the juiced ball and high HR numbers so far this year.
Stanton had 3 hits last night, including the 2nd hardest hit ball in MLB this year. He carried the Yanks for much of the second half when Judge was hurt last season, playing every day on a bad hammy. They dont sniff the playoffs without him.
I just dont understand why so many Yankee fans want to bury him.
Great point. I mean, were all fans who naturally have our favorites and guys we dont like as much...I just continue to be surprised how determined many fans are to hate Stanton.
in part because he's not Ottavino or Betances. He's a damn good reliever. And if he ever gets locked in, he'll be just as good as those two. I understand he can be a little frustrating with the control but we're damn lucky to have him.
Cameron Maybin felt a pop in his calf as he was rounding third base, Aaron Boone said. He is going to the injured list, and Boone said it will be a while.
Remember when there were people wanting to get rid of Gary Sanchez?
LMFAO
As if 18 homeruns in an off year for a catcher is worrisome... Dude carried us as a rookie, and he's carrying us as a vet now. Between him and DJ, we have a couple of MVP candidates.
Btdubs, Sanchez and Torres set a record as the first pair of Yankees to homer in three consecutive games. I know it's a shit record because it involves hits other than singles, but a cool record nonetheless...
Ugh. I feel bad for Cam. You could tell he loves it here, loves being a part of this, and he's busting his ass every single day because he wants to stick around.
I know the back of the baseball card says it's a player who is due for a pretty big regression; but in this role, it was just working for him and for the Yanks and he had become a pretty important part of the team.
Sounds like an IL stint is all but certain, so.. let him heal up and maybe we'll see him again in a bit.
I'll be happy with 3 of 4 from the 'Stros... but now that we've taken the first two, I'd fucking love a 4 game sweep.
He played so well that when it came time to activate Judge, they sent down a pitcher and not him. Then the very same day, he pulls a muscle bad enough to be put on the IL. Ugh! Just awful.
I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back with the club soon.
Stanton had 3 hits last night, including the 2nd hardest hit ball in MLB this year. He carried the Yanks for much of the second half when Judge was hurt last season, playing every day on a bad hammy. They dont sniff the playoffs without him.

Because he makes a lot of money! And thats sad.
RE: Jack Curry and the YES crew predict Tauchman will come up
Hopefully Hicksie's back isn't barking. A little concerning that he's not in there again.
But it's gonna be nice to see 99 out there again.
It's just a different feeling when he's active.
Yup, makes me wonder. Day off for Voit, which is normal, hes been playing every day.
Jeez. Can we ever just get a player back without someone else getting hurt in exchange?

Day off for DJ too, whos also been playing every day, well deserved, as much as his bat is missed.
But leading off, for the Yankees...the right fielder...Aaron Judge!!

Sadly it looks like Alvarez is going to be legit for the Astros. They get healthy, and they are going to be the team we need to beat.

Don't hold your breath. More likely a pitcher if, big if, Maybin needs to go on IL.
On 2 strike pitches in both cases.
Thanks. I figured it had to be all of MLB.
I don't remember a Yank hitting one longer but it's going to be fun watching these Bombers the rest of the way try to.

It's really disgusting. If I had kids I wouldn't let them watch it. How would they learn to play the game the right way?
You've built enough street cred starting these threads. So yes. Just don't take my home runs from me.
I know being the weak link the 8th might be the best spot for him, but perhaps they should split the lefties up.
How dare you. Home runs are evil. I only accept suicide squeeze runs or sacrifice flies.

18 homeruns baby! Not even half way through...
He just may end up being the best of all the Baby Bombers (I say this as a die hard Judge fan).
