Just a little random side note... Ottavino has been fantastic this year; his peripherals suggest he might be due for a little bit of an ERA correction soon, though.
1.56 ERA... but a 4.14 FIP. His K/BB is actually near a career low (1.96 compared to 3.11 last year)
1.240 WHIP (0.991 last year)
I don't think he's going to just hit a wall and suck, but his ERA probably isn't going to stick under 2 for too much longer.

EDDY!
Walk the Parrot, baby.
Not sure those numbers can be analyzed. FIP is up. ERA down but WHIP is up...

So those numbers can mean anything.
Sure they can. They suggest that he's been a bit lucky.
His .224 BABIP says similar.
Doesn't mean he's going to just be bad out of nowhere. He could continue to just keep rolling. But, those peripherals were all different last year... better K/BB, lower WHIP, lower FIP, lower xFIP. Higher walk rate.
The big number is the LOB number.. he's @ 99% - that's probably where the regression is going to come from. That's not something he'll sustain all year.
is happy that they got Galvis out, but he is probably even more relieved that Galvis put that ball in play. Because he got crossed up on that one, he thought slider and instead 102 was coming. If Galvis misses that Gary was in trouble.
and Chappy were talking about at the end? Looked like they had a miscommunication.
Man, this team is so much fun to watch!
I always suspect that’s related to the runner on 2nd signaling pitch or location to the hitter. Probably called the next pitch or two, or changed up the signals

I think they were talking pitch sequence. Talking about attacking each of those batters. That was a serious talk. To me that was Gary learning and packing away information.

It was definitely about the cross up on the last pitch. Like Mook said, Gary saw his life flash before his eyes there expecting slider but getting 102
Another solid win. Maybe not the laugher we were expecting after our first two hitters of the game but we’ll take it. Should be six up if the Rays go down
That was 3 years ago. What did he do in 2017 and 2018?
Be a very good player who averaged a 2.0 WAR as an infielder. In his other years since 2015 he has averaged a 92 wRC+ so he didn't hit. When you combine that with his elite defense you get a very good player. Obviously 2016 and this year he is putting up MVP level numbers. But given he did this already in 2016 it is not without precedent. He has this type of talent.
now let's pray Stanton isn't hurt bad enough to miss any time.
.
The guy has a body like Adonis, but appears to be made of glass, maybe it's nothing much.
They said it was a 'contusion', unless you hear the word tear, it shouldn't be much.
That game was tighter than it needed to be,
need those add on runs, have said it before.
Does "body made of glass" apply to getting spiked... Â

Stanton has no swelling on the right knee, but the knee is sore and stiff. Boone said the Yankees will monitor him across the next few hours to see how he progresses. As of this moment, Boone said the team isn’t making a roster move involving Stanton

Just heard Sweeny Murty on with Bro and Evan, they said MRI didn’t show any damage. Did say anything about possible IL trip, just that his knee is sore.
I'm totally just guessing - but I think G will obviously get today off - and then we have the back to back off days for the London trip. After those 3 days off, I bet he'll be able to play in at least one of those games vs. BOS.
It doesn't sound like this is going to be another IL stint.

Chapman is not sharp tonight.

Anyway... let's go, Chappy!
Finish this shit off.
Chess match here. Gotta get him guessing on the wrong pitch.
I'd go outside fastball
Yanks win. Let's get this sweep before we head to London to kick the shit out of Boston.
Always fun
Yankees win!!!
.
Great pitching night.
23 over .500.
Sometimes you win easy. Sometimes you win tight. But in the end, all that matters is that you win.
Man, this team is so much fun to watch!
Just hope Stanton is OK
Have to give Chapman credit...he doesn’t always have his best command and sometimes walks a tightrope, but he still gets the job done 99% of the time

The issue is his knee even though he got spiked,
not his hand.
How long was he out this season, prior to coming back?

Saw the lineup on RAB twitter - GS is out.
Weekend is probably a possibility, though.
