I get the frustration, but it's a long season and catching probably takes the greatest physical (and mental) toll of any position.

There won't be so many ab's av available for Gary at DH. He simply gonna sit sometimes. Deal with it. He did play one day game after a night game this week.

That should've been the game he sat out IMO.

I know they obviously don't believe in "hot" but we have two guys who have both hit HR's in three straight games and they're both sitting out tonight? Am I alone in thinking that doesn't make much sense?

All the statistical studies I've seen
Mike from SI : 6/22/2019 5:55 pm : link
say there is no such thing as a hot streak. I took a grad course in behavioral economics and we spent some time on it. That said, as a former basketball/baseball player, I still believe in getting hot despite what the smart people say. I guess it's my dumb ape brain refusing to believe the truth.

I guess I have one of those brains too because I definitely believe in a guy getting in a good groove.

If you listen to a guy like O'Neill he's said many times when he was hot it was like the ball was as big as a beach ball and he couldn't wait to get to the park that day. I'd assume most players feel the same.

I guess agreeing with him offends some posters here though.

I don't know how to explain it, hot streak cold streak whatever...all I know is there were times the ball looked the size of a beach ball and they're were only 3 people in the field and other times it was like a pea and there were 20 people out there. Same in goal...there were times I felt like nothing could get by and others when I prayed no one would shoot on goal.

They obviously do know what they're doing. I'd just rather see our best players play as much as possible against the better teams. Is it out of the realm of possibility had they played a little more last year we could've done better than 100 wins and pressed the Sox for the Division? I don't think that's an unreasonable thought.

I've got no problem sitting Gary tonight ( even though I thought he would sit day game after a night game like normal) since he's caught so much recently but Gleyber is only 22 and unless he's got something bothering him I'd prefer to see him play tonight and ride his hot bat.

Exactly. He’s been bitching about the lineup every single day since last season. Whether it’s the lineup, batting order or “hot” players getting a rest. You’d think the fact that they win almost every time he complains would be a wake up call. Yet, here we are. Like clock work.

Wash, rinse, repeat...

the chances that if they didn't do what they do, we might have lost more games than we did. Have you considered that?

Why is it guaranteed they'd do better just because they listened to you? Maybe they'd do a lot worse. Maybe we'd have even more injuries.
And frankly,

Two reasons to play Sanchez tonight
xman : 6/22/2019 7:15 pm : link
By resting him Sunday instead of tonight Gary would have 48 hours rest until Mondays game whereas when he plays tomorrow he will have rested for 12 hours less or 36 hours counting from last nights game until Sundays afternoon game. ( actually even less)

Secondly I can't see him hitting Verlander as well as tonights pitcher but I haven't look up his % against both guys. But its probably a safe bet. Romaine will be Romaine no matter who pitches

Since we have legit power hitters, i'd rather they leave the magic baseballs in the minors. This shit is just boring. The actual power behind the ball doesn't even matter with this ball. If they barrel it, it's gone. Dee Gordon or Gary Sanchez.

God I missed Judge in RF. That throw to gun down Stassi was a thing of beauty.

Yep. But even if the Yankees lose tomorrow, they did what they had to do. They got the 3 out of 4. Sure, a sweep would be lovely. But winning the series and avenging that 3 game sweep in Houston earlier in the season is very sweet.

Houston isn’t the same without Correa and Springer, and you missed Cole this weekend.

But obviously this Yankees lineup is fucking impressive and a tough out come October and the Red Sox stubborn bizarre indifference towards upgrading its lousy bullpen (while only throwing Barnes against meat of orders ... every night) has made this easy for Cashman and team

How sad that they're missing two guys and on a long losing streak. Well we still don't have sevy, betances, and andujar is gone. We were far more depleted when they swept us, yet someone here openly stated the stros superiority, and we never had losing streak that long with far more injuries.

I swear watching the ball on TV with those cameras up close on it, his pitches change their rotation a few feet after they leave his hand. Yeah physically impossible I suppose, but that's what it looks like.

That last pitch, Altuve must have thought it's gonna take that same wicked break to the outside, and be way out of the strike zone since it was heading right for the outside corner of the plate anyway. Then it efffin broke back inside sharply for a clear strike, and back doored Altuve. That was a magnificent pitch - intentional or not.

Acevedo just transitioned to the pen this spring- I think they are trying to get him adjusted to the back-to-backs and lengthy outings they would need.

The secondary numbers he is putting up are pretty solid- even though he had several bad outings in early-mid May. He has only allowed .192 BA against. They are using him in high-leverage situations- ergo the 7-1 record.

Others have already pointed out how ridiculous your post was.

Lets go through some of the Yanks that were or are on the injured list.

Severino
CC
Montgomery
Paxton
German
Betances
Bird
Andujar
Sanchez
Stanton
Judge
Hicks
Didi
Maybin
Tulowitski
And others

Yeah, the Yanks have had it easy.

With Gio, it's gotten to the point where excellence with the glove is so expected it's routine. I feel like I'm watching Nettles' spirit reborn in another body like a Hindu. That play - was it in the 9th or 8th - where he charged a hopper, barehanded it and fired to 1st in pretty much one motion and got the runner clearly by half a step - it just looked routine.

May not be necessary to trade Frazier unless they are getting a top of the rotation pitcher. They may have to, but it is not forgone.
I do not think he is topped out either. His defense will improve and his patience at the plate will improve once he gets comfortable and not pressing to stay in the Bronx.
